Chapter 284 - Chapter 284: Overture

"Brother Yuu, a transfer student joined our class today."

In the evening, Yuu Hoshimiya and Ran Mouri were chatting over dinner about the day's events, as they usually did.

"Oh?" Yuu asked curiously. "Boy or girl?"

"A boy named Eisuke Hondou. He's actually mixed-race."

"An American English teacher just transferred here, and now another mixed-race transfer student..."

Yukiko Kudo, wiggling her bare white toes, complained, "Is Teitan High suddenly that popular with international friends? We didn't have any foreigners back when we were students~"

As the women drifted further off-topic, Yuu stopped participating in the conversation.

The moment he heard the familiar name 'Eisuke Hondou,' he knew he was going to be busy for a while.

It had only been two days since he sent Shizuka Hattori—the woman who loved to lie through her teeth—back to Osaka, and yet the overture to the 'Clash of Red and Black' was already beginning.

Eisuke Hondou was a refined-looking high school boy with those blue cat-eyes typical of mixed-race heritage.

His personality was clumsy, dazed, and somewhat airheaded.

But none of that was the point. The point was that he had a biological older sister named Hidemi Hondou.

And Hidemi Hondou was the real name of Rena Mizunashi.

The suspicion Gin cast on Rena Mizunashi—which eventually forced Shuichi Akai to fake his death to help her return to the organization—was entirely triggered by this Eisuke Hondou trying to find his missing sister.

The Hondou siblings' father, Ethan Hondou, was also a CIA mole planted within the Black Organization.

Rena Mizunashi joined later, but because she wasn't cautious enough and left a trail, her father was forced to commit suicide to save her life and ensure she gained the organization's full trust.

Rena Mizunashi screwed over her own father, and now her brother had arrived to screw over her.

This family was truly something... one person sacrificing the father, the next sacrificing the sister...

Yuu felt speechless just thinking about it.

However, when it came to screwing over one's own people, that was practically a tradition in the world of Detective Conan.

It wasn't just the Hondou siblings; even Gin and Shuichi Akai had done it countless times.

Gin was a given; almost all the capable non-mole executives in the organization had been personally eliminated by him.

And Shuichi Akai, the so-called FBI ace, had fought the 'Liquor Factory' for years and even went undercover as an executive, yet he hadn't managed to capture a single person and instead got several of his own people killed.

His cousin, Akemi Miyano, was the most classic example.

Then there was Toru Amuro's childhood friend and fellow PSB mole, Hiromitsu Morofushi.

He committed suicide because Shuichi Akai caused his identity to be exposed, and he chose to die to protect his friends and family from the organization.

This was exactly why Toru Amuro kept chasing Akai, constantly looking to make his life miserable.

Both Shuichi Akai and Gin were undeniably powerful—their brains and combat skills were top-tier—but that also made them both incredibly arrogant.

Perhaps it was because of this that they didn't hesitate to screw over their allies, seemingly believing that as long as they were alive, they could solve everything themselves.

Yuu felt a bit of irony thinking about this and decided to let Gin and Shuichi Akai, those fated rivals, continue their love-hate struggle.

He decided he wouldn't let Shuichi Akai take the chance to fake his death and move from the light to the shadows.

With a "Silver Bullet" like that helping him draw attention, combined with Conan constantly making trouble, it would be much easier for Yuu to act.

Furthermore, although Rena Mizunashi eventually cleared her suspicion again with the FBI's help via Akai's fake death, it didn't come without a price.

Not only did her brother, Eisuke Hondou, have to go to the US and join the Witness Protection Program—effectively becoming a hostage—but she herself had to provide intelligence to the FBI from then on.

The CIA and FBI might both be American intelligence agencies, but they didn't get along.

The FBI actually has lower authority than the CIA, especially overseas.

To put it simply, the FBI is like the police, while the CIA is national security.

Because of that incident, Rena Mizunashi effectively became a subordinate to the FBI.

If there was no choice, that was one thing, but if there was a choice, no one wanted to be "overpowered" by a lower-ranking agency.

