Chapter 271 - Chapter 271: The Treasure Regigigas Gave Me

"How do I snap it out of this fast?"

Damian thinks about how to quickly bring Regigigas back to its senses.

In its current berserk, irrational state, Regirock and the others are clearly out of the question; one Hyper Beam from Regigigas and they'd be half‑paralyzed at best.

After mulling it over, he still decides the best way is to beat some sense into it first.

Down on the ground, Regigigas starts moving again.

The seven "lights" on its chest begin flashing wildly.

Its huge arms twitch and jerk like they're convulsing, metal‑like "clack‑clack" sounds rattling out in a row as stone blades form all around it.

Rock‑type Stone Edge.

Regigigas swings both arms hard.

The Stone Edge blades whip forward at high speed, all aimed straight at Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y.

"Dodge."

Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y's expression doesn't change.

Its now‑smaller body turns into a streak of black light and vanishes on the spot.

"Dark Nova."

When it reappears, Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y is already behind Regigigas.

It raises its right arm. Creepy purple‑black energy pulses and condenses above its palm, swelling bigger and bigger in an instant until it becomes a massive orb of energy.

Dark‑type Dark Nova—Shadow Mewtwo's signature move.

Regigigas feels the threat at its back and whirls around fast.

White light flares along its arms as it swings both down toward Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y.

Fighting‑type Hammer Arm.

Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y hurls the Dark Nova straight at Regigigas.

Boom!

Hammer Arm slams into Dark Nova, trying to stop it from pushing forward.

Even with all the strength Regigigas can muster, it still can't hold Dark Nova back.

Dark Nova is simply too heavy; bit by bit, it keeps forcing its way down.

Regigigas lets out low, mechanical growls over and over, but it still can't stop it.

Hammer Arm gets broken through; Dark Nova crashes full‑force into Regigigas's body.

Rumble—!

Purple‑black energy explodes straight up.

The whole land shudders violently; a solid shockwave ripples outward.

Even Caitlin and the other two, standing far away, feel a fierce gust slam into their faces.

Cynthia immediately has her Garchomp jump in front of Hunter J.

If she hadn't, with injuries only just stabilized, that woman would've been seriously hurt again.

"That power's… really not bad."

Perched on Reshiram's back, Damian looks down, clearly pleased.

The ground where Regigigas was standing is now sunken into a huge crater.

The aftershock from Dark Nova has torn up and flipped chunks of earth all around.

The sheer force of that Dark Nova is obvious.

And Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y still isn't going all out.

Mega Evolution really has pushed Shadow Mewtwo's power through a qualitative leap.

Like Rayquaza versus Mega Rayquaza—it's basically two different Pokémon.

"Re‑gi."

Down at the bottom of the pit, Regigigas braces itself up with both arms.

The wounds marking its body show it took a serious hit just now.

But the aura around it has calmed down a lot; it's nowhere near as frenzied as before.

Regigigas gets to its feet.

It stares, confused, at Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y in the sky.

From Mega Shadow Mewtwo Y's body, it can feel traces of Mew's aura—but also something fundamentally different.

"Looks like you're back to yourself, Regigigas."

Damian pats Reshiram and has it fly closer to Regigigas.

He looks down at it and speaks.

Regigigas glances at Reshiram and Damian, then turns its gaze to the surroundings.

The torn‑up landscape everywhere makes it feel a stab of shame.

Now that its rage‑clouded head has cooled, it remembers exactly what it just did.

"Don't beat yourself up over it. None of this is really your fault. As long as you're calm now, that's what matters."

Damian offers Regigigas a bit of comfort.

He doesn't blame Regigigas.

If anyone's at fault, it's Hunter J.

"But your temple's gone. Where are you planning to go next?"

Damian asks Regigigas.

Under Regigigas's wild barrage just now, Snowpoint Temple was blown apart too.

Those indiscriminate Hyper Beams were no joke.

After a few extra hits, the ancient structure finally collapsed.

Regigigas looks at the toppled temple and goes even quieter.

"If you don't know where to go, how about coming with me? You've slept long enough. Time you got out and stretched your legs."

Damian seizes the chance to invite it.

Regigigas isn't exactly top‑tier among legends, but once Slow Start wears off it's at least a solid close‑combat top‑tier.

Worth a shot.

Regigigas looks Damian over again.

It can clearly sense the aura of its own "pillars" on Damian's body.

Wait. Something doesn't add up.

"Those legendary giants on you—are they with Mew now?"

That deep, mechanical Telepathy, tinged with confusion, rings in Damian's ears.

