"Hold the line! There's a Pokémon this strong guarding the place—there must be incredibly valuable treasures inside!"
The leader of the Pokémon hunters shouted loudly.
The word treasure clearly stimulated the group. The remaining hunters sped up their attacks even further.
The Rhyperior was a peak veteran-level Pokémon. Although its raw strength surpassed every Pokémon present, it couldn't withstand being besieged from all sides. Moreover, Rhyperior was a pure power-type Pokémon and lacked agility. Attacks coming from every direction left it struggling to respond.
Fortunately, its astonishing defense allowed it to endure the onslaught without falling. However, the continuous barrage still suppressed it completely, preventing it from advancing—or threatening the attacking Pokémon in any way.
"At this rate, that Rhyperior won't last much longer," Mu Xue said, preparing to let Walrein make a move.
Oliver stopped her.
"Let me try this time."
Under Mu Xue's puzzled gaze, Oliver released Milotic.
The moment Milotic appeared, Mu Xue's eyes widened.
This felt completely different from before.
It had… grown stronger again?
Although Milotic had once trained under Mu Xue for a period of time, after months of development, it had long since stepped away from her path and forged one entirely its own.
Last time, Milotic had fallen into a deep sleep after absorbing natural energy. That state lasted only one day, so it didn't affect their schedule at all.
And when Milotic awoke, it brought Oliver a massive surprise.
Pokémon: Milotic
Level: Gym-level Mid Tier
Potential: Champion-class
Abilities: Adaptability, Marvel Scale, Primordial Water (50%)
Held Item: Mystic Water
Moves: Surf, Ice Beam, Protect, Aqua Tail, Life Dew, Dragon Tail, Icy Wind, Whirlpool, Rain Dance, Nature Power, Hydro Pump…
Evaluation:
Possessing a trace of the origin power of the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre and having mastered the method of absorbing natural energy, it may one day become the next Kyogre itself!
After just one night of absorbing natural energy, Milotic not only pushed the Primordial Water ability to 50%, but also broke through to Gym-level Mid Tier.
Ever since absorbing Primordial Water, Milotic had been stuck at Gym-level Low Tier for a long time. Finally taking another step forward was no small matter.
With such a significant improvement, Oliver naturally wanted to test Milotic's current strength—and this was the perfect opportunity.
The Pokémon hunters' Pokémon were still attacking Rhyperior when three Water Guns suddenly shot out from the side, instantly striking three Pokémon and knocking them out cold!
"Who was that?!"
"A Milotic?!"
"What?! That's a Milotic?!"
The hunters erupted in shock.
In the past, people had offered 500 million Alliance Credits just to obtain a Milotic—yet none succeeded. Only after Oliver revealed that Milotic evolved from Feebas did its price begin to drop. Even so, a Milotic was still worth as much as a fully evolved pseudo-legendary.
Even among pseudo-legendaries, the price difference between juvenile and final forms was enormous—yet Milotic still matched them. That alone showed just how rare it was.
"There are people behind it!"
Finally, someone noticed Oliver and Mu Xue standing behind Milotic.
"Hey, kid! That Milotic yours?" the leader shouted.
Since Oliver had already made Milotic's evolution line public, others had begun raising Milotic too. As a result, they didn't immediately associate it with him.
"Didn't expect this—today we get both ancient relics and a Milotic!"
"Kid, hand it over nicely. I'm in a good mood—might even let you live."
"Heh."
Oliver chuckled lightly.
"Come at me together."
The hunters were instantly furious.
"Refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit! Get him!"
Everyone knew how much Milotic was worth on the black market. In the hunters' eyes, the Pokémon before them wasn't Milotic anymore—it was a pile of shining gold.
For a moment, they even ignored Rhyperior entirely, all rushing toward Milotic instead.
Watching the swarm of Pokémon charging forward, Oliver remained completely calm.
"Milotic," he commanded softly,
"Surf. Then Water Pulse."
The air trembled as the battlefield was about to be drowned beneath overwhelming tides.
