As his body, frozen stiff like a block of ice, thawed with the hot energy flowing into him, the words he heard made Dimitri tense up again. He knew who the person whispering these words into his ear was, he had both seen and heard what he did with his own eyes, but how could this be? Was it possible to kill a General?
"Chief Alyon, while there is time, take the Master and his apprentice with you and leave the castle through the secret passage."
Someone right beside him was telling him he would kill the general, but the Head of the Balsici Family, Dimitri, refused to believe this and urged them to escape. In the face of what he heard, Alyon's face soured, his eyes searched for his son, and only after seeing him slowly nod his head downwards did he take a deep breath and calm down.
"Master Leonardo, if we keep General Alina out of the equation, is it possible for us to destroy the enemy army within fifteen minutes?"
The short man, after looking around once more through the gap created by the shape of the walls, thought for a while and gave his answer within ten seconds.
"In exactly twelve minutes, all of them will be reduced to ashes!"
Bookworm didn't want to break his calm demeanor, but he couldn't prevent his lips from spreading into a smile after the news he received. He was sure the enemy army was right at the foot of the walls with all its members, and if they took action now, even if they revealed their identities, there would be no one left to inform others of this.
His father was ready since yesterday. The massive orc, stepping away from Dimitri and pulling back a few meters, was waiting for the signal that would come from his son to take action, and Bookworm put an end to his wait by clenching his right hand into a fist.
When the new weapon he recently acquired appeared in his right hand, Alyon, taking a step to the left and aligning himself with General Alina, started running. The width of the walls was only about five paces, but this distance was enough for him to hurl his javelin. Before a breath had passed, the javelin made contact with the shield, and in the next breath, it would crash into the enemy trying to stand against the attack by bringing her spear in front of her body.
While the woman, who could use electrical energy by storing it in her equipment, represented the top level in speed and attack power, her defense wasn't as good. Using her weakness caused by the power of the element she had an affinity for, Alyon had pushed her away from the walls for two seconds, but the silver spear was coming again.
"You finally showed your teeth, orcs!"
When General Alina arrived at the level of the walls with the help of her wings, her eyes opened wide; another one of the javelins that caused her to be tossed back even though she had taken a defensive stance just a moment ago was coming. She didn't have time to dodge; even though electrical energy allowed her to move fast, this was possible when it came to a straight path. Amidst all those attacks, she hadn't managed to hide her weakness that careful eyes saw, perhaps she had no intention of hiding it from the beginning, but she was paying the price of her arrogance by being pushed away from the walls.
She attacked, the javelins prevented her from approaching; this cycle continued until the tenth javelin left Alyon's hand, but the elapsed time was only twenty seconds. If he wanted to buy time to fire the new generation weapons, he had to spend at least three hundred and fifty javelins, and seeing the impossibility of this, General Alina was attacking relentlessly.
"Leonardo get ready, I will take the enemy away shortly!"
Hurling his last javelin, Alyon didn't stop this time and, continuing his steps, flew out through the transparent barrier. The enemy taking the blow expected to encounter a javelin once more, but this time she faced an orc warrior's axe along with his massive build.
When the collision occurred, a magnificent visual feast took place; following the sparkle that rivaled the fireworks displays held on New Year's Eve, a black column of light rose into the air from where the duo rapidly fell to the ground.
"Chief's Wrath!"
If anyone was near Alyon and General Alina, they dropped to their knees, and blood started leaking from the orifices in their bodies. The lineage powers of the orcs strengthened in direct proportion to the person using them, and Alyon was no longer the inexperienced youth from the first times he used this. The ability, which used to only suppress the enemy's strength, had now become deadly for those who didn't have sufficient might.
When General Alina sprang back and stood up, she sensed something was strange, for despite her armor focusing on electrical energy with every part of it, she didn't have her former speed. The pressure on her hadn't affected her to a lethal degree like the other soldiers perhaps, but it was obvious this was the doing of the new opponent appearing before her.
"I'll remember this ability from somewhere, but let's see if you can live until then?"
Even if one of her important weapons lost power, General Alina wasn't compromising on her arrogance; she was cold, insolent, and selfish. The target of three electrical attacks, breaking off from her spear and advancing with snake-like lithe movements, was Alyon; the enemy had decided to pull her long-range attacks out of her pocket.
At the same time, Alyon took out a javelin, thought to be finished, from his ring and hurled it; his attack advanced straight as an arrow, like a line extending to infinity. The two attacks passed through each other almost at the same time and found their targets two breaths later.
While General Alina, suffering a loss in her speed, met the long, thin metal piece with the shaft of her spear, Alyon let his axe embed itself into the ground after swinging it from top to bottom. As a result, while one side had to retreat paces back, the veins on the arms of the other gripping his weapon were twitching.
"You are too smart for an orc. Instead of parrying my attack, you directed it to the earth, but let's see how long you can keep this up!"
When General Alina finished her words, colorful energy attacks rising with a huge noise from the walls she hadn't looked at for a while started to discharge. The new generation weapons were showing their difference; the firepower of ten of them lined up side by side was enough to besiege the sky hosting the battlefield in seconds.
Death was raining down on the army that had charged down to its last member, but General Alina, clad head to toe in silver armor, didn't care. The five commanders appearing behind her were just watching what happened until they flinched with the order that would come from her.
"The energy shield is gone, what are you waiting for? Direct all attacks onto the walls, I don't want to deal with that stupid shield again when I'm done here!"
Some of the group, which included frontline commander Nikolay, took action to organize the soldiers, while others decided to launch an attack toward the walls on their own using the advantage of their equipment and affinities.
Nikolay, showing up in his fur armor, was in the second group. With quick steps, he walked around Alyon because he knew there was a power there that affected even his superior. When two cannonballs connected to each other by a short chain appeared in his hand, he was only fifty paces away from the target they had been lying at the door of for months. The walls were within range for his weapons glowing with fire-red energy, and if he scored a direct hit, he could kill dozens, maybe hundreds of Balsici Family soldiers in a single shot.
He wanted to take one more step closer to be sure, this way the chance of error would drop to almost zero, but there was something the frontline commander couldn't possibly account for. A huge surprise awaited his fellow commanders sharing the same thought as him and his soldiers who dared to come right up to the foot of the walls the moment they received the attack order.
"Gold mine!"
No one had heard the two words escaping Bookworm's lips as he watched the battle, even those closest to him could only assume he was muttering to himself at most, but the Golden Leaf Guild soldiers within the fifty-pace area of the walls could hear the sounds coming from under their feet perfectly clearly.
