Chapter 47 - THE POWER OF INFINITE LOVE

Did Ronan panic when Darken vanished into the rift with Liora? Not for a single second.

He could still feel the resonant tether of Liora's spirit burning brightly across space. Following that invisible pull, Ronan felt the power within his own body expanding exponentially with every heartbeat. Ethan had once remarked that for their absolute latent magic to manifest, one of them had to be in grave peril. Now, the true meaning behind those words was coming to light.

Surging forward at impossible speed, Ronan reappeared near the edge of a high stone platform. Darken stood at the precipice, gripping Liora forcefully by her hair. The positioning was deliberate: if Darken let go, Liora would plummet into the endless abyss below. Liora gasped, tears of agony brimming in her eyes from the violent strain on her scalp.

Yet, Ronan did not flinch. He did not scream. His sharp, fiery gaze remained locked onto Darken, cold, calculated, and absolute.

Gradually, the sharp pain in Liora's scalp began to fade. The overwhelming ambient energy radiating from Ronan was naturally soothing her senses, numbing her physical pain.

Darken offered a sinister, mocking grin. "Go ahead... beg me to let her go. Tell me to release her, and I will gladly oblige."

"Then let her go." Ronan replied, his voice calm and unbothered.

Darken's mocking expression faltered, replaced by a flick of utter confusion. From beneath Darken's grip, Liora looked up, a faint, bitter smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

"W-What are you waiting for?!" Liora suddenly yelled, her voice echoing across the platform. "L-Let go of me! Didn't you just say you'd drop me if he asked?! Let go!!"

Darken flinched at Liora's sudden outburst. Panic flashed across his green eyes as he looked between the defiant pregnant girl and the unnervingly composed Emperor.

Ronan's lips curved into a dark, knowing smirk.

In a fit of panicked rage, Darken violently shoved Liora off the ledge and vanished into the shadows. Liora squeezed her eyes shut as she fell into open air. She didn't scream, she trusted Ronan completely.

In that exact split second, Ronan extended his hand. A wave of soft, golden-purple energy caught Liora mid-air, cradling her heavy frame with extreme care and lowering her gently onto solid ground. Simultaneously, the power cleanly shattered the iron chains binding Liora's wrists and ankles.

Liora let out a breathless, relieved laugh.

The moment Liora's feet touched the stone, Darken materialized out of thin air, throwing a heavy blast of dark energy that sent Ronan crashing across the courtyard.

"Ron!!" Liora cried out.

Ronan pushed himself up instantly, unfazed. Without missing a beat, he engaged Darken in a duel.

The two powers collided violently. Powers clashed, tearing through the air as both fighters repeatedly vanished and reappeared across the crumbling courtyard in a blur of light and shadow.

Liora remained on the ground, holding her large belly and praying with all her heart for her husband's victory.

Though the combat was fierce at first, confusion and dread rapidly crept into Darken's mind. He had been convinced that the unborn child was the main power, the ultimate power that could destroy him. But now, he realized that wasn't true. The terrifying power overwhelming him was manifesting directly through Ronan, whose entire body was glowing with a fierce, blinding purple flame. The aura weakened Darken's dark magic with every passing second.

The guardians rushed into the courtyard, stopping in their tracks as they watched the battle unfold in awe.

"Darken!! Did you truly believe you could escape me after hurting my angel and my child?!" Ronan roared, unleashing continuous blasts of violet energy. "Those two are my life!! My world!! My everything!! You touched the wrong family!!"

With a final, catastrophic surge of power, Ronan delivered a decisive strike directly to Darken's chest. Darken let out a bloodcurdling shriek as he collapsed onto the stone floor, his body going completely motionless.

A heavy silence descended over the battlefield. Ronan stood over Darken's still form, his chest heaving as he panted heavily. The radiant purple light surrounding him slowly faded away.

Behind the guardians, tears of overwhelmed joy spilled from their eyes as they embraced each other.

"R-Ron...?"

A soft, shaky voice broke through the quiet.

Ronan froze. A choked gasp escaped his lips, and he lowered his head as tears flooded his eyes. Slowly, agonizingly, he turned around to face Liora, who was staring back at him through a veil of tears.

Ronan couldn't move. He desperately wanted to sprint across the distance and fold his wife into his arms, but his knees felt completely locked to the earth.