Rena Mizunashi was no exception.

Yuu recalled his memories while silently calculating the resources he currently held, thinking about how to take down Rena Mizunashi as quickly as possible.

Whether it was the CIA, FBI, or MI6.

When dealing with these cold-hearted, strong-willed female agents, interest-swapping or forceful coercion was far more reliable and faster than trying to win their hearts.

The same logic applied to the female executives in the Liquor Factory.

Talking about feelings was useless; only absolute strength could conquer them!

Meanwhile, at Tokyo's Haneda Airport, a tall man with curly hair stepped off a plane.

"James, I've arrived."

"Shu, you're finally here. I'll send a car to pick you up right away."

"No need. Just send me the address, I'll take a taxi myself."

The moment Shuichi Akai made contact with the FBI, Noah—who was monitoring the FBI at all times—sent a notification to Yuu Hoshimiya.

At ten o'clock that night, instead of sleeping in a warm bed with a beauty on each side, Yuu arrived at one of the organization's secret hideouts.

In the dimly lit bar, low-pitched classical music flowed slowly.

Not long after Yuu sat down, Gin arrived with his lackey, Vodka, and sat beside him.

Shortly after, Chianti, with her short orange-red hair and heavy, exaggerated makeup, leaned in as well.

"Stinger, what's so important that it needs a face-to-face report?"

Gin's voice was as cold as ever, but those who knew him understood this was a relatively good attitude.

This was a privilege reserved only for his "top disciple," Yuu.

"Brother Gin, I discovered some FBI people a while back. Their target seems to be Vermouth."

Yuu briefly explained the situation regarding Jodie and the FBI, though he naturally hid the part where he proactively exposed himself to offer a betrayal.

Gin didn't react much after hearing it; the organization had received similar intel long ago.

If they didn't even have that much capability, the Liquor Factory would have been liquidated and Vermouth arrested ages ago.

Gin picked up the glass the bartender had just served and said calmly, "Mmm. Vermouth will handle it herself. Unless she asks for help, don't interfere."

The executives in the organization generally didn't interfere in each other's business unless a joint operation was planned.

Yuu hadn't planned on contacting Vermouth yet anyway.

Aside from waiting for her to come to him, he still hadn't finished dealing with Jodie.

"Understood. But that's not my main reason for coming."

Yuu smiled. "I wanted to ask if the organization minds if I develop a more 'intimate' relationship with that FBI agent."

He reached up and touched his own face, speaking with clear implication. "After all, as it stands, that FBI agent seems to have quite a thing for me."

When Yuu was first recruited into the organization, Hitomi Kujo had been there to accompany him.

Later, he was entangled with the mother and daughters of the Suzuki Group. Gin had long since grown accustomed to Yuu's philandering.

But hearing that Yuu planned to fuck an FBI agent still made him pause in surprise.

Gin's hand holding the glass stilled for a second. "The organization doesn't interfere in private lives. Just don't expose your identity."

"That's good."

As expected, building his persona had worked.

Now he could openly associate with Jodie.

Yuu flashed a brilliant smile and stood up to leave.

Just then, Chianti, who had been silently watching the show, let out a playful laugh.

"Hey, handsome Stinger, instead of those FBI people, why don't you consider me? At least you wouldn't have to worry about being suspected as a mole and getting your brains blown out one day~"

As she spoke, the red-haired sniper in black leather made a shooting gesture with her hand.

She was actually quite cute and playful.

It was just that her makeup was so thick it made Yuu feel a bit uncomfortable looking at her.

"If you didn't wear such heavy makeup, Chianti, I wouldn't mind giving you a good fuck."

Yuu shrugged, replying with a half-joking tone.

He had no sense of restraint when dealing with "bad" women like her.

Not long after he learned the detection magic, he had taken the chance to check on Chianti.

Unsurprisingly, Chianti was still a virgin.

After all, the one she liked was that mute Korn, and Chianti herself was a tsundere who loved to talk big but lacked action.

