Chapter 211 - Chapter 211: Kyurem Is the True Inborn Dragon of Unova!

"Speaking of which, why does it feel like all these powerful legends keep 'transforming'?"

Wallace can't help but quip.

He suddenly realizes that it might indeed be true.

Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, and now Kyurem in front of him all seem to be able to transform.

And those who don't transform—for example Zekrom—are frankly not as impressive.

"Now's not the time to talk about that, is it?" Steven's mouth twitches; he thinks Wallace's thoughts are still a bit far out.

"Ho—"

Alder sighs inwardly; he's genuinely exhausted.

Clearly they came here to petition Kyurem for help, yet now they're clashing with Kyurem.

Although they prepared for a possible misunderstanding and conflict when they first came, this is undoubtedly the worst possible outcome.

Most importantly, without Kyurem's help, how will they expel Team Rocket next?

Alder hesitates hard; he never intended to wipe out Team Rocket, because he knows he's not capable of doing so.

But the best case would be to drive Team Rocket out of the Unova Region.

Damian has mastered Primal Kyogre, which effectively gives him a "do-or-die" card, so unless they have absolute certainty, defeating Damian is almost impossible.

But using force to expel Damian‑led Team Rocket from Unova is not impossible; Damian wants to settle Team Rocket in Unova for growth.

He wouldn't simply let Primal Kyogre run amok and unleash Primordial Sea, because that would ruin everything and bring him no benefit.

Damian isn't stupid, so after weighing it, Alder thinks it's feasible to try Kyurem.

But Kyurem obviously won't help them now.

If that's the case—

Alder ponders, if there's truly no way, and if it's like Hoenn, they may have to accept Team Rocket.

Otherwise, what options do they have? They can't beat them; the key is, he doesn't want a villainous team to settle in his region.

But to not beat them is the core problem.

"Kyurem, we don't want to clash with you; can we talk this out properly?"

Giovanni's deep voice comes to Black Kyurem.

He feels Black Kyurem is being too domineering, unreasonable.

"Roar!"

However this time Black Kyurem doesn't answer Giovanni; it roars again, its tail turbines whirring, blue-white energy coalescing.

Energy forms into a round sphere, enveloping Black Kyurem, crackling electricity glittering, dreamy and beautiful.

Ice-type Freeze Shock! Black Kyurem's signature move!

"Groudon, Precipice Blades!"

Giovanni immediately gives orders to Primal Groudon.

Primal Groudon growls, a red glow enveloping its body as it raises a right claw and smashes the ground with a thunderous impact.

The ground trembles; molten rock blades surge forth, racing toward Black Kyurem.

Ground-type Precipice Blades! Groudon's signature move!

Black Kyurem dives in, colliding with the incoming blades with a Boom!

Freeze Shock and Precipice Blades collide violently; blue-white and red clash, generating fierce wind and waves.

A powerful shockwave blasts out; Giovanni and the others unleash Protect to shield themselves from the wind.

But with Black Kyurem's roar, Freeze Shock advances, shattering blade after blade of molten rock, finally reaching Primal Groudon's front.

"High Horsepower!" Giovanni intones.

Primal Groudon's forearms block, the earthy energy flaring.

Primal Groudon grits its teeth against the Force of Freeze Shock; Black Kyurem's brutal impact pushes Groudon backward, leaving deep tracks on the ground.

Meanwhile, the freezing energy etches along Groudon's arms.

Boom!

Freeze Shock exhausts; Black Kyurem backs off and rises again.

"Hiss!"

Upon seeing Primal Groudon, Wallace gasps.

Primal Groudon's forearms are already coated with a pale ice crystal—left by Freeze Shock.

This is remarkable—

Primal Groudon is a Ground-type Fire, and while ice-type attacks beat Ground, Fire resists ice, so Freeze Shock is not an outright win.

But as a Fire-type Legendary, Primal Groudon's body temperature is incredibly high, as evidenced by the lava flowing from its armor seams.

The fact that it can be frozen into ice crystals shows how terrifying Black Kyurem's Ice-type attack is.

"So strong!" Steven's brow knits.

Although they only clashed once, Kyurem's strength is evident; Primal Groudon is at a disadvantage.

Red light flares again on Primal Groudon; the sun's Extreme Sunlight blazes down, melting the ice crystals on its arms rapidly.

"Roar—"

Black Kyurem roars again, its tail turbines erupting with a blaze of fire.

The flames race over Black Kyurem's body, and in an instant, Kyurem's form shifts again.

Its base color becomes gray-white, a long white feather tuft appears at its head, its left forelimb becomes a white wing, and its tail turbines turn white.

White Kyurem!

"Form changes again!" Wallace stares in astonishment.

"This is similar to Reshiram; it can change into two forms."

Cynthia frowns; being able to shift into two forms is outrageous.

Moreover, Kyurem's two forms are easy to guess, as they carry features of both Zekrom and Reshiram.

