Chapter 116 - The Web of Deceit and the Crash Landing

To understand why Usopp claimed Nami was dead, we must go back to when he and Nami were taken to the cave where the giant Brogy lived.

The two of them, who had been pretending to be unconscious, were terrified to find the cave piled high with human skulls. While Brogy had his back turned, roasting dinosaur meat, Nami and Usopp quietly slipped away.

Unfortunately, after fleeing into the forest, they ran into a giant saber-toothed tiger. They ran for their lives, only to then run into a Tyrannosaurus Rex. So, Nami, Usopp, and the saber-toothed tiger that had wanted to eat them were all chased through the forest by the T-Rex.

Just as they were about to collapse from exhaustion and were on the verge of being caught, they saw a pair of enormous feet appear ahead of them. The T-Rex, upon seeing the giant Brogy appear and lick his lips, immediately turned tail and fled.

At that moment, Nami and Usopp realized a grim truth: whether they were eaten by a saber-tooth or a T-Rex, according to the rules of the food chain, they would still end up inside the giant's stomach. Since escape seemed futile, Usopp and Nami accepted their fate and stopped resisting, letting Brogy take them back to his cave.

Though Brogy enthusiastically offered them roasted dinosaur meat, Nami and Usopp steadfastly refused. They were both convinced the giant wanted to fatten them up before eating them. Sitting to the side, tears streaming down their faces, they whispered mournfully about their impending doom. One lamented their youth and not wanting to die; the other suggested perhaps their youth made them especially tasty, which was why the giant had picked them.

In short, to avoid being eaten by Brogy, Nami and Usopp decided to go on a hunger strike. They naively believed that if they didn't get nice and plump, the giant wouldn't eat them.

Nami asked Brogy how long it took for a Log Pose to record the island's magnetic field, hoping she and Usopp could slip away once it was done. Brogy told her that normally, it took a full year for a Log Pose to record Little Garden.

Hearing this, Nami and Usopp collapsed in despair. They couldn't possibly starve themselves for a year. Their plan was shattered. With hope of escape gone, Usopp and Nami threw caution to the wind and started eating the delicious-smelling roasted meat without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Luffy hit it off quite well with the other giant, Dorry, after being invited back to his place. Dorry treated Luffy to roasted dinosaur, and Luffy shared his pirate bento with Dorry. Dorry said the bento was tasty but far too small a portion—Sanji had made it extra large for Luffy, but it was still a mere morsel for a giant. Luffy bluntly told Dorry that if he dared say Sanji's cooking was bad, he'd punch him. Instead of getting angry, Dorry just chuckled heartily, saying Luffy was interesting.

From Dorry, Luffy learned that somewhere on the Grand Line, there was a warrior village named Elbaf. The village had a rule: when villagers had a dispute and neither would yield, they would accept the judgment of the God of Elbaf and settle it with a duel. The god would grant victory to the righteous side. Thus, the island called Little Garden had become the arena for the duel between Dorry and Brogy. The two had been fighting on this island for one hundred years, with no victor yet.

Even Luffy, thick-skulled as he was, was shocked to hear they'd been dueling for a century. The lifespan of a giant is three times that of an ordinary human, so a century-long stalemate wasn't strange to them. Whenever the island's volcano erupted, it was time for them to duel. The volcano on Little Garden erupted multiple times a day, so Dorry and Brogy fought several times daily, without fail, for a hundred years.

When Tom and Vivi witnessed Dorry and Brogy fighting, it was already the giants' second duel of the day.

After seeing the distant volcano erupt, Brogy stopped entertaining Usopp and Nami and headed to the usual dueling grounds. Dorry bid Luffy farewell and did the same. A hundred years of wind and rain, of scorching heat and bitter cold, of changing seasons—they had long forgotten the original reason for their duel. But the dueling grounds themselves seemed unchanged: the same jungle, though the surrounding land was pockmarked with the scars of their battles, many of them fresh.

Nami wanted to sneak away while the two giants were fighting, but Usopp refused to move. He gazed up at the dueling giants with a look of longing, completely entranced.

Brogy swung his axe down at Dorry's head with mountain-splitting force as Dorry lay on the ground. But Dorry rose and, instead of dodging, met the attack head-on, slamming his forehead into the descending axe.

Usopp watched, amazed, as Dorry's headbutt actually shattered the axe blade. He knew that if Dorry's aim had been off by even a little, even a giant would have been split in two by another giant's axe strike. They attacked each other's vitals mercilessly, in a duel akin to mutual slaughter that had lasted a century! Only those with exceptionally firm resolve could endure such a brutal, life-and-death struggle against an equally matched opponent day after day for a hundred years. An ordinary person would have gone mad long ago.

