Fullbring, also known as [Power of the Heart].
Human fetuses possessing fragments of the Soul King emit an alluring, unique Spiritual Pressure from their souls, causing their mothers to be targeted and attacked by Hollows.
Consequently, the Hollow's power invades the pregnant mother's body, subsequently merging and resonating with the fetus.
This gives rise to what are known as Fullbringers.
From mountains, rivers, and vegetation down to tables, chairs, and benches, souls exist within all things.
Fullbringers can extract the souls dwelling within these physical objects and use the unique power within their own souls to resonate with them, causing the objects to react and change according to their will.
For example, drawing out the soul of asphalt can provide a reactive assistive force, allowing a Fullbringer to jump higher.
Drawing out the soul of a liquid allows it to follow the user's intent and leap directly into their mouth.
When a Fullbringer finds the object most suited to their [Heart], discovering a special existence they can forge a bond with...
They can then awaken a Fullbring entirely unique to themselves.
However, once a Fullbringer truly awakens, they will also encounter real trouble.
The Tsunayashiro Family, one of the Five Noble Families of the Soul Reaper world.
As the ancient family in charge of the Soul Society's history and secrets, and even more so as one of the masterminds behind the plot against the Soul King, the Tsunayashiro Family has long known about the existence of Soul King fragments and Fullbringers.
To prevent the secrets of the Soul King from being known by more people, and especially to prevent these Fullbringers from acting out of control.
Since a thousand years ago, the Tsunayashiro Family has constantly monitored the situation of Fullbringers in the World of the Living, classifying Fullbring as a taboo.
Once discovered, they are immediately eradicated.
This is why, after so many years, Fullbring has seen almost no development, and the vast majority of Soul Reaper Captains remain completely ignorant of it.
The robed man had experienced this firsthand; if his Fullbring hadn't been so unique, he likely would have been decapitated long ago.
Therefore, when Kisuke Urahara appeared at his door bringing along Asuka, who was exuding an ominous aura, he was furious on the inside.
The Spiritual Pressure in Fuyuki City was currently a chaotic mess, clearly indicating that something was about to happen, yet Urahara had brought such a conspicuous Soul Reaper to his home.
Wasn't this just setting him up?
"That's exactly why I came to ask for your help," Urahara said, dropping his smile as he turned sideways to squeeze inside. "Your [Colorless] should still be usable, right?"
"Hey! I'm talking to you!" the robed man shouted, his hood falling back as he was shoved aside.
He was an old man with shriveled skin, looking almost like a living skeleton.
To have known Kisuke Urahara for so long, he had to be quite advanced in age.
"Oh my, don't be such a stranger! By the way, you look like you're in good spirits. You seem lively enough to live another ten years," Urahara chuckled.
"Hmph!"
The old man glared at Asuka, hurriedly pulled him inside, and immediately slammed the door shut.
"Let me state this upfront. Even if I only use a fraction of my Fullbring's authority, an equivalent price must be paid."
"Understood, understood. Aside from the standard compensation, I'll figure out a way to get you some Sekkiseki," Kisuke Urahara said, waving his hand dismissively.
The ability known as [Colorless] involved drawing out the soul from a rare ore capable of completely blocking Reishi and Spiritual Pressure—[Sekkiseki]—and infusing it into the caster's body.
The effects varied depending on the quality of the Sekkiseki used.
The most ideal outcome was to completely conceal a person's Spiritual Pressure signature, achieving the effect of rendering them non-existent within an opponent's Spiritual Sight.
Of course, the consumption required for such a feat would be staggeringly high.
The interior of the western-style mansion was incredibly spacious, the floor carved with densely packed, dark red runes that Asuka had never seen before.
"Stand in the center of the circle, young man," the robed old man instructed, pointing to a black floor tile in the middle of the hall. "I will attempt to lower your Spiritual Power, adjusting its frequency to a level completely identical to the background noise of the world."
Kisuke Urahara quickly chimed in, "Ah, there's no need to go that far. Just weakening it to around the thirteenth or fourteenth class will do."
But the robed old man merely glared at him, clearly displeased at being interrupted. "This process will be very painful."
Asuka did not hesitate, stepping onto the tile as instructed.
The old man walked up to him and drew a wooden staff inlaid with an amber gemstone from his sleeve. "Your existence shall be stripped away, and your past shall be obscured."
"If you lose your sense of self during this process, you might genuinely vanish from this world."
"Hold on tight."
He raised the wooden staff high, and the amber began to emit a dizzying, murky, and bizarre light.
"Begin," Asuka said, calmly closing his eyes.
"Then... in the name of [Colorless], I shall sever the anchor of your cause and effect."
Soul Society, Seireitei.
Compared to the surging undercurrents in Fuyuki City, the Tenth Division barracks appeared exceptionally lively today, even exuding a rare sense of festivity.
"Hurry up, hurry up! Clean this side thoroughly too!" a young squad member shouted, sweating profusely as he scrubbed the corridor.
"Today is a big day! We can't let the Tenth Division lose face in front of the new Captain!"
At the end of the corridor, a tall figure was striding forward.
He wore a brand-new Captain's haori, the ends of his black hair slightly upturned, and his face carried an innate sense of cheerfulness and unruliness.
The character [Ten] on his back sparkled brightly in the sunlight.
It was none other than Kaien Shiba, who had officially taken office as the Captain of the Tenth Division, succeeding the missing Isshin Shiba.
"Yo, everyone's working really hard!" Kaien laughed heartily, patting the squad member on the shoulder with such immense force that he nearly swatted the man onto the floor.
"Captain Shiba!"
The squad members immediately stood at attention and saluted, their eyes filled with reverence.
Although many of them were already very familiar with Kaien Shiba from his time as Vice Captain, he was now the new Captain succeeding their big brother Isshin, so they could no longer act so casually around him.
"Captain Kaien, please pay attention to your image. Your haori is crooked."
A cool, clear voice rang out from behind him.
Kaien turned his head and reached out to throw an arm around the other's neck. "I know, I know! Third Seat Shiro-chan!"
"Please don't act like Rangiku, Captain," Toshiro said, dodging Kaien's embrace and sighing helplessly. "Speaking of which, today isn't just the day you take office as Captain; it's also the departure day for the joint operation."
"Are you truly ready, Captain?" he asked, looking at the man with a hint of uncertainty.
"Haha, of course I am." At the mention of the mission, Kaien's expression grew noticeably more serious.
He took out the mission scroll issued by the First Division from his robes, locking his gaze onto the location named Fuyuki City.
"Recent abnormal Spiritual Pressure fluctuations in Fuyuki City, suspected to be irregular spiritual interference... Tsk, the old man's information is as ambiguous as ever." Kaien scratched his head helplessly and looked toward the space behind Toshiro.
"Sixth Seat Kocho, you've been there before, right? What do you think?"
Shinobu Kocho stepped forward gracefully, her butterfly hair ornament glinting in the sunlight like a living creature fluttering its wings.
"It is indeed somewhat unusual there. It would be best to exercise caution," she replied softly.
