Chapter 3 - The First Steps

"I've been reincarnated. This is insane. Is this a true reincarnation, or did I take over this body?" Julian thought.

[Host, you did not take over the body. You are truly Julian.]

Julian heard the system reply and felt relieved. He hadn't just taken over someone else's body and memories. He was also excited,he got a system with an AI, not one of those shitty systems without one.

"System, I will not choose a class yet. I'll wait for the class selection ceremony. But can you show me my list of classes I have to choose from?"

[Yes, Host. Here it is.]

Normal Classes:

Knight, Shield Guardian, Spearman, Elemental Mage, Battle Monk, Bowman, Duelist, Flame Adept, Ice Warrior, Wind Archer, Earthbreaker, Stone Sentinel, Mystic Scholar, Beast Hunter, Forest Ranger, Axe Wielder, Light Cleric, Shadow Initiate…

Rare Classes:

Sword Lord, War Saint, Void Assassin, Spirit Sovereign, Storm Herald, Arcane Sentinel, Flame Warden, Shadow Blade, Thunder Cleric, Frost Master, Skybreaker, Lunar Mage, Iron Vanguard, Magic Swordsman, Celestial Archer, Soul Reaper…

Mythical Classes:

Elemental Paragon, War Dancer, God Beast Tamer, Celestial Arbiter, Eternal Flame Master, Void Emperor, Storm King, Dragonheart Sovereign, Shadow Emperor, Light Warden, Astral Conqueror, Phoenix Sage, Soul Weaver, Temporal Shaper, Cosmic Knight, Infinity Mage…

"Woah, that's way bigger than both of my parents' options."

Julian thought to himself. "Neither one of my parents even had a single rare class option."

It was extremely rare for a person to even get one rare class, let alone a list that included mythical classes. Mythical classes were called that for a reason; only a handful of people had them. To most people in this region of the continent, they simply didn't exist.

"Obviously, I'm choosing a mythical class. Who wouldn't? Now to see which one I'll choose during the ceremony."

The class selection ceremony was exactly what it sounded like. Fifteen-year-old kids went to a designated area in their city and placed their hands on a glowing orb. The orb would light up in one of three colors: white for normal classes, blue for rare, and gold for mythical. The name of the class would then appear in the air above the orb.

This ceremony took place every year whenever the ruling family of the territory permitted. Julian suspected it would be in the next few days, but that was before he passed out, screaming in agony.

As he was thinking about which class he would choose, his room's door opened. His maid, Lyra, hurried in.

"Young master, you are awake! Are you feeling alright?" she asked worriedly.

Julian stretched, testing his body, and replied,

"I'm feeling better than ever. Thanks for worrying, Lyra."

"Wait, young master! My lord and my lady they are really worried!" Lyra exclaimed, then ran from the room without waiting for a reply.

Just as she left, Julian felt movement on his bed. He turned and saw his sister, Aurora, waking up.

"Big brother, you're okay!" she exclaimed, tackling and hugging him while crying.

"I was so scared! The medical mages said they couldn't find anything wrong with you."

"Now, now, there's no need to cry. Your big brother is strong. Nothing is wrong with me." Julian hugged his sister, coaxing her to stop crying.

As he did that, his mother and father rushed into the room, looking no better than Aurora. They both jumped on him, his mother sobbing and his father teary-eyed.

"My son, what happened? Are you feeling better?" Seraphina could barely speak through her sobs.

"Yes, son, tell us what happened!" Elias gripped Julian firmly, causing minor pain.

"Everyone, please stop crying. I'm fine. It was just a bad headache, probably from the classes I was given." Julian lied slightly; even he wasn't entirely sure what had happened.

Elias looked at him curiously. "What do you mean it was probably from the class options you received? How many did you get specifically?"

"How many did you get for it to make you scream and lose consciousness?" Seraphina asked, confused.

Aurora didn't care about the conversation. She held tightly to Julian, thinking to herself that she would never let go.

Julian smirked at his parents. "I'm not telling you. I'll reveal it after I choose one during the ceremony."

"You cheeky brat. Fine. I will inform the city that this year's ceremony will be held tomorrow. Come, honey, let's get some rest." Elias then picked up his crying wife but not before she smothered Julian with kisses, and headed to their room.

"Finally, they're gone. How long are you going to hold onto me? Shouldn't you go to your room?" Julian asked, looking down at Aurora, who hadn't released her hug even though she had stopped crying.

Aurora looked up, her eyes red and puffy. "No, I'm staying like this for now. I'm scared to let go."

"Fine. But do not disturb my thinking. Just go to sleep the night is still young."

"Thank you, big brother. Good night. Love you." Aurora closed her eyes and fell asleep with a smile.

Julian took a deep breath. System, tell me what you are, he thought.

[My primary function is to observe, analyze, and enhance your growth through bonded companions.]

[I calculate compatibility, emotional resonance, talent synergy, and long-term potential.]

[Through sufficient favorability, I enable shared growth, talent amplification, and strategic optimization.]

[Advanced functions will unlock as your memories awaken and bonds deepen.]

[I exist to guide, not to command.]

"Explain what you do."

[Yes, Host. I monitor companions and calculate compatibility, favorability, and growth synergy.]

