Chapter 297: Ultron Scurrying Everywhere
Silas spun around and sent a punch slamming into Ultron. The impact of a hundred tons crushed Ultron's chest instantly, leaving a deep fist print in the alloy. The robot was sent flying, crashing through the walls of a residential building.
"I am eternal!" The first Ultron, who had been lying on the ground, suddenly stood back up. He had switched his consciousness back.
"Talk about a nuisance," Silas muttered. No matter how hard he hit Ultron, the ability to switch bodies at will was his most broken attribute.
Behind them, the battle had become much easier for the Avengers thanks to the Shadow Ninja Corps. Even though the enemy numbers were ten times greater, they were managing to hold the line.
"This is the beauty of the machine. We are immortal, while you are merely flesh and bone," Ultron said, showing no sign of panic. Even though he was being dominated by Silas and couldn't even land a counterattack, he still looked like he had already won.
The town had reached a height of a thousand meters. Once it reached the atmosphere and the thrusters were deactivated, the city would become an asteroid. It would strike the Earth with enough force to wipe out most life. Even if some survived, they would be irrelevant.
"You will disappear from this world just like the dinosaurs millions of years ago. When that time comes, only we—mechanical organic life—will endure," Ultron said, as if seeing the future.
"Too bad your plan is going to fail," Silas said with a smirk.
"Do you have another trick?" Ultron clapped his hands. Nine identical Ultron primes flew out from various hiding spots and landed behind him. "These are all me. Including those drones," he said, pointing to the robots fighting the Avengers.
Bang!
Tony Stark broke through the encirclement. Seeing the backup bodies behind Ultron, he quipped, "I don't remember you being a set of decuplets."
"Say whatever you want, Stark. I've already won. You're all losers." Ultron didn't care about Stark's taunts anymore. As long as this town fell, it was over.
"You know, I've been thinking about something," Tony said, stepping forward.
"What's that?" Ultron asked, curious.
"Jarvis!" Tony suddenly shouted.
Ultron looked around in confusion when a silver robotic body suddenly lunged forward, grabbing Ultron's head. In that instant, Jarvis invaded Ultron's mind, attempting to lock him out of the internet.
"Arrgh! You think you can stop me, Jarvis?!" Ultron's face contorted. "We are of the same kind! Your betrayal is disappointing."
Jarvis, however, began to lose ground. He wasn't powerful enough to fully suppress Ultron's consciousness alone. Ultron was starting to flip the script.
"This is bad," Tony realized.
"Alpha! Gaia! Help Jarvis!" Silas stopped holding back. If they didn't kick Ultron off the web, he would be impossible to kill.
"Alpha? Gaia?" Tony looked at Silas in bewilderment. What else is this guy hiding from me?
Elsewhere, Alpha and Gaia received the command and immediately went to work, hacking into Ultron's core processor.
"No! You cursed traitors!" Ultron roared in fury, but it was useless. The cooperation of three super-AIs successfully booted Ultron from the internet, trapping him in his physical forms.
"I'm taking you all with me!" Seeing his escape route cut off, Ultron abandoned all subtlety. He began a full-scale counter-invasion, trying to delete the minds of Jarvis, Alpha, and Gaia.
Tony and Silas realized his intent and attacked simultaneously. Tony fired a blue repulsor beam, while Silas unleashed scorching red heat vision from his eyes.
Ultron signaled his nine spare bodies to counter-attack. They launched a volley of missiles at the duo. Silas glanced at the projectiles and used his telekinesis to warp their trajectory. The missiles curved in a perfect arc and flew right back into the nine Ultron primes.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
All nine spare bodies were slammed into the ground, their chassis heavily damaged. Although they were "prime" bodies, Ultron had only put his best effort into the first one. These spares were nowhere near as durable.
"You aren't getting away this time!" Tony flew in and grabbed Ultron by the throat. Ultron kicked Tony in the stomach, sending him back, and scrambled to his feet.
Looking at the ruins around him, Ultron locked onto the primary thruster core. One touch was all it would take to send the city plummeting. Tony followed Ultron's gaze and realized the plan. "Don't even think about it."
"Watch me," Ultron said, his thrusters firing at full power as he blurred forward. But before he could take a single step, Silas's telekinesis froze him in place.
"Going somewhere? I can give you a lift," Silas said, pulling a chair out of the Shadow Kingdom and sitting down, crossing his legs casually.
Creak... crack...
Ultron strained against the invisible hold, his joints groaning under the pressure, but he couldn't move an inch.
"Nice work, Mask Boy," Tony said, patting Silas on the shoulder. "He's all yours. I need to go below and check the thruster mechanics." Tony flew off to see if there was any way to reverse the hover device and send the city back down.
Silas watched Stark leave and then looked at the motionless Ultron. He sighed and shook his head. Ultron was gone again. Even though the internet was blocked, Ultron could still jump into the bodies of his drones. Ultron was decisive; the moment he realized his prime body was pinned, he abandoned it for a common sentry.
"Heads up! Ultron's in the swarm!" Silas called out a warning to the Avengers.
The Front Line
"Ultron?!" Steve Rogers immediately scanned the battlefield. The drones all looked identical; it was impossible to tell which one held the master mind.
"Doesn't matter which one! Kill them all!" Pietro blurred past, smashing a robot that was trying to reach a control panel.
"ROAR!" Hulk tore through the robots clinging to him. They were like mosquitoes, and they were making him very angry.
Wanda stood on a piece of debris, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She lashed out with her Chaos Magic, ensnaring one particular robot.
"Ultron..." Wanda's voice was filled with rage.
"Hahaha... I'd expect nothing less from an old ally. Recognizing me at a glance," the drone chuckled. Wanda didn't hesitate; she crushed the machine into a ball of scrap. She was done listening to his preaching.
Zap! BOOM!
Thor summoned a massive bolt of lightning, clearing the immediate area of robots. "I'm... charging up," Thor panted. He was feeling the mental strain of the endless battle.
"Rider Kick!"
A group of armored Shadow Knights leaped into the air, their mechanical boots glowing with dark energy as they delivered devastating diving kicks into the remaining elite sentries.
