Bryan's POV
I watched Alice stare at the man claiming to be her father and I could see her struggling with whether to believe him. David Morgan looked sincere, but I'd learned long ago that looks could be deceiving.
"You're dying," Alice repeated, sitting down across from him. "David how long have you known?"
"Six months," he said. "Alice, the doctors gave me a year at most and I've already used up half of that."
"And you waited until now to contact me?" she asked and I could hear the anger building in her voice. "David, you've had my entire life to reach out and you chose to do it when you're dying?"
"I know how this looks," he admitted. "Alice, I know you think I'm only here because I want something from you before I go, but that's not it." He added.
"Then what is it?" I asked because someone needed to be direct. "David why contact Alice now after all these years?"
He looked at me for the first time and I saw something in his eyes that made me uncomfortable.
