Chapter 82 - Chapter 78 — It’s Been a While

Two days had passed, and Sam was still waiting for his order.

He was currently on a bench press—mainly due to boredom.

Everyone else worked on their ultimate moves with the staff.

However, he was waiting for something.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

Sam got up from the bench and wiped the sweat off his face.

His muscles were nice and sore—blissfully aching after a productive workout.

He picked up his phone which was still ringing.

"Hello?"

"Hello, my ass! What the fuck Sam?!?"

Sam moved the phone away from his ear after hearing Rumi's loud voice rip into his ear.

"Jesus, calm down. I take it my 'goodies' arrived?"

Sam said as he picked up a water bottle next to the bench.

"Yeah, idiot! What the hell is this?!? Why are some Gajin's coming over with a big ass box?!?"

Sam huffed.

"It's called military grade equipment. A few things I ordered are a bit… illegal in this pathetic country. So I had a friend buy some goodies for me."

Sam said—completely nonchalantly.

Meanwhile, Rumi felt her temper reaching its peak.

"So what does that make me?!? Some mule?!? Am I supposed to bring this shit over to you?!?"

"Oh, sweetie thank you! I will take you up on that. I got some tasty carrots waiting for you once you get here with my box."

"What?!? Wait! What the-"

Sam promptly hung up.

He sighed.

"She's gonna kick my ass… but damn it I need that shit."

Sam decided to go outside the building to wait for her. He knew she would come through.

Ever since that cruel final exam he had to take, he was given access to leave the building.

He could have sent the goods he ordered to the school, but they would confiscate them. Sam had legal goods in there, but if he wanted to smuggle in the illegal stuff, he needed to take it out and carry it in hand in case the staff search it.

Sam didn't know if that will be necessary, but he paid all his money from his job at the construction site for this stuff and he wasn't going to let the stingy staff to take it. It was necessary for him.

He decided to just go outside and receive her as he is… considering she might beat the snot out of him.

———

"Suzuki."

"Yeah?"

"Mirko."

"Yo!"

Right now, in front of UA, Rumi and Sam were right in front of a narrow-eyed Aizawa—who was looking at the big box with an American flag and a US Army logo stamped into it.

However, he had to comment on something else first.

"…What the hell happened to your face?"

Aizawa looked up at Sam… and saw a beat up and bloodied Sam who had a giant footprint etched into the side of his face.

Right next to him, was a chipper Rumi.

"Oh… I just had a run in with a Rabbid beast, totally uncute-SHIT!"

Sam nearly fell face first to the floor after getting a quick elbow to the kidney.

"I meant to say… I tripped."

Aizawa deadpanned—obviously not buying this at all.

"You tripped."

"Yup. If you'd excuse me, I'd like to see Recovery Girl about my injuries."

Aizawa returned his gaze to the box.

"Alright, what about the box?"

"Did Power Loader not tell you? I ordered some goods. Don't worry. It's all legal, just military grade material. Hard for you heroes to get."

Aizawa looked at Sam with narrowed eyes.

He didn't know why, but something was strange.

"Okay… but why would Mirko deliver it?"

Sam smiled.

"Obviously because I trust her with my things more than U.A. So why would I trust sending expensive material to you guys who snuck into my room and invaded my privacy for a cruel and evil test?"

He had a closed-eye smile that was obviously fake.

Aizawa winced.

He wouldn't forget how he invaded Sam's privacy with Nezu, all to find a weakness.

It was his most shameful moment, so he couldn't deny Sam's lack of trust.

He closed his eyes and sighed.

"Fine. Take it to Power Loader, then head to Recovery Girl."

Aizawa turned away and walked back inside, leaving Sam and Rumi outside with the box.

"Whew. Thanks Rumi. You came through."

"You're so fucking lucky I didn't cave your skull in. Using me as a mule like that! Fucker! Hmph!"

She cutely pouted.

Sam blushed seeing that.

'Fuck that is absolutely adorable!'

He really was weak to cute things. Despite being so macho, Rumi had a tendency to be cute sometimes. It was quite the sight.

