They were fighting!
On the high ground outside the cave—
the instant he felt those two extremely powerful yet completely different auras collide, Shiko knew that Registeel and Melmetal had already clashed.
Melmetal's luck was truly terrible.
When it went in,
Registeel had just awakened because of the corrosion from that huge pool of liquid memory alloy,
and was in a state of extreme fury.
Melmetal had walked right into the line of fire
and became the target for Registeel to vent its rage on.
Still,
fortunately, the moment it realized that this battle was unavoidable,
it immediately absorbed its very last remaining piece of liquid memory alloy.
That filled in the final gap.
The Steel-type law within its body
had also perfectly reached one hundred percent.
Its alloy fists extended,
blocking Registeel's savage offensive.
Two Third-tier Legendaries
began slaughtering each other in the space deep inside the cave.
The clash between peak Third-tier Legendaries was terrifying to the extreme.
The Steel-type energy aura spilling out from the cave
condensed into wave after wave of violent metallic storms
that swept out from inside
and blasted in all directions.
Shiko bore the brunt of it.
He became the first target struck by those metallic storms.
As the razor-sharp, freezing storm swept past,
Shiko's expression finally turned serious.
Steel-type energy flowed over and covered his entire body,
strengthening his defenses.
The full force of his dragon pressure spread outward,
mixed together with the fluctuations of the Steel-type law.
Only by pushing his own aura to the absolute limit like this
was Shiko able to withstand the metallic storm pouring out of the cave.
What a terrifying force!
Only now
did Shiko truly and completely understand the power of a Third-tier Legendary.
Just the aura leaking out from their battle
was already enough to force him to go all out, raising both his defense and aura to the maximum just to resist it.
If he were to really clash head-on with them,
then with his current strength,
he absolutely would not be their match.
However,
the time when he would be able to stand against them was already very close.
As long as he could seize the energy he needed from them,
reach one hundred percent Steel-type law,
and evolve into WarGreymon,
Shiko was confident
that he would absolutely be able to rival them!
Perhaps,
it would not even be impossible to surpass them!
The fierce battle inside the cave continued.
As pure Steel-type Third-tier Legendaries,
both Melmetal and Registeel
possessed extremely terrifying physical resistance.
As the two Pokémon collided, sparks flew everywhere, and the sound of metal crashing against metal rang out endlessly.
The entire mountain trembled violently under their attacks.
Every strike sounded like a hundred war drums being beaten at once, echoing into the sky.
Across the region surrounding the mountain range,
every Pokémon in the area had already fled.
The storms formed by the overflowing energy made the surrounding region impossible to approach.
Faced with those terrifying storms that were as sharp as blades,
Pokémon below quasi-Elite Four level had no room to resist at all.
Whether it was the mountain, the ground, the trees, or anything else,
deep gouges had been carved into every surface.
The whole place was a complete wreck, devastation stretching as far as the eye could see.
Shiko did not dare go in to inspect the two Pokémon's situation.
He could only remain outside,
feeling the intensity of their auras.
That pressure was enough to make even him uneasy.
Although the change was very slow,
Shiko could clearly sense it—
Melmetal's and Registeel's auras really were continuing to decline.
It was obvious
that they were attacking each other without the slightest restraint.
That was normal too.
After all, compared to ordinary Pokémon,
Legendary Pokémon had much stronger territorial instincts.
It was only natural for Registeel to develop such strong hostility toward Melmetal for suddenly intruding into its territory.
What was more,
this guy had even tried to absorb the Steel-type energy inside its body.
If Registeel could endure something like that,
then could it still be considered a proud Legendary Pokémon?
And so,
under its tidal-wave-like terrifying offensive,
even if Melmetal had wanted to pull away and retreat, it could not.
On top of that,
Melmetal, which had started out passively defending, eventually snapped as well.
It began counterattacking with everything it had.
The clash between the two was earth-shaking.
For quite a while, neither side could defeat the other...
As time passed,
the battle entered its hottest stage.
Even bodies forged from such hard alloy as theirs
had suffered considerable damage.
On Registeel's body,
quite a few sunken fist marks had appeared.
As for Melmetal,
its height had already mysteriously shrunk by a noticeable amount.
Large chunks of liquid alloy had been blasted off its body and fallen to the ground.
After suffering serious injuries,
both of their auras had clearly weakened.
They were no longer at the peak intensity they had shown at the start of the fight.
But even so,
these two violent and stubborn beings still refused to yield.
They were still continuing
to launch fierce attacks against each other,
as if determined to fight to the death.
The violent energy collisions and the world-shaking metallic crashes continued for another half hour.
Waiting outside, Shiko was growing more and more anxious.
And then—
he distinctly sensed both of their auras weaken once again by a huge margin.
They both seem badly injured!?
The moment he caught that change, Shiko was delighted.
He could not help wanting to rush in and check the situation,
to reap the fisherman's profit.
But in the end,
he still calmed down and forcibly suppressed that impulse.
Wait a little longer!
If they still wanted to fight, then let them keep fighting!
However,
this time things did not go as Shiko wished.
The clashes deep inside the cave gradually came to a halt.
The anger of both sides had probably been mostly spent in that drawn-out battle.
They had regained their reason as well.
They knew that if they kept fighting like this, it would do neither of them any good.
It would definitely end in both sides losing.
They stopped fighting!?
Shiko raised his head,
his gaze fixed on the cave entrance as he carefully sensed their auras.
It really did seem like they had stopped!
In that case,
it was finally time for him to harvest the spoils!
A faint smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
Shiko stepped forward and entered the area.
He could sense that the Melmetal and Registeel inside the cave had both already reached their limit.
They only had a tiny bit of stamina left.
As long as he could endure the innate overwhelming pressure of these two Third-tier Legendaries,
then the final winner of this battle
would be him.
