Jenna returned to Caroline late at night. She had expected her to be asleep, but Caroline was still awake, waiting. The moment she saw Jenna, she rushed toward her, apologizing again and again—but then her eyes froze. Blood stained Jenna's clothes. The wound had already healed, but the marks remained. Caroline's expression shattered into shock and confusion. "What happened?" she asked, her voice trembling as tears filled her eyes. She grabbed Jenna's arms, panic rising inside her. "Is this… because of me?" Jenna gently held her shoulders and calmed her down. "It's not your fault." But Caroline couldn't believe it. Her voice cracked. "Then what happened?"
Jenna let out a quiet breath. "I went to the Blackthorne mansion… to ask Maekal to let us stay here for a while." Caroline's face fell. Guilt filled her heart. Because of me… she had to go there. Her expression hardened slightly. "Did Maekal do this?" she asked, anger rising in her voice. Jenna shook her head. "No." Caroline's eyes widened. "Then who? Who did this to you?" Jenna looked at her carefully, noticing the anger burning behind her tears. "Why?" she asked softly. "Are you planning to take revenge?" Caroline didn't answer, but her silence said everything—anger, sadness, and guilt were all mixed inside her. Jenna understood.
"It wasn't Maekal," she said quietly. "It was his brother… Kael." Her voice grew heavier. "He's dangerous. Don't ever go near him. Even if I die… don't think about revenge."
Caroline frowned, confused. "Who are these Blackthorne brothers? Why are you so afraid of them? And how do you know so much about them?" Jenna looked away for a moment before answering. "Because… they were the ones who taught me how to control my bloodlust. They took care of me when I first became a vampire. To me… they were like family." Her eyes darkened. "But do you have any idea how dangerous they really are? What Kael did to my friends… what Maekal did to an entire kingdom in a single night…" Her voice trembled slightly. "Do you think they're just normal demons? One is more dangerous than the other. So even if I die… don't ever think about taking revenge for me."
Caroline's lips trembled. "So… it's because of me, right? If I had just come with you… none of this would have happened…"
Jenna looked at her, and for a moment, something changed in her expression. Her eyes hardened, filled with something darker. "No," she said slowly. "This isn't because of you." Her voice dropped. "I'm going to take my revenge… on Kael Blackthorne."
Caroline didn't understand. She looked at Jenna, her brows furrowed, her heart beating faster as she saw the expression on her face. Jenna's face was filled with anger—cold, deep, and burning in a way Caroline had never seen before. It wasn't just anger… it was pain. "You said they are dangerous…" Caroline said slowly, her voice uncertain. Jenna didn't look away. "They are," she replied calmly, her tone steady. There was a brief silence before she added, "But I will kill Kael Blackthorne. I will take my revenge." Caroline's breath caught. "Because… he killed your friends?" she asked softly.
Jenna nodded… then slowly shook her head. "Not just my friends…" A small tear slipped down her cheek. "…he killed my love."
Caroline froze. She had never seen Jenna like this—so strong, yet so broken at the same time. "What happened?" she asked gently, afraid of what she might hear. Jenna closed her eyes for a moment, as if gathering the strength to relive those memories. When she opened them again, they felt distant… lost somewhere in the past.
"120 years ago… I met someone. His name was John. He was a vampire… just like me." A faint, bittersweet smile appeared on her lips. "I was the one who taught him how to control his bloodlust. I watched him struggle… I helped him become better." Her voice softened. "I don't know when it happened… but I fell in love with him." She paused slightly. "And he loved me too."
Her expression changed, warmth mixing with quiet pain. "We were happy. Truly happy. We were vampires, so we didn't age… we didn't have to fear losing each other like humans do. Many vampires choose to stay alone, because love is our greatest weakness. Watching the person you love grow old and die… it destroys you." She looked down, her voice lowering. "But John… he was a vampire too. So I thought… I thought I could have something eternal. Something that would never end."
A soft breath escaped her. "We lived a simple life. We couldn't have children… so we just lived peacefully. I found others like us—vampires who didn't want to hurt anyone. We built a small village together." Her eyes softened slightly at the memory. "We had daylight rings, so we could walk in the sun like normal humans. We fed on animals… sometimes humans, but only enough to survive. We didn't harm anyone. We just lived quietly… like normal people."
For a moment, everything felt calm again—like those memories were real.
Then her expression darkened.
"Everything was going smoothly…"
Her voice dropped.
"And then… he came."
A cold silence filled the air.
"Kael Blackthorne."
Caroline felt a chill run down her spine. Jenna's eyes hardened, filled with pain, anger, and something much deeper. He and Maekal raised me… they were like father figures to me," Jenna continued, her voice heavy with emotion. "So I trusted him. I introduced him to my lover, John… and to my family. I thought he would be happy for me." A bitter smile formed on her lips. "But he wasn't."
She looked down, her hands trembling slightly. "He stayed with us for a few days… acting normal. And then one day, he suddenly called John and took him outside. I didn't think much of it… I thought it was just a normal conversation."
Her voice slowly broke. "But after some time… John came back."
Caroline held her breath.
"His clothes were soaked in blood… his mouth covered in it."