When the two of them were together, they barely spoke outside of missions, let alone holding hands or anything further.

Since Chianti was still a virgin, Yuu naturally planned to take her.

Collecting her was one thing, but as an organization executive, she could also help him handle many matters.

He hadn't moved yet because he was waiting for the right opportunity.

And now, that opportunity was fast approaching.

Vermouth, that cunning old witch, would be hard to deal with and required a steady approach.

But dealing with Chianti wouldn't be nearly as troublesome.

While the FBI was making trouble for the Liquor Factory, he would find a chance to sell out Korn. It would build trust and goodwill with the Red Side, while also giving him the perfect opening to take Chianti for himself.

As for how Korn being captured or killed would affect the future...

Developing to his current state, Yuu didn't need to consider that anymore.

Besides, thinking about it was useless.

The main plot he remembered from his past life basically ended with the Red and Black confrontation. The rest was just a few movies and some lore he'd skimmed.

That included things like Mary Akai and Masumi Sera's arrival, and the true identities of Rum and the Boss.

So, whether the timeline changed or not, once this event passed, it wouldn't have much of an impact on him.

He would act how he needed to act.

"Tsk tsk, you actually dare to tease your senior now."

Chianti was just talking big, but being mocked for her makeup still annoyed her. she retorted, "You were so cute and obedient when you first joined. I really regret not 'loving' you properly back then."

"It's not too late to love me now."

Yuu felt no embarrassment at having his history exposed and continued to invite Chianti.

"I happen to be very free tonight and looking for something to do. Why don't we go for a drive, talk about life, and discuss our ideals?"

When he first joined, he only had a strong physique without any combat experience, skills, or the ability to resist firearms. Naturally, he had to play the part of a "white rabbit."

Now that everything was ready and he intended to swallow the entire organization whole, playing the victim would just be disgusting himself.

"Forget it, go find your agent girlfriend. I'm not interested in a brat like you."

Chianti waved him off. The master of talking big finally lost to a real master.

If she really went out with Yuu, she didn't think she could keep her virtue tonight.

To be honest, at her age and constantly living on the edge of danger, she really needed a release.

Especially a session with a handsome guy like Yuu—the temptation was through the roof.

But she still had feelings for Korn, and after surviving all these years through self-pleasure, she didn't want to just throw away her precious first time so casually.

Yuu saw Chianti's temptation as well as her hesitation, but he didn't push it.

Once Korn was captured or killed, the red-haired sniper before him would be his with just a beckoning finger.

He smiled and said nothing more, turning to leave the bar.

By the time Yuu arrived home, the conversation on the FBI side had also just finished.

Regarding Yuu Hoshimiya—the suddenly appearing executive who proactively reached out to them—the FBI naturally had to inform their ace, Shuichi Akai, and seek his opinion.

Jodie desperately wanted her nominal ex-boyfriend to support her and bring Yuu in to deal with Vermouth together.

But things didn't go as planned.

Like most FBI members, Shuichi Akai didn't want to take the risk and held extreme suspicion toward Yuu.

With her proposal rejected again, Jodie was fuming in her apartment when she received a call from Yuu.

Jodie adjusted her emotions and picked up.

"Mr. Hoshimiya? Is there a reason you're calling this late?"

"You could say that."

Yuu let out a light laugh. "Teacher Jodie, I heard the FBI ace has arrived in Tokyo?"

"Mmm, he just got here tonight... wait, how do you know that?"

"Not only do I know, but every executive in the organization knows. Even your plan to deal with Vermouth leaked out long ago."

Yuu hung up his coat and continued, "Teacher Jodie, it looks like you won't have a chance to arrest Vermouth this time."

The already frustrated Jodie felt even worse now.

Clearly, there was a traitor within the FBI.

Since there was already a traitor, why couldn't they accept Yuu? He might even have been their trump card.

The thought crossed her mind, but her professional training kept her from getting emotional.

"Mr. Hoshimiya, can you meet me tomorrow? I want to talk to you in detail."

