I lean in closer to him, enjoying the heat of the proximity, as I drop low enough for my lips to brush against his ear, and his delicate orchid scent fills my lungs.

Just then, the elevator doors open, and I smirk as people pour into the elevator, looking between Ethan and me.


I see the stink eyes I get because of the cigar in my hand, but I only step out of the elevator because of the infant I see a mother carrying. As I leave Ethan behind, I send him a text.

All I can feel is my heart pounding in my chest as I dart through the house and up the stairs. 


I should have known something was wrong when I got a call saying there was something wrong with Grandma.


We both agreed to call me first in case of an emergency. 


She brought up the idea. She said Ethan worries too much, and she doesn't want him panicking if something happens to her. 


That's why they texted me tonight. I was told she got food poisoning and was asking for me.


I was on my way there, but something seemed wrong. 


I have men watching her. Nurses, I pay monthly to ensure she's in perfect health. 


Something about the whole situation felt staged. 


So, as I left, I made sure to keep an eye on things at home.

I turned the flick around and ordered Zane to head here.