It was because Dorry and Brogy both firmly believed that the God of Elbaf they worshipped watched over them that they could fight for a hundred years without reason or cause. To be under the God of Elbaf's protection and become the victor of the duel was the supreme honor of a warrior from Elbaf's warrior village. To protect that honor, which they could not abandon, Dorry and Brogy remained on Little Garden, far from home, fighting for a century. Though they yearned for their homeland, they would not return until a victor was decided. They carried the banner of "warrior" in their hearts—something more important to them than their own lives.

Usopp understood this clearly. It was to prevent the banner in their hearts from being destroyed that Dorry and Brogy had fought each other fairly all these years. This duel was one of shared conviction, not merely a contest of strength. It was for the sake of that unyielding perseverance in their hearts. They would rather die than yield an inch, for this was a duel of honor between warriors.

After listening to Usopp's lengthy explanation and seeing the look of admiration on his face as he watched the giants, Nami called for him to flee. He didn't listen, instead saying with deep yearning, "That's it! The brave warrior of the sea I want to become... it's to be like them! I want to become a man who carries honor in his heart too!"

Seeing Usopp adamantly refusing to leave and speaking so passionately, Nami fell silent for a moment. She sat back down, propping her chin on her hand, sighed in realization, and said, "Oh, so you want to become a giant."

Usopp immediately freaked out, thinking Nami hadn't understood a word he'd said. He added that he really wanted to visit the giants' homeland, Elbaf.

While Nami and Usopp were talking, the first battle between Dorry and Brogy that day ended in a draw. After knocking each other down, their 73,466th battle concluded without a clear winner. Brogy told Dorry someone had given him some liquor. Dorry, not one to stand on ceremony, laughed heartily and asked Brogy to share, as he hadn't had a drink in ages. So, when Dorry returned to his place, he brought some liquor back with him.

As he drank and chatted with Luffy, Dorry mentioned he'd seen a long-nosed man and a woman over at Brogy's place. Learning that Usopp and Nami had also landed on the island, Luffy remarked that those two really were adventure-lovers, despite their earlier protests about leaving the ship.

From Dorry, Luffy learned that many humans who came to the island in the past died from disease or hunger, or were killed attacking the giants. Most who landed here perished, which explained the many human bones nearby. For ordinary people, surviving on this island was incredibly difficult.

It's worth noting that when Usopp told Brogy he wanted to become a brave warrior of the sea like him, Brogy misunderstood and thought Usopp literally wanted to become a giant, which made Nami snicker, giving Usopp a look that said, "See, I wasn't wrong."

"I want to live with honor in my heart, like the warriors of Elbaf!" Usopp declared earnestly, pounding his fist against his chest.

Brogy told Usopp that since a giant's lifespan was far longer than a human's, treasures and even life itself would one day vanish without a trace. But for a warrior of Elbaf, to die with honor was the so-called "glorious death." That honor was a treasure that would be passed down forever in Elbaf.

Honor is the treasure. Usopp committed Brogy's words deeply to memory.

Back with Luffy and Dorry, their cheerful conversation was suddenly interrupted when Dorry's stomach violently exploded, seriously injuring him. He coughed up blood uncontrollably. Clearly, the explosion had occurred after he drank the liquor.

The liquor had been a gift from Brogy, but Dorry also knew Brogy had gotten it from Nami and Usopp, who were Luffy's companions. Dorry therefore logically assumed Luffy and his crew were behind the treachery. A century ago, both he and Brogy had bounties of 100,000,000 Berries from the World Government. In the past, people had targeted their heads and attacked them recklessly.

Even though he'd been ambushed, Dorry never suspected Brogy. He knew Brogy had fought on this island for a hundred years; Brogy would never do such a pointless thing.

Luffy believed this too. Seeing Dorry's stomach explode shortly after drinking, it never crossed his mind that Brogy could be responsible.

"This... couldn't be Brogy's doing. Because he, like me, is a warrior of Elbaf with the highest honor. Besides you people, who else would resort to such underhanded tricks?!" Dorry's face darkened as he stood up, blood still trickling from his mouth.

Hearing Dorry's words, Luffy's face grew equally stern. Facing the giant, dozens of meters taller and radiating killing intent, Luffy showed not a hint of fear. Instead, he spoke with absolute seriousness, "My crewmates would never do such a thing!"