He sank directly to his knees right there in the dirt, breaking down into uncontrollable sobs.

"AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHH!!"

Ronan let out a raw, echoing scream, releasing months of suppressed grief, despair, relief, and love. The overwhelming comfort of knowing his family was finally safe rushed through his veins all at once.

He looked up at Liora, who was waiting for his touch just a few yards away. He had won. He had defeated the evil that had torn them apart, and he was finally able to protect his angel and their unborn prince.

"R-Rony... p-please come to me." Liora sobbed softly, her own voice breaking.

Forcing his trembling legs to move, Ronan scrambled forward on his knees, pulling Liora into his space. His shaky hands reached out, gently cupping Liora's pale face.

Feeling the long-awaited touch of his husband's palm, Liora closed her eyes tightly, leaning her weight fully into Ronan's hands.

Ronan's tear-filled eyes scanned every inch of Liora's tired face before traveling down to her massive, eight-month bump. Holding the swollen belly with both hands, Ronan caressed the curve with tender reverence. His sobs grew louder as he felt a firm, energetic kick hit his palm, their little prince greeting his father.

In the next instant, Ronan pulled Liora into a desperate, tight embrace, weeping continuously against his neck.

"T-Thank you, my love... Thank you for being so brave... Thank you for surviving... Thank you for protecting our prince all by yourself." Ronan choked out between tears.

Liora wept softly against Ronan's shoulder, yielding to the familiar warmth she had missed for agonizing months. She felt infinitely safe in Ronan's arms. She clutched Ronan's shirt tightly in her fists, silently swearing never to let him go again.

Suddenly, both of them fell silent.

At that exact moment, their eyes and the matching diamond crests on their foreheads flared with a brilliant purple light, illuminating the entire ruined courtyard in a warm, radiant glow.

The guardians perform a unified step back, brow furrowing in confusion.

Behind them, Darken was dragging himself up off the ground. He wasn't dead. Gathering the last remnants of his dark energy, he prepared a final, desperate attack to strike them down from behind, driven by pure, insatiable greed for power.

Ronan and Liora turned their heads in unison, their sharp, purple-glowing eyes locking onto the dark lord.

"You really have no shame, do you, Darken?" Ronan spoke softly, his voice echoing with absolute authority.

"I will have the main power!" Darken wheezed out, his face twisted in madness. "I will take it no matter what!!"

Both Ronan and Liora offered a small, synchronized smile.

"You never could." Ronan said softly, looking down at his wife.

Liora nodded, resting her palm over her bump alongside Ronan's. "Be strong for Mommy and Daddy, okay, sweet baby?" Liora whispered, closing her eyes to channel her energy.

A beam of golden-purple light erupted from Liora's hand, striking Darken straight in the chest and forcing a scream of agony from his throat.

Simultaneously, Ronan channeled his own purple fire, merging his blast directly with Liora's. With one hand directing the combined beam, Ronan kept his other hand firmly wrapped over Liora's hand on their baby.

The four guardians watched the magnificent display in utter awe.

"You still don't understand what the main power actually is, do you, Darken?" Ronan called out over the sound of crackling energy. "The main power isn't a weapon. It isn't the union of our magic, nor is it just our child. The main power is pure, infinite love. It is the strongest, most unyielding power in this universe, and there is nothing in existence that true love cannot overcome."

Darken writhed within the burning violet beam. "NO!! Love is a weak, useless concept!! Something like that cannot be absolute!! G-GIVE ME THE REAL POWER!! AAAAAAAAH!!"

That was Darken's final scream.

As Ronan and Liora amplified their combined magic, Darken's dark form turned a sickening shade of green before shattering into millions of harmless particles, completely erasing his existence from the universe.

Together, through the bond of their love, they had saved the realm and secured peace for their world.

As the blinding light faded, Ronan and Liora collapsed back into a tight embrace, breathing heavily.

"W-We did it, my love... We did it." Ronan murmured, burying his face in Liora's hair and pulling her closer.

Liora could only hold onto Ronan's shoulders, crying tears of relief.

"Shh... my sweet angel... it's over." Ronan cooed softly, stroking Liora's hair with tender care. "We won. You don't have to cry anymore, my love. You've cried enough for a lifetime."

A few feet away, the guardians watched the couple with emotional smiles.

"So that's what the main power was all along..." Maya murmured softly, tears glistening on her cheeks. "It was their love."

