Chapter 189 - Chapter 189: The Kazekage's Final Gamble (Bonus Chapter)

Chapter 189: The Kazekage's Final Gamble

"Surrender, or die."

Ragnar's voice carried across the devastated battlefield, reaching the ears of every surviving shinobi. It was not loud. It did not need to be. The words themselves carried weight—the weight of absolute, undeniable truth.

Every heart trembled.

The choice should have been simple. Death or surrender. Life or oblivion. And yet—

Surrender meant admitting defeat. Meant acknowledging that in this Second Shinobi World War, Konoha stood victorious while Suna and Iwa knelt in the mud. Meant carrying the shame of this moment for the rest of their lives.

The Suna ninja exchanged uncertain glances. Their faces were masks of conflict—fear warring with pride, survival instinct battling the warrior's code.

Then the Third Kazekage moved.

He rose into the air on a platform of sand iron, positioning himself at eye level with the golden Buddha. His expression was defiant, almost arrogant—a mask of confidence that belied the terror in his heart.

"Rakshasa!" His voice rang out across the silent field. "Do not push us too far!"

Ragnar regarded him with the same calm, patient expression. Saying nothing.

"I do not believe you can still wield those white flames!" the Kazekage continued, his voice growing stronger as he fed on his own words. "And have you forgotten? My Magnet Release commands all iron! With a thought, I could shatter this golden body of yours and turn it against you!"

Behind him, the Suna ninja stirred. Hope flickered in their despairing eyes.

"Lord Kazekage!"

"He's right! Rakshasa must be running low on chakra!"

"That golden giant—it must contain iron! Lord Kazekage can control it!"

The Third Kazekage's confidence swelled. He drew himself up, the picture of a Kage facing down a god.

"Rakshasa! I propose a truce! Sunagakure and Konoha cease hostilities! We withdraw from this battlefield—" He paused, letting the words hang. "In exchange, we take the western territories of the Land of Rain. The lands bordering the Wind Country. You will not interfere."

Ragnar's expression did not change.

"A truce," he repeated. "You want to negotiate."

"I am a Kage of a Great Nation!" the Third Kazekage declared. "I offer terms of peace! Surely even you can see the wisdom in—"

"No."

The word was soft. Final.

The Kazekage's confident mask cracked. "What?"

"You want more than a truce," Ragnar said. "You want victory snatched from the jaws of defeat. You want to walk away from this battlefield with something to show for the lives you've lost." His golden eyes held no judgment, only observation. "I am not interested in your politics or your land grabs."

The Third Kazekage's face darkened. "Then you refuse peace? You would continue this slaughter?"

"I offered peace," Ragnar reminded him. "Surrender. Withdraw completely. Those were the terms."

"THAT IS NOT PEACE! THAT IS HUMILIATION!"

The Kazekage's composure shattered completely. His voice rose to a roar that echoed across the battlefield, heard by every ninja present.

"Rakshasa! You stand there in your golden shell, playing at god, but I see through you! Your chakra is not infinite! This form drains you with every passing moment! And this 'Buddha' of yours—" His lips curled into a savage smile. "It is made of metal. And where there is metal, there is IRON. And where there is iron, I AM MASTER!"

The Suna ninja erupted in cheers.

"Lord Kazekage is right!"

"He's found the weakness!"

"Rakshasa is not invincible!"

Ragnar looked at the exultant Kazekage with something almost like pity.

"You believe," he said slowly, "that you can extract iron from my golden body using Magnet Release?"

"Of course!" The Third Kazekage's confidence was absolute now. "No metal is pure! Even this 'Buddha' of yours must contain iron impurities! And once I control that iron, I control your form! The tables will turn, Rakshasa! Today, Sunagakure will be victorious!"

The Buddha's golden face—Ragnar's face—shifted. The faintest suggestion of a smile.

"Then try."

The Kazekage did not hesitate.

His arms shot forward, palms glowing with azure chakra. Magnet Release activated at full power, reaching out, seeking—

Where is it?

He pushed harder. Sweat beaded on his forehead. His chakra flared.

WHERE IS THE IRON?

Nothing. Not a trace. Not a single particle.

The golden Buddha before him was—impossible as it seemed—pure. No iron. No impurities. Nothing for his bloodline limit to grasp.

"No," he whispered. "No, that's impossible. There must be—"

"There is not."

Ragnar's voice was gentle. Almost kind.

"Your Magnet Release controls iron, Kazekage. Not metal. Iron. And this form—" The golden Buddha shifted, one massive hand beginning to rise. "—is not iron. It is not even metal, in the sense you understand. It is something else entirely."

The Third Kazekage stared, frozen, as the hand—seven or eight meters wide, gleaming with divine light—swung toward him like a mountain falling.

"Your reality," Ragnar said, "was always too small."

The hand descended.