It hasn't made that many legendary giants in total.

Forging them takes energy Crystals, which Regigigas has to find on its own.

It's not exactly free all the time.

For the Regirock‑type pillars, it made two each.

For Regidrago and Regieleki, it only ever made one of each.

Especially Regidrago.

In Regigigas's own view, that pillar barely counts as half‑finished.

Halfway through molding it, the supply of dragon‑type Crystals ran dry—

Which is why Regidrago looks like just a head.

Its "body" was never actually made.

"Yeah. I caught them over by the Tree of Beginning."

"And Mew… didn't try to stop you?"

Regigigas goes quiet for a bit.

Then its Telepathy gets a little strained.

It reforged those three legendary giants to protect the Tree of Beginning—to save Mew from some of the small hassles.

It doesn't think Mew could beat Damian either.

This human has way too many legends on him.

But Regirock and the others could've at least hauled them off into the Tree of Beginning.

The tree's internal mechanisms auto‑reject humans.

That'd keep Damian out.

But then Regigigas remembers—

Damian doesn't have to go in himself.

As long as his Pokémon can enter, that's enough.

Regigigas suddenly gets it.

It's been misunderstanding Mew.

"No, I cleared it with Mew. I bought that whole region around the Tree of Beginning and have my people on guard outside. So I just went ahead and caught Regirock and the others too."

Damian smiles as he explains.

Regigigas goes silent.

Then it feels strangely relieved.

Counting on that little brat Mew to truly value the three legendary giants it left behind really was just its own wishful thinking.

"Mew does care about them, actually. When I first came into the Tree of Beginning's territory, it did try to stop me from catching them."

Damian figures he should at least put in a word for Mew.

Regigigas gives no answer to that.

Seeing that reaction, Damian figures it's going to be tough to recruit it.

"Regigigas, what do you think? I really would like us to become partners."

Damian changes the subject.

"Human, even without my help, you're already at the very top among humans."

Regigigas's Telepathy carries a quiet sigh.

"And with this body, I can't offer you that much help anyway."

It knows its own situation very well.

Every time before battle, it needs to "spin up" first.

If it doesn't, it can't bring out the full strength of this body.

It's a roundabout way of turning Damian down.

"But you did stop me. Otherwise, things might've gotten much worse. If you ever truly need my help in the future, I will come assist you."

Even so, Regigigas is honest.

It answers Damian earnestly.

"I get it. Thank you."

Damian's a bit regretful.

"But this place really isn't suitable for you to keep sleeping, Regigigas. It's exposed now."

He points it out.

Even if Regigigas doesn't care that Snowpoint Temple's basically rubble, with how loud today's spectacle was, there's no way people won't swarm here afterward.

"How about heading to the Tree of Beginning instead? I think Mew would be happy to have you there."

Damian offers another suggestion.

"I can get you there quickly."

The seven dots on Regigigas's chest flicker in and out.

It's clearly hesitating.

After thinking for a long time, Regigigas finally nods.

"Very well. Then I'll trouble you, human."

Regigigas thanks him.

"No trouble at all. The World Tree's home to a lot of my organization's Pokémon now. Having you there as a guardian puts my mind at ease."

"I will."

At that, the mechanical Telepathy holds a faint note of amusement.

Regigigas likes straightforward humans like Damian.

"Oh—right. Human, I have a treasure. Not sure if you'd be interested?"

Regigigas seems to remember something and asks Damian.

"A treasure?"

Damian's brow lifts.

If Regigigas is calling it a treasure, odds are it's something really special.

"It's a very strange thing. But it may bring you danger too."

"Let's see it."

"Wait here a moment."

Seeing Damian's genuine interest, Regigigas walks over to the ruins of Snowpoint Temple.

After scraping around for a while, it finally digs something up from underground—a dirt‑caked, ancient box.

Reshiram lands.

Damian hops down from its back.

He doesn't care about the grime at all and flips the box open directly.

Soft purple light immediately washes over his face.

Inside the box sits a round globe, glowing with a faint pinkish‑purple sheen, a strange divine aura flowing from it.

"This is…"

Damian stares at the round globe in shock.

He recognizes it.

But why does Regigigas have this?

Did it just pick it up at some point over the years?

No wonder Regigigas said it might bring danger.

If the original owner of this treasure senses its aura, they'll probably rush over immediately.

With that thought, Damian snaps the lid shut again at once.

"Regigigas, I really like this gift. Thank you."

After a moment of thought, his lips curl up as he thanks Regigigas.

This really is a pleasant surprise.