He shook out of his thoughts.

"Alright, well I better head to Power Loader. Thanks again for this. Go to the Lunchroom and ask Lunch Rush for anything. Tell him it's on Sam's tab. He'll hook you up."

"Tch!"

Rumi clicked her tongue and walked inside—begrudgingly taking up his offer to eat Lunch Rush's gourmet shit.

Sam watched her leave—totally not staring at her ass—before picking up the box and carrying it.

"Holy shit!"

He forgot. Rumi was a meta-human. She's got rabbit limbs so she could take the strain of this heavy box better.

He picked it up, but he had a feeling it would be quite the workout.

"Good thing I didn't change my workout gear…"

He said with a red face.

This would be brutal.

———

After a good 45 minutes, Sam finally arrived outside the support department.

Once he was close enough, he ungracefully dropped the heavy box, making a loud sound in the hallway.

"What was that?!?"

The door to the studio shot open—revealing a panicked and defensive Power Loader.

After looking around for a moment, as soon as he saw the exhausted and sweaty Sam, he eased his nerves.

"Oh! Was that bang your doing? Also, why are you soaked in sweat?"

Sam had his hands on his knees, taking deep breaths—making him taste a metallic taste with each huff.

His Under Armour shirt was stuck to his body—even more than it should.

"Phew! Sorry. I had to carry this box. It's heavy."

He leaned back and heard his back crack.

He groaned in pain after that before looking relieved after cracking his back.

He then motioned to the box he dropped.

"Here you go."

He said—still breathing heavily.

Power Loader looked at the box and saw the American flag and the Army logo on it.

His eyes widened when he saw it.

"No way… is that…"

Sam smiled and nodded.

His breathing was getting better.

"Yeah. With this you should be good."

Power Loader looked excited.

"You got it, kid! Leave it to me!"

"TO US!!! I WANT IN!!!"

The door busted open again revealing the pink dreadlock girl who looked like she was about to go to an amusement park.

Power Loader sighed.

"Alright. But you will listen to what I say! This is high quality material! We can't mess this up!"

"YESSIR!!!

She cheered.

Sam just sweat-dropped at this.

'Is it a good idea to leave it to them?'

"I promise. She might be a little… destructive, but she is really talented! I promise!"

As if he read his thoughts, Power Loader eased Sam's worries and vouched for her.

He was still a bit cautious about leaving it to her, but he had to get it made.

He could only trust them.

"Fine. Please don't mess this up. I used every last dime in my name for this shit."

Power Loader nodded enthusiastically.

"Leave it to us!"

"Yippie!! Let's make a baby!!!!"

Both Power Loader and Mei exclaimed.

Sam felt his eye twitch at Mei's wording, but decided to just leave before he loses all faith in them.

"I'll be going."

He said as he walked away.

He wanted to go to Recovery Girl next, but he had to make a pit stop at the dorms.

After all, he still had something he needed to store in his room.

———

Rumi was not happy.

She had a long night of patrolling, and wanted to rest for the day.

But that was ruined when she received an unexpected delivery.

It was a big ass heavy box. Luckily she was strong and could lift it, but even she admitted it was heavy stuff.

She saw who it was sent to, and immediately knew what was going on.

Sam used her address for deliveries.

At first, she was fine with it. After all, she understood his outrage with the faculty of U.A.

After all, she played a huge part in that fucked up test.

When she learned they went through his things and found the picture of him and Zola, she wanted to butcher the rat for it. However, upon listening to the audio from the hallway where the nurses office and his room at the time were, she couldn't ignore it.

She shuddered when she heard his cries and screams in that recording. She even cried—and threatened to murder the staff who saw it if they told anyone.

So when he sent a delivery to her house, she planned to just notify him and bring it over.

But then, she caught something… concerning.

As a hero, she had quite the strong nose, also due to her rabbit quirk. She was very knowledgeable of different chemicals and agents that could be harmful to others.

And to her surprise, the box held a stench of tranquilizers

Not just any tranquilizers, but tranquilizers that are deadly if not handled carefully. The type she smelled in the box was definitely illegal.