Ethan placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, nodding. "Just as the ancient texts implied... for the power to manifest, one of them had to be in extreme peril. Because neither of them can bear to see the other suffer. The more powers tried to tear them apart, the stronger their love became. That is how the absolute power was born."

"I have never witnessed a bond like theirs." Sophia whispered, wiping a tear as Michael wrapped a warm arm around her waist, pulling her close.

"No power in any realm could ever break them apart." Michael agreed quietly.

Ronan gently pulled back, cupping Liora's face and pressing a sweet, lingering kiss onto her forehead.

"Let's go home, angel." Ronan whispered softly. "No one will ever harm us again. Our little prince is going to be born into a safe, peaceful world."

Liora offered a soft, radiant smile, nodding, before her expression suddenly shifted to panic.

"B-Ben?! Where is Ben?! Where is Benny?!"

Ronan blinked in confusion. "Who, baby?"

"The little boy I saved in the cells!" Liora explained frantically, tears threating to fall again. "I need to find him, Rony!"

"Okay, okay, calm down, sweetie. We'll search for him right now-"

"Mommy!!"

A tiny, familiar voice called out across the yard. Liora's head snapped around to see little Benny running toward her as fast as his small legs could carry him.

A joyful laugh escaped Liora as the boy threw his small arms around her neck. Liora kissed Benny's forehead repeatedly before looking up at Ronan with hopeful eyes. Ronan smiled, nodding in silent agreement, he already understood what Liora wanted.

Behind Benny walked Richard, who was gently holding Lily by the hand. Liora let out a deep breath of relief, seeing that everyone had made it out safely.

"Let's get you home, baby." Ronan said gently, helping Liora up from the ground. He then reached down, picking little Benny up into his arm and pressing a affectionate kiss onto the toddler's cheek.

Benny looked at Ronan with wide, curious eyes. "Who are you?"

Ronan chuckled softly. "Ben, he is-"

"I'm your daddy, baby." Ronan interrupted gently, finishing Liora's sentence with a proud smile.

Benny clapped his small hands happily, throwing his arms around Ronan's neck. Ronan let out a light laugh, pressing another kiss to the boy's cheek.

"So, you made me a dad earlier than I expected." Ronan teased softly, looking at Liora.

Liora flushed slightly, offering a shy, beautiful smile. "He's a sweet boy."

"He really is." Ronan agreed warmly.

Keeping Benny secure in one arm, Ronan wrapped his other arm firmly around Liora's waist, pulling her close and pressing another soft kiss onto her forehead. "Ready?"

Liora leaned her weight comfortably against Ronan's side. "Ready."

The guardians had already channeled their energy to open the dimensional gateway leading straight back to the Mo Kingdom.

As they walked toward the portal, Liora suddenly paused, turning her head to look back at the ruined quarry in the distance.

Ronan stopped beside her. "What's wrong, my angel?"

"Rony... what about the other people locked in the cells...?"

Ronan smiled tenderly, leaning in to kiss her forehead. "I'll have my commanders return and liberate every single prisoner today, baby. Always worrying about others, aren't you?"

With a peaceful smile, Liora held onto Ronan as they stepped into the shimmering gateway, followed by Maya, Ethan, Sophia, and Michael.

At the rear of the group, Richard noticed Lily shivering slightly in the cool breeze.

"Oh... are you cold? Here, take this." Richard said quickly, unbuttoning his heavy outer coat and placing it over Lily's shoulders.

Lily's cheeks flushed a bright crimson. "O-Oh... thank you." She looked up at the taller man. "What is your name?"

"I am Richard." Richard replied, offering a warm, dimpled smile.

"Ah, nice to meet you. I am most beautiful woman in the world doctor Lily." Lily declared, extending her hand with dramatic flair.

Richard blinked, stunned for a second. "W-What?"

"What?" Lily repeated, raising an eyebrow.

"That... is certainly a unique name." Richard stammered, his own cheeks turning red. "B-But it suits you."

Lily burst out laughing.

"Are you two going to stand there flirting all day, or are you coming through?!" Sophia's amused voice called back through the portal.

Lily immediately grabbed Richard's hand, pulling him forward. "We're coming!"

Richard stared down at their joined hands in pleasant surprise as they stepped through the threshold together, leaving the dark realm behind forever.
