The dinner slowly came to an end as the servants cleared the table quietly.
Kaius adjusted the sleeve of his watch before rising from his seat.
"Kaius."
Magnus Blackwood's deep voice stopped him immediately.
Kaius turned slightly. "Father?"
"Come to my study."
The teasing atmosphere around the table faded almost instantly.
Kaius gave a small nod. "Alright."
Ximena Blackwood sighed softly, setting down her wine glass.
"Must everything always sound so serious with you two?"
Magnus glanced at his wife before giving a faint smile. "Business never waits."
Kym muttered dramatically under her breath, "Neither does father's interrogations."
Kaius heard it.
A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
"Pray for me," he said flatly while walking past her.
Kimberly gasped loudly. "Mother! He made another joke!"
Ximena laughed softly. "Quick, someone write today's date down."
Even Magnus shook his head lightly in amusement before turning toward the hallway.
Kaius followed behind him quietly.
The moment they stepped away from the dining hall, the warmth from dinner slowly faded into silence.
Their footsteps echoed softly against the polished floors of the mansion.
Magnus pushed open the large study doors before stepping inside.
Kaius followed after him calmly.
Then the doors closed behind them.