She couldn't overlook that.

She called him to get him to explain, but he just hung up on her!

Still, she brought it to him—and she kicked his face in.

He explained what he needed it for and why he needed it so desperately. After hearing his explanation, she decided to help him out. He was due to take the license exam and he didn't have time to wait for approval.

Now, after successfully smuggling his stuff in, she was eating some of the most delicious vegetarian food she ever ate.

"Mmmm. Goddamn it's good."

She couldn't help but smile in bliss.

"Glad to hear it!"

Lunch Rush walked past her and gave her a thumbs up after hearing her praise.

She gave him one in return.

"You seem to be having a blast."

"Eep!"

She nearly jumped out of her chair after being snuck up on.

She was so immersed in her food that someone snuck up behind her.

She turned around and was met by the blushing face of Sam.

"Whoah… two in one day…"

Rumi felt as if she was going to pop a vein in anger.

"You!"

"Whoah chill! I just got back from Recovery Girl!"

"Tch!"

She just clicked her tongue and sat back down.

Sam sighed in relief—being spared from Rumi's wrath.

"So, how's the food?"

She nodded in affirmation.

"Awesome."

Sam smirked.

"I thought you'd like it. I forgot the guy has Vegan shit."

Rumi raised an eyebrow at that.

"You can't even taste food, right? So why do you sound so judgy of Vegans?"

Sam scoffed.

"I didn't always not have taste! It was only after I returned to Japan. I had to eat plants all the time. It wasn't exactly tasty."

Sam had a sour look on his face as he remembered the stuff he ate as he tried to survive in the Nyungwe forest.

Rumi gave Sam a sympathetic look.

Not pity. She would never pity him. After all, pity was for those who gave up after all their suffering—either on themselves or the world.

Sam was still kicking. He was the most incredible person she ever met. That's what made her fall for him.

"What? You're blushing again."

He interrupted her thoughts.

She snapped out it an went back to eating.

Sam just watched her eat—finding her eating face cute.

She really had all the features of a rabbit—even the cuteness.

———

For the next two days, Sam would wait for Power Loader and Mei to finish his request.

Meanwhile, he would spend his time exercising, hanging out with Rumi, and working on his hidden weapon for the exam.

He was already finished with his secret weapon and was proud of how it turned out. He had to be careful when assembling it, because if he was a bit off the mark with his measurements, he could kill someone.

Luckily, he tested the final product on none other than himself.

It was stupid and he was certain he would hear some shit from Aizawa and Rumi. But he was confident in his ability, and his confidence was not unfounded.

He was on his phone, looking through news articles on the crimes around the area.

Although he doubted that the Pale Hand and Ra would harm innocents just to get him, he needed to be sure.

Thankfully, none of the crimes he read about resembled anything of a high-trained militant. Only petty villain crimes.

"Suzuki."

He looked up from his phone and saw Aizawa.

"Yeah?"

"Power Loader called for you."

Sam immediately smirked hearing that.

"Alright."

He got up and walked out.

Aizawa had a bad feeling. Something told him that Sam was up to something.

"What the hell are you up to, kid?"

He mumbled to himself as he watched Sam walk away with his hands in his basketball shorts pockets.

———

"Have you guys seen Sam recently? He hasn't been giving tips or hanging out with us."

Kaminari, who was testing out his improved hero costume, noticed that Sam had been missing for a while.

"Now that I think about it, you're right."

Kirishima, also sporting a new costume, looked around worriedly.

Izuku recalled when he ran into Sam by the support department.

"I think he might be trying to work with the support department. Me, Uraraka and Iida ran into him on our way over there."

Izuku had been working on a new combat style with Mei from the support department. He got new soles in his shoes since he wants to make his style focus around kicking.

So far, he has made something that felt unique to him. He called it "Shoot Style."

Meanwhile, not far from them, Aizawa and All Might were discussing Izuku's improvements.

"It's not quite an ultimate move."

Aizawa questioned Midoriya's new style.

"This is a big step in the right direction. He is improving. That's what matters!"

