"What do you all think of the team of Silver Mirror and Swain Li?"
With twelve hours left until the Xiangshan Advanced Race, Derek Su called an emergency meeting in the club's conference room.
All Mecha Girls and operators, except for Vanessa, were required to attend. No absences allowed.
"Boss, yawn! Don't lose your mind in the middle of the night. Let us get some sleep so tomorrow you and Purple Lightning can get a good... good... result... zzz..." Tunbao stretched, but before she could even finish speaking, she slumped against the sofa and fell asleep. With each breath, a snot bubble bobbed up and down on her nose.
Tunbao's washer fluid was impressively elastic.
Derek Su's face darkened, but he did not wake her.
This meeting would be the same with or without Tunbao anyway. Let her sleep.
He glanced at Purple Lightning. The girl clearly could not sleep. She was staring at him with wide, round eyes, hugging her knees as she huddled timidly in the corner of the sofa. With that pitiful little look, anyone who did not know better would think she was being sent to the execution ground tomorrow.
"Master, I think the intel from Leon Li and Snowpeak is pretty reliable. They're both strong competitors, so if even they think this opponent is difficult, that means..." Stella, dressed in little dinosaur pajamas, paused. Her eyes were serious, as though she were carefully choosing her words.
"It means what?" Derek Su asked.
"It means they're very difficult."
Derek Su: "..."
Forget it. The King of Pineapple was not reliable either.
He turned to the tall beauty on the other side, who was hugging a pink pig plushie. "Imperial Scale, what do you think?"
"I don't remember them." Imperial Scale frowned slightly.
Back when she had still been an AI Core, Mecha Island would play race footage to train them. Of course, how much they absorbed depended on the Mecha Girl herself. Some Mecha Girls would gain stronger performance, or even be born with a degree of driving technique. Others might absorb nothing at all, gaining neither improved performance nor technique. That was the fate of most ordinary Mecha Girls.
Mecha Island would prioritize showing them footage of outstanding pilots and Mecha Girls.
After that, they could choose the race footage of a specific pilot and Mecha Girl to study in depth.
If Silver Mirror and Swain Li were truly that strong, she should have remembered them.
For example, she had seen footage of Leon Li and Snowpeak as well. She simply had no interest in them.
In the end, she had chosen to absorb knowledge only from Derek Su and Stella's race footage.
"Boss, I did find some information on Swain Li and Silver Mirror."
Absolute Shadow suddenly stepped forward and clapped her hands.
A Mecha Girl from the logistics department immediately entered through the door and handed her a file.
She quickly scanned through it, then said with a strange expression, "Swain Li and Silver Mirror really are strong. Judging from his race footage before he joined the Crown Club, his mastery of launch control and Drifting is absolutely no worse than Leon Li's. The strangest part is his Mecha Girl. During races, her form changes. Like a replica, she takes on the appearance of other Mecha Girls."
"I know. Leon Li told me Silver Mirror's special ability is replication."
Derek Su nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly. "But it definitely isn't as simple as copying!"
"Exactly," Absolute Shadow said. "From the data I've gathered, after Silver Mirror copies other Mecha Girls, her overall performance becomes even stronger than theirs. There's just one thing I don't understand. If Swain Li and Silver Mirror are this strong, why have we never heard of them before? They're far too low profile."
"Maybe it's not just a matter of being low profile."
Derek Su took the file from Absolute Shadow.
Inside were photos of Swain Li and Silver Mirror.
Swain Li looked like an ordinary, clean cut young man, while Silver Mirror wore a mask that covered her entire face, revealing only her eyes.
The moment he saw their photos, he felt that the two of them were remarkably forgettable.
The instant he closed his eyes, the images of Swain Li and Silver Mirror blurred in his mind.
"So they're the type with a naturally weak presence?" he murmured in surprise.
This was not the first time he had encountered someone like that. In his previous life, there had been several genius racers of this type.
Sometimes, he had to admit that having a weak presence was a rare talent.
In certain professions, that talent could be terrifying.
Secret agents, for example. Police officers and detectives as well.
Of course, it was also an advantage for a race car driver. As long as no one noticed you, you were less likely to be targeted.
Perhaps that was why Swain Li and Silver Mirror had achieved quite a bit, yet had never been heavily promoted by the media. If Leon Li and Snowpeak had not specifically sent him an anonymous email as a warning, he probably would not have paid any attention to what kind of newcomers the Crown Club had brought in.
As for how he recognized the email...
It was mainly because Leon Li and Snowpeak's habit of writing one sentence each was far too familiar.
Besides, those two were practically glued together. Even an email had to be written jointly.
Looking at the file in front of him, Derek Su fell into thought.
They now knew that Silver Mirror's special ability was replication.
But there were still many unclear points.
First, could Silver Mirror replicate the special abilities of top level Mecha Girls?
Second, could Silver Mirror replicate a Mecha Girl's performance stats?
If she could replicate stats, would the attributes from installed Modules be included?
If the attributes from Modules were included, then would the attribute points he had added to Purple Lightning also be replicated?
Setting aside the question of how good Swain Li's driving skills really were, this pair truly made him feel uneasy.
As far as he knew, Mecha Girls with performance stats over one hundred were extremely rare. So far, he had never seen one.
Perhaps one hundred was already the limit.
But Stella's acceleration had passed one hundred long ago.
If Stella's performance were copied by Silver Mirror, would the secret of her acceleration exceeding one hundred be exposed?
He really might end up getting dragged off and dissected like some alien specimen.
"Master."
A gentle voice sounded beside his ear, and a cool, soft hand slipped into his palm.
Derek Su froze, then instinctively turned his head.
Purple Lightning was holding his hand. Her fair, resolute face was serious, and her gaze was firm.
"No matter what kind of opponent we face tomorrow, I'll give it everything I have!" she said with absolute conviction.
Derek Su paused for a moment. His tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed.
Worrying so much in advance was completely pointless.
Purple Lightning was the one racing tomorrow, and none of her current stats had broken one hundred.
As long as they raced against Swain Li and Silver Mirror once and analyzed it carefully afterward, they should be able to get a rough idea of how Silver Mirror's skill worked.
There was really no need to worry over nothing.
With that thought, he relaxed a little.
He wrapped his hand around Purple Lightning's small one and smiled encouragingly.
"Alright. Tomorrow, we'll give it our best together!"