[When conditions are met, I enhance shared potential.]

"What are the conditions?"

[The required condition is 70% favorability.]

"And what happens after I reach that threshold?"

[Upon reaching 70% favorability, talent and affinity sharing becomes available.]

[Copied talents and affinities are amplified by a factor of three.]

"What are companions, and who falls into that category?"

[Companions are individuals who form a bonded relationship with you.]

[They may include family, friends, lovers, or trusted allies.]

[Eligible candidates are evaluated through compatibility and emotional resonance.]

"Ok, I understand. Can you show me my status?"

"What is the Origin Vessel?"

[Host, system level too low to answer that question.]

"Of course it is. What is the Omniprimordial Origin Bloodline?"

[Yes, Host. I can provide basic information.]

[Your bloodline is Omniprimordial Origin Bloodline. It grants latent potential for growth and unique talents.]

[Full details are restricted until your bloodline awakens further.]

"How do I awaken my bloodline further?"

[Host, awakening your bloodline requires growth, experience, and cultivation.]

[Significant events, intense training, or breakthroughs in your Orders will gradually unlock its potential.]

[Bonding with companions and increasing favorability may also accelerate awakening.]

[Exact methods and effects are currently partially restricted.]

"So for now, just get stronger."

[Yes, that would be the right move.]

"Give me a description of my talent."

[Yes, Host. Talent: Origin Potential — F-rank, Dormant.]

[Effect: Slightly enhances all basic attributes at birth.]

[Long-Term Potential: Allows the Host's maximum total attributes to reach up to double the normal limit for their current Order as the bloodline awakens and cultivation progresses.]

[Current limitations: Fully dormant; only minor attribute boost active.]

"Not bad for an F-rank dormant talent. I can see the potential."

"So what is the max my attributes can reach at my current order?"

[Host can get a maximum of 100 total attribute points in the 0th order.]

"So the average non-cultivator can reach 50 attribute points maximum?"

[Yes, correct.]

"Do I have anybody that I can make my companion right now?"

[Yes, your sister Aurora is currently at 100% favorability (family bond).]

"I'm not surprised. Show me her status screen."

"Isn't this a little much? My status is crazy, but compared to my sister, mine doesn't look too impressive."

"Why is my sister so talented?"

[She is talented because she was birthed from the same person who birthed you.]

[After your mother gave birth to you, your Origin energy remained, and your sister was incubated with your energy, causing her to be far more talented than her parents.]

"Ok, I guess that makes sense."

[That is because of the Origin energy. Her affinity was D-rank before giving birth to you, and she was still a non-cultivator.]

"It would seem that I am her lucky star."

"Looks good. Hey, system, can you show me my notifications?"

[System notifications:]

• Primordial wish available

• Beginner question available

• System shop available

"I almost forgot about the wish I was granted before being reborn."

"Is it possible to bring my past family here with this wish?" Julian thought. He loved his family deeply, and not being with them made him feel as if a piece of himself was missing.

[Yes, you can.]

[But Host, I can give suggestions.]

"Fine. What is it?"

[Host, I feel like it would be a waste to use this wish on something as mundane as bringing your family here.]

[Especially since you are not strong enough to protect normal humans in such a dangerous world. If you get strong enough, you will be able to go to Earth yourself.]

[I think you should use this wish to help you get stronger.]

"So if I'm strong enough, I could return to Earth?"

[Yes, Host.]

"How strong do I have to be to do that?"

[The Host will have to be at least at the Demigod Realm, which is the 12th Order. Of course, there could be exceptions that allow you to go before that, or maybe even after, it's not exactly clear. I just know it's possible.]

"Wow, that feels like it would take forever. The strongest person in this kingdom is only at the 5th Order."

"But if I use this wish to improve my power, it would be much faster."

Julian began to think about the best wish he could make. One idea kept coming to mind, especially after remembering the name of one of the mythical classes in his list.

Something that wouldn't help his strength immediately, but with time, the right skills, and the right class, this wish could benefit not only him but the entire world. A world he would one day rule over.

"Let's save the wish until after I choose my class," he decided.

"Time to get some more sleep"

Julian woke to the soft glow of morning light filtering through the curtains.

For a moment, everything felt unreal, the system, the bloodline, the power resting dormant within him. Then Aurora shifted beside him, still asleep, her breathing slow and steady, and reality settled back into place.

This world is real, he thought. And so is everything waiting for me.

He gently moved, careful not to wake her, and rose from the bed. His body felt light, and stronger than it had the night before. Not overwhelmingly so, but enough to notice. Enough to promise more.

A quiet knock sounded at the door.

"Young master," Lyra's voice called softly, far more composed than the night before. "The class selection ceremony will begin in a few hours. My lord has asked that you prepare."

Julian exhaled slowly.

A few hours…

The orb. The crowd. The moment everyone would see what path he chose.

Countless futures lay before him—normal, rare, mythical. Power, responsibility, destiny. And somewhere among them, the class that would define the road he walked from this point onward.

He clenched his fist, feeling the faint warmth of his awakened affinities stir beneath his skin.

"Tell my father I'll be ready," Julian said calmly.

[Notification: Class Selection Event imminent.]

Julian's eyes sharpened.

Let's see what kind of future this world is ready for.