All Might proudly exclaimed.

Their attention is caught by the loud explosions from the other students making their own ultimate moves.

Aizawa looked at All Might and saw how weak he was.

"Be careful not to get too close, All Might."

All Might sighed in lament—realizing he had to be protected now, instead of being the one who protects.

"Stop looking so pathetic. Mourning your decaying body is pointless. Just focus on helping in other ways."

Aizawa was shocked. He was a hero who could always sneak better than anyone and could always sense someone approaching him.

But someone actually snuck up on him.

He swiftly turned around and was shocked at what he saw.

"Suzuki?"

"Wow. Even the great Eraserhead couldn't hear me? Looks like it works."

All Might also turned around.

Before them, Sam stood in a new outfit.

But it was not a hero outfit. This… looked like military grade gear.

He was wearing a skintight, black body suit. With it, he had a bullet proof vest over it. He also had black gloves and black boots, both of which were of the highest quality. He also had a hood to hide his eye-catching white hair.

What really caught Aizawa's attention was his arsenal.

He was strapped with a Glock on his front. Something that should be impossible.

And attached to his hip was what looked to be a black steel sword.

(Image)

"Suzuki… what is that?"

Sam looked down, looking proudly at his outfit.

"It's a sneaking suit. That's why you couldn't hear me."

Aizawa pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I meant the gun… where the hell did you get it?"

Sam unholstered it.

"This is a modified Glock 18—it's special as it doesn't have the intense power of a normal 18. I doubt it could pierce into one's vitals. Don't worry, it doesn't have live ammunition in it."

Sam looks down at it with pride.

"Then, what's the purpose?"

Sam decided to show and not tell.

He walked over to his classmates who were still working on their ultimate moves.

"Hey, is that Sam?"

"Oh yeah! It is!"

"Woah! He looks so cool!"

He heard some of his classmates comments.

"Whoah! What's with the getup?"

Kirishima approached him with eyes glowing.

"You look like an assassin!"

Kaminari pitches in his thoughts.

"Is that a handgun?!? Is that allowed?!?"

Iida approached and did his arm chopping after seeing the Glock in Sam's hand.

"Don't worry. It's not lethal. Like Snipe, I have non-lethal ammo in here."

That calmed Iida down a bit.

"I must admit… that is quite the… interesting costume…"

Yaoyorozu—who was behind Sam—said in a soft and meek voice.

He turned around and saw a few girls with blushing faces behind him.

"What's up?"

He asked them.

The blushes on their faces got even more red—in Mina's case, purple.

"Well… umm… you know…"

Uraraka waves her hands around trying to come up with words.

"Your butt is popping out of that skintight suit. Kero."

Asui flat out admits—not able to contain her blushing face either.

Sam looks at them like they are insane.

"You guys wear skintight suits, why can't I? They are practical outfits."

"What do you mean?"

Hagakure asked—even though she doesn't have a costume.

"I mean, that if you are cut with a knife, the pressure of the fabric against your skin can stop the bleeding. It's not perfect but it is very handy for gunshots and knives."

Sam lectured his classmates, who were all interested.

They all stood silently, taking in this new info.

"…but hot damn, you're packing."

Mina piped up still blushing purple on her face as she was clearly staring.

Sam just walked up to her and playfully chopped her head.

"Ouch!"

She pouted and rubbed her head.

"Anyway, anyone want to fight? I wanna see how you guys improved."

They all looked at each other before someone raised a hand from the back.

They all turned around and saw none other than Midoriya raising his hand.

"Sam, I would like to spar!"

Sam smirked at that. He could tell he has gotten better.

"Very well."

Sam gestured for the others to move aside.

Midoriya looked at his classmates and gave them a nod to do as he said.

After they moved, Sam and Midoriya faced each other.

"Alright. Let's begin."

Sam got into his stance, ready to intercept any attack.

Midoriya suddenly turned into red lightning and launched at Sam.

Sam's eyes widened.

'This is new.'

He dodged a blow that aimed for his head. A kick.

He recalled how he used his feet to beat Stain.

