Chapter 53 - Raising Bubalo

Hayoon asked, "If we add too much, will it irritate the skin?"

Minho replied, "No. Everyone here has thick skin and strong bodies. The amount of medicine I normally use on them is already quite heavy."

Hayoon smacked her forehead lightly.

She had been thinking of ordinary humans again without realizing it.

The beastmen and sub-beastmen all had extremely strong physiques.

Most small injuries healed quickly even without medicine.

Especially for beastmen, whose beast forms were enormous, a tiny amount of sulfur would probably feel no different from scratching an itch.

"Alright, I understand." Hayoon stood up energetically and shook the water droplets from her hands. "There is still some beast oil and ash water left. How many pieces of sulfur ore do you still have?"

Minho took out all the sulfur ore he had stored away.

After calculating mentally for a moment, Hayoon said, "It should be enough. Come on, let's make more right now."

Haeun immediately raised his hand. "I want to help too! Sis, when the soap is finished, can you give me a piece? I want to use it for bathing!"

Hayoon laughed. "Of course."

Haeun cheered happily. "Awesome!"

Practice made perfect.

This time, however, Minho became the main worker while making the sulfur soap.

He had already memorized Hayoon's methods, so she only needed to supervise from the side.

As they working together, the three of them quickly used up all of Minho's sulfur ore.

By the time they finished, it was already very late.

They did not wait for the sulfur soap to cool completely and instead washed themselves, dried their hair carefully, and went straight to sleep.

Especially Hayoon.

After hearing Sulwoo's experience, she was so worried about getting lice herself that she made absolutely sure her hair was completely dry.

Early the next morning, Hayoon and Minho woke up.

Hayoon went to check on the two Bubalo she had been constantly thinking about, while Minho inspected the sulfur soap.

The calf was still lying obediently outside the grass shed.

However, after one entire night, the muddy ground there had become filthy, smelly, and soaked with waste.

The mother Bubalo was nowhere to be seen again, most likely having gone off to find grass on her own.

Feeling rather guilty about it, Hayoon worked hard to clean both the inside and outside of the grass shed.

Afterward, she carried over another bundle of fresh grass and tossed it onto the ground.

The calf happily mooed and lowered its head to eat eagerly.

From the corner of her eye, Hayoon saw Minho walking toward her against the morning light.

His broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs made his already handsome appearance even more striking.

The two of them spoke at the same time.

"The Bubalo..."

"The soap..."

Minho paused briefly before smiling faintly. "You speak first."

Hayoon nodded.

"Raising Bubalos is really messy. I want to bury another wooden stake over there and tie the calf there instead."

She pointed toward the downstream area near the creek.

It would make feeding the Bubalos more convenient while also preventing them from affecting the water they used.

Minho nodded without objection.

"I will go set it up in a while. The soap is ready too."

Hayoon's eyes immediately brightened. "I will go take a look!"

On top of the large green leaf lay a huge block of persimmon-colored sulfur soap that had completely hardened.

Under the hazy morning sunlight, the sulfur soap reflected a smooth oily sheen.

Hayoon reached out and lightly touched it.

The tiny droplets of dew that had formed overnight gathered together and smoothly rolled down along its surface.

"Even though there are still a few impurities left, it is good enough already," Hayoon said happily to Minho. "Once I find a tool to cut off a piece, could you bring some to Sulwoo and let him try washing his hair with it?"

Minho nodded. "Alright."

They immediately got to work.

The hardened sulfur soap was not brittle at all.

Instead, it was slightly soft, and cutting through it felt smooth and oddly satisfying.

Hayoon simply decided to cut the entire large block into evenly sized pieces.

She trimmed off the edges until every piece became a neat rectangular bar.

Because of its beautiful color, Hayoon found herself liking it a great deal despite the faint unpleasant smell.

She brought over a clean leaf, wrapped one piece of sulfur soap inside it, and handed it to Minho.

"Then I will head over now."

Hayoon said, "Mm. I will go make breakfast."

The two of them then split up to handle their own tasks.

Before long, Minho arrived outside Sulwoo's cave dwelling and transformed into human form.

Sulwoo had already sensed him approaching and strode out to meet him.

He clearly had not slept well the previous night.

The bags and dark circles under his eyes were extremely obvious.

"Minho! Are you here to bring me the new medicine?" As he spoke, he could not help scratching his scalp fiercely with his hand, almost as if he wanted to claw it bloody.

Even his hairstyle became messy.

Minho handed the item over to him.

"This is called sulfur soap. Use it to wash your hair."

"Sulfur soap?" Sulwoo muttered while taking it and giving it a sniff.

He subconsciously frowned.

Why did it smell like rotten bird eggs... though he was too embarrassed to say it aloud.

"So I just wet my hair and rub this on it?" he asked for confirmation.

Minho nodded. "Yes. If it starts irritating your scalp, use less of it. You can wash about three times a day. Do not use it on open wounds."

Sulwoo honestly did not think "rotten egg soap" would actually work, but he was already in such miserable condition that trying it would not cost him anything.

"Alright, I remember. How many supplies do I owe you for this?"

Minho shook his head. "Let's see the results first. Besides, this sulfur soap was not made by me."

"What? Then who made it?"

"It's Hayoon."