Jenna's eyes filled with pain. "I understood immediately. He had fed on human blood. And once a vampire tastes it… they lose control. The hunger consumes them." Her voice trembled. "John was still young… he couldn't control it."
Tears streamed down her face.
"He killed everyone in the village…"
Silence.
"He came back to me… crying… shaking… saying, 'I killed everyone… I killed everyone…'" Her voice cracked under the weight of those words. "His voice was filled with guilt… with pain…"
Caroline's heart tightened.
"I asked him what happened…" Jenna whispered. "And he said… Kael forced him to drink human blood."
Her fists clenched.
"I asked him where Kael was… but he didn't know."
She took a shaky breath. "I tried to calm him down, but he was in shock. He wasn't listening to me. He was breaking…"
Her voice dropped. "So I knocked him unconscious. Vampires don't die that easily… if we break their head, they just lose consciousness."
She closed her eyes for a moment. "I placed him on the bed… and went to find Kael."
A pause.
"Then I heard a scream."
Her eyes opened slowly.
"I ran toward it… and what I saw…"
Her voice turned hollow.
"…my friend… was already dead."
Caroline's body stiffened.
"Kael…" Jenna whispered, her voice filled with hatred. "He was killing them. One by one. My friends… my family…"
Her breathing grew uneven. "I screamed at him to stop."
Her eyes darkened.
"He looked at me… smiled… and killed another one right in front of me."
Caroline felt a chill run down her spine.
"He tore out their heart… and threw it at me."
Jenna's voice shook with rage.
"I attacked him. With everything I had. I used my speed… my strength…" She let out a bitter laugh. "But it was useless. He dodged everything. Countered everything. Because he was the one who taught me how to fight."
Her voice dropped.
"He grabbed my neck… lifted me into the air… and said, 'You think you can beat me? Don't forget who taught you how to fight.'"
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
"I asked him… 'Why are you doing this?'"
She clenched her jaw.
"And he said… 'Why don't you find out yourself?'"
A pause.
"Then he threw me aside… and asked…" Her voice trembled. "'Where is your lover?'"
Her eyes filled with pure hatred.
"I lost control. I used everything I had. I fought… attacked… pushed myself beyond my limits…"
Her voice grew weaker.
"But it didn't matter."
She looked down.
"He was stronger. Older. A demon."
Her hands tightened.
"I kept fighting… even when my body was breaking… even when I couldn't stand anymore…"
A deep breath.
"Until I collapsed."
Silence.
"He punched me… and everything went dark."
A long pause filled the room.
"When I opened my eyes…" her voice trembled, "I saw Kael… standing in front of John."
Caroline's breath stopped.
"I didn't understand what was happening…"
Jenna's voice broke completely.
"And then… he cut his head off."
Tears streamed uncontrollably.
"With his bare hands…"
Her body trembled.
"John's head… fell right in front of me."
Silence.
"I screamed… I cried… I begged…" Her voice shattered. "But it didn't matter…"
She clenched her chest tightly.
"He came to me… looked down at me while I was crying…"
Her voice turned cold.
"And said… 'If you want to kill me… become stronger.'"
A long silence followed.
"I tried…" Jenna whispered. "A hundred years ago… I gathered an army of vampires. I went to the Blackthorne mansion to take revenge."
Her expression darkened.
"But Kael wasn't there."
Caroline looked at her.
"Maekal was."
The room felt heavy.
"It was raining that night," Jenna continued. "I told him everything… what Kael did… what he took from me…" Her voice trembled. "Do you know what he said?"
She looked at Caroline.
"'I understand how you feel… but I won't let you kill my brother.'"
Silence.
"I begged him…"
Her eyes filled with pain.
"He didn't listen."
A pause.
"So I attacked him."
Her voice dropped.
"That… was my biggest mistake."
She clenched her fists.
"One hundred vampires…"
Her voice turned hollow.
"He killed them all."
Caroline's eyes widened in shock and fear.
"It sounds unreal, doesn't it?" Jenna said quietly. "But it's the truth."
Caroline hesitated. "But… he's weaker than you… right?"
Jenna slowly shook her head. "You don't understand. When Maekal drinks human blood… he becomes far more dangerous than Kael."
Silence filled the air.
"After killing all of them… he warned me never to try again."
Jenna took a deep breath.
"But this time… I've been waiting."
Her eyes burned with determination.
"I acted like I forgot everything… like I moved on."
A pause.
"And now… Maekal has stopped drinking human blood."
Her voice turned cold.
"This is my chance."
Caroline couldn't speak.
Jenna looked at her softly now. "If anything happens to me… don't try to take revenge."
Her voice softened.
"I want you to live a happy life… even if I die."
Caroline's tears fell uncontrollably. "How can I live without you…?"
Jenna smiled gently, wiping her tears. "You can. You don't age… travel the world… live freely… be happy."
Her voice dropped.
"Just don't take revenge."
Caroline wanted to speak… but no words came out.
Jenna stepped back.
"I have something to do."
And then—
She left.
Caroline collapsed, crying.
Three days passed… like a blink.
And finally—
The day of revenge arrived.
Would Jenna get her revenge…
Or would Kael kill her instead?
Will Maekel help his brother?
And what will happen when Evelyn learns the truth about them?
After knowing the truth… will she still love Maekel… or will her love turn into hatred?