'So he made a new style? I can also see those shoes are unique. If I had to guess, the psycho at the support studio must have made something for him.'

Sam deduced in his mind, already coming up with counters for him.

Midoriya quickly charged at Sam again.

Sam was ready for it and saw Midoriya try and kick him from his left side, this time he tried to feint him.

His kick looked like it was going to his head, but Midoriya quickly adjusted to Sam's abdomen.

Midoriya's foot was heading right toward Sam and it struck… his arm.

Pop!

"Grr."

Sam growled in pain.

He moved his hand to grab the leg before it could hit his abdomen.

He felt the power of it as his arm was definitely dislocated.

Midoriya had wide eyes as he saw what Sam just did.

Before he could react, he brought up his handgun and fired point blank.

Pew! Pew! Pew!

The shots were silent compared to actual gunfire, but were still loud enough to catch everyone's attention.

They all watched with horror as three bullets enter into Midoriya's chest.

"Gahh…"

That was all Midoriya could say before he fell to the ground, unconscious.

"""MIDORIYA!!"""

"DEKU!"

His classmates saw the bleeding and unconscious Midoriya who was just shot in the chest three times.

They ran up to him with fear.

Uraraka felt like she was about to vomit—not due to her quirk this time.

Iida was shaking as he saw his friend with three bullets in his chest.

Todoroki was biting his lip so hard it bled.

Aizawa had a look of rage and All Might was too stunned to move.

Aizawa was about to apprehend Sam.

Snore!

Snore!

They all heard snoring coming from Midoriya.

Todoroki, who was closest to Midoriya's neck, felt for a pulse.

Luckily, he felt a pulse.

With a sigh of relief, he smiled at the others.

"It's okay. He is only asleep."

"I told you guys it's nonlethal."

Sam admitted still feeling the pain of his dislocated arm.

The other students who were on edge took deep breaths of relief.

"We totally thought you killed him."

"Wow. That was hardcore."

"Totally metal."

Kirishima, Kaminari and Jiro commented.

"Suzuki… explain yourself."

Aizawa said—eyes glowing red and hair flying.

"It's as I said. It's non-lethal. These are tranquilizer bullets."

All Might and Aizawa's eyes widened.

""Tranquilizer bullets?!?""

The students had an idea what that meant considering Midoriya was unconscious, but were confused at the teachers reactions.

"But… how did you make those?!? Those are very dangerous!"

All Might complained.

"Not to mention illegal. Where did you-

He then recalled the box Mirko brought.

He narrowed his eyes.

"Give that to me."

Sam holstered it.

"No way, I bought it."

"Suzuki. Give. It. Now."

Sam wasn't willing to give it up.

Aizawa wasn't happy either.

All Might could only watch as it seemed like these two were going to fight.

The students, who were checking on Midoriya were now looking at this interaction—except Uraraka who was still shaken about Midoriya being shot.

Sam didn't back down, and neither did Aizawa.

They just stared.

Just as it seemed they were about to go at each other.

"Well this is interesting. Would you two please come to my office?"

Suddenly the speakers in the gym turned on and an amused voice spoke.

Sam eased up and so did Aizawa—but the tension between them was still strong.

Sam nodded at Aizawa.

Aizawa still had his quirk activated, still trying—and failing—to scare Sam.

After a second, he turned it off and sighed.

He then made his way to the principals office, and Sam followed behind him.

All Might also followed Sam.

The students could only watch them leave.

As the tension calmed down, they could finally breathe again.

"Holy shit…"

"Yeah."

"That was manly!"

"That was illegal!"

"Well… it's not lethal though."

The students started to chat among themselves.

Snore!

Until they heard the snores again and realized Midoriya was still out cold.

"Well… we should take him to the nurse."

Kaminari rubbed the back of his head.

"Yeah. Let's go."

Kirishima and Kaminari both put an arm around their necks and hauled him to the nurses office.

The other students just hoped Sam wouldn't be in too much trouble.

Even if he scared the crap out of them, they still cared deeply for him. So they could only wait for him and the teachers to return.