"Roar—!"

White Kyurem's tail turbines flare with hot red light; blue-purple energy accumulates into a giant sphere.

Ice-type Ice Burn! White Kyurem's signature move!

"If you're upset about what I just said about Zekrom and Reshiram, I can apologize."

Giovanni narrows his eyes slightly and addresses White Kyurem.

"But venting your violence and anger on us serves no purpose. If you're unhappy with Reshiram and Zekrom's fame, you should go find them and prove your own strength, right?"

Giovanni clearly noticed that Kyurem's first move was triggered when he mentioned Zekrom and Reshiram.

Perhaps, as the shell left by the Unova Dragon, Kyurem's attitude toward Reshiram and Zekrom isn't favorable.

"Ridiculous—such a name means nothing, and those two trash, what right do they have to compare with me?"

White Kyurem's Telepathy is icy with a cruel sneer.

In its view, Reshiram and Zekrom are ridiculous; they, its "brethren," chase after "Truth" and "Ideals" which are useless, and are simply good-for-nothing.

White Kyurem has always looked down on them.

"Yes, perhaps that's true, but who else would know?" Giovanni remains noncommittal.

From White Kyurem's words, Giovanni can clearly sense that White Kyurem has a poor view of Zekrom and Reshiram, even antagonistic.

No one knows you, Kyurem; no one knows that your strength far exceeds Zekrom and Reshiram; they only know that Reshiram and Zekrom split from the dragon long ago.

Giovanni continues.

White Kyurem stays silent; its golden dragon eyes shimmer coldly.

Yet the giant Ice Burn energy in front of White Kyurem slowly dissipates. "If history is to remember this glorious chapter, Reshiram and Zekrom are far from you, Kyurem, right?"

"Heh, humans, if you want me to help you deal with Reshiram and Zekrom's chosen Hero, then that's your call."

White Kyurem eyes Giovanni with a cold, high look.

Giovanni has long been guiding it indirectly, and it cannot ignore this.

It's not fond of wandering about outside, but it's not stupid.

"Yes." Giovanni doesn't deny it.

"We have a common enemy, Kyurem."

"Don't misunderstand me; I'm not here to help you."

White Kyurem's silhouette rises; its vision looks far ahead, sensing the auras of Reshiram and Zekrom.

Being a part of the original Unova Dragon, they are the closest "brethren," so as long as they are not too far apart, or hiding their auras, they can sense each other's presence.

White Kyurem slowly grins; its dragon face is grim.

"But you do have a point—Reshiram and Zekrom, I should bring them back into my body soon."

White Kyurem soars upward and vanishes into the sky.

Its body has been empty for too long; it needs to fill itself with "Truth" and "Ideals."

And it is the rightful heir of the Unova Dragon!

Primal Groudon tilts its head toward the direction Kyurem vanished, deep in thought and a hint of melancholy rising in its heart.

Why is everyone else strong and can fly? I'd like to try that too—being the Overlord of the Earth, standing on the ground is right! Flying? Not for me!

"Whew—"

With White Kyurem gone, Wallace sighs in relief.

Undoubtedly, White Kyurem's oppressive aura is incredibly strong, tied to its great power and rough personality.

"Looks like it went to find Reshiram and Zekrom."

Leon contemplates, then turns to Giovanni.

"Gym Leader Giovanni, you really impressed them with your words!"

Leon admires him.

If Giovanni hadn't goaded Kyurem with words, they might not have managed to escape today; at best, Primal Groudon would have carried them away.

After all, from what they saw in the clash, Kyurem's strength outclassed Primal Groudon.

"Nothing we can do about it."

Giovanni smiles wryly; he's doing his best for the League.

"But I am still curious about what Kyurem finally said, 'they should return to my body,' what does that mean?"

Cynthia chimes in, puzzled.

"Who knows? Could Kyurem possibly swallow Zekrom and Reshiram?" Wallace jokes.

Given the Unova legends, Kyurem, Zekrom, and Reshiram were born when the Unova Dragon split.

So perhaps the strongest Kyurem could absorb Zekrom and Reshiram, reforming the original Unova Dragon?

"Who knows? Let's go out first."

Giovanni recalls Groudon; Kyurem has left, and there's no point staying.

They exit the glacier canyon to the Giant Chasm.

But outside, the withered grass and trees show signs of the desolate land, and Steven and others react differently.

"Thank goodness Giovanni let Groudon control the area; that ability is terrifying."

Leon sighs; indeed the withered flora are all scorched by Desolate Land's Extreme Harsh Sunlight.

If Primal Groudon hadn't listened to Giovanni, letting Desolate Land unleash would've caused a disaster worse than Primordial Sea.

"Exactly," Cynthia agrees.

Giovanni wears a sly, subtle smile; as expected, Groudon's damage output under his commands is strong.

"Let's head back; I'm not sure whether Kyurem will go after Zekrom or Reshiram first."