Jodie planned to report the existence of a traitor, change the plan, and try one more time to get Yuu into the group.

If that really didn't work...

She was willing to cooperate with Yuu personally!

Hearing this, Yuu knew he had achieved his goal.

With Noah's help, he had absolute intelligence superiority.

Combined with his memories, everyone in this event would act exactly as he wished.

"Hehe, is Teacher Jodie that impatient to confess her love to me?"

Jodie clenched her fist. Even though she knew Yuu was a habitual flirt, she still found it incredibly annoying.

"Fine. I'll be at your place on time tomorrow. Make sure you've showered and gotten that pussy ready for me!"

With that, Yuu hung up.

Hearing the dial tone, Jodie couldn't help but punch her pillow in anger.

But soon, the blonde "Western Mare" collapsed on the bed and hugged her pillow tight, her brow furrowed.

The images of two men appeared in her heart, and she began to feel inexplicably conflicted.

But when the image of the woman burning with the fire of hatred appeared in her mind, she slowly made her decision.

The next morning, Yuu drove toward Jodie's place.

He parked beneath the apartment and took the elevator to her floor, only to see two familiar figures—one large and one small.

Conan and Heiji Hattori.

Yuu's brow twitched. Hadn't Shizuka Hattori disciplined this dark-skinned kid when she got home?

How had Heiji run off to Tokyo again to cause trouble with Conan?

"Conan, Heiji, what are you two doing here?"

Hearing Yuu's voice, the two of them froze in panic. They tried to run, but looking left and right, there was no other exit.

Finally, they bumped into each other and turned around with sheepish grins.

"Brother Yuu! What a coincidence!"

Yuu crossed his arms, his index finger tapping rhythmically on his arm as he stared at them with a scrutinizing gaze.

Cold sweat broke out on their faces as they scrambled for an excuse.

Heiji immediately pointed at Conan. "Teacher Hoshimiya, Conan invited me to Tokyo!"

Conan glared at Heiji. You bastard, you actually sold me out!

Sensing Yuu's gaze, Conan felt a chill. He used every ounce of his skill to act like a cute child.

"Brother Yuu! We came to play with Teacher Jodie!"

Play my ass!

Knowing full well that I know your true identity, you're still pulling this act? Are you just trying to disgust me?

Seeing Conan like this, Yuu followed Kogoro Mouri's example and slammed several heavy punches onto the boy's head.

The blows left Conan with a head full of bumps, questioning his life choices.

Meanwhile, Heiji looked at Conan with total sympathy.

"Playing with girls isn't something a kid your age should be doing, Conan!" Yuu picked the brat up by the collar, intending to toss him out.

This time, Yuu intended to thoroughly take down the blonde beauty. Having Conan and Heiji interfere would ruin everything.

As for why the two were sneaking around Jodie's place, Yuu had a good idea.

Conan and Heiji had officially started cooperating with the FBI after the failed attempt to arrest Vermouth.

Of course, the FBI also learned that Conan was actually Shinichi Kudo.

Come to think of it, Shuichi Akai's fake death was so successful largely thanks to Conan.

But the kid had been kept in the dark for a long time; it was almost a bit pitiable.

The dangling Conan struggled with his arms and legs. "Brother Yuu! Then why are YOU here to see Teacher Jodie?"

Yuu chuckled. "What else? I'm here for a date, of course. You brats shouldn't be here in the way."

Heiji froze, seemingly thinking of Kazuha Toyama, who had also been taken by Yuu.

Although there was no hard evidence, he knew the truth in his heart.

He had finally managed to let it go with Conan's comfort, only to have it stirred up again by a single sentence from Yuu.

He couldn't tell if it was anger because his childhood sweetheart had been stolen, or the jealousy of a single dog seeing a winner at life—or maybe both.

Either way, Heiji was miserable and really wanted to challenge Yuu to a "manly duel."

But knowing he was absolutely no match for Yuu, he could only keep it bottled up inside, which made him feel even worse.
