"Isadora—" He tried again, but she cut him off.

"If you cannot handle two daughters wanting to be seen," she said, voice steady and cold, "then perhaps you should have thought about that before you taught one of them to take and the other to wait."

He felt the heat rise in his face. "Don't speak to me like that."

"I will speak to you like this," she said. "I have been planning this for months. I have chosen vendors, booked the garden, written vows. I have done the work of making a day that is mine, MINE. You cannot ask me now to erase it because someone else decided to be louder, or according to her words bolder"

"You're being unreasonable," he said, the old reflex of authority flaring.