Though vastly outsized, Luffy knew the enraged Dorry wouldn't listen to explanations now. Any defense was pointless. He cracked his knuckles. "Sorry, old man. I'm gonna have to make you be quiet for a bit!"

And so, Luffy fought the giant Dorry. Because of his injury, Dorry didn't last long before taking a direct hit from Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Rocket, his massive body swaying dangerously. But Dorry wasn't just taking hits. After enduring Luffy's attack, when Luffy landed, Dorry stomped down hard on him, crushing him into the ground. Luckily, Luffy was made of rubber and had incredible durability. An ordinary person would have been flattened.

Dorry's injuries were severe, and Luffy's powerful blow was the final straw. He collapsed, unable to get up for a while. If Luffy hadn't done this, the gravely injured Dorry would have refused to rest. Luffy was also furious that someone was using such cowardly methods behind the scenes. He knew others were on the island.

Later, when Tom and Vivi were heading toward the Going Merry, the volcano erupted again. Dorry, ignoring Luffy's pleas, insisted on going to duel Brogy despite his injuries. To Dorry, their fight had begun a century ago. If he avoided it now, he would be running from the title of "warrior," meaning he had abandoned the honor in his heart—something he would rather die than do.

As Dorry said, if he were no longer a warrior, he would feel he was no longer himself. Everything he had held onto would become meaningless.

After fighting Luffy, Dorry also understood that the person who planted the bomb in the liquor truly had nothing to do with Luffy's crew. Otherwise, when he had fallen earlier, Luffy had countless opportunities to take his head.

Before leaving to duel Brogy, Dorry sincerely apologized to Luffy for suspecting them. He knew that in his injured state, he was no match for Brogy, but he still went to fight.

To prevent Luffy from interfering, Dorry used a boulder the size of a small hill to pin Luffy down, then took up his greatsword and went to duel Brogy without hesitation.

"This is the judgment of the God of Elbaf. The god no longer watches over me. That's all there is to it," Dorry said, his tone carrying a hint of bleakness and resignation. He was no longer troubled by the ambush. His only duty now was to fight Brogy with all his might.

"That has nothing to do with whether a god watches over you!" Luffy yelled from under the boulder at the departing giant. "If a god told you to die, would you just go and die?! Your duel has been interfered with! A duel that's been interfered with isn't a duel at all!"

"Quiet! You're just brats who've lived ten, twenty years! How could you possibly understand the sublime words of Elbaf?!" Those were Dorry's last words to Luffy before leaving for the duel.

"Brogy, it's been a long time since we had a drink. Tasted good, didn't it?"

"Sure did. That liquor tasted like the nectar of the gods."

Brogy and Dorry exchanged a few simple words before their second duel began.

Seeing them fight again, Usopp couldn't help but stop and watch, mesmerized by the giants' figures.

"I can't believe such a pointless fight could last so long," Nami said, her reaction the complete opposite of Usopp's as she looked at the dueling giants.

Usopp was indignant. "Shut up! Don't say things like that! What do you mean, 'pointless fight'?!"

Ignoring him, Nami wanted to return to the ship. The Log Pose taking a year to record was absurd. She told Usopp to go back to the ship and wait for everyone to return so they could figure something out together.

"Wait!" Usopp hurriedly stopped her, stating with surprising pride, "I can't handle dinosaurs. So, getting through the jungle back to the ship is impossible."

"I thought you just said you wanted to be a brave warrior of the sea?" Nami looked at him, sweatdropping. He stated such an embarrassing fact with such conviction.

"That's a matter of the spirit! I want to become a man who can take pride in his way of life!" Usopp answered honestly. He truly meant it, admitting his fear of dinosaurs to a woman without a shred of shame.

Seeing Usopp was serious, Nami changed plans. They'd look for Luffy instead, since he wasn't far. She also wanted to ask Luffy where that idiot Tom had disappeared to.

"Even if one day I lose everything and face death alone on a deserted island, in that moment, I'll be proud of my life and say as I die..." Usopp stroked his chin, head held high, with confidence and longing. "'I am the brave warrior of the sea, Usopp!'"

"Alright, alright, I get it," Nami said, turning to walk into the jungle. "But could you hurry up and become a reliable warrior?"

"Wait for me!" Usopp quickly caught up. "That's for the future. Right now, I'm just a man who wants to become a warrior."

No sooner had he said this than a Tyrannosaurus Rex appeared ahead. Usopp immediately screamed and ran for his life.

After finally shaking off the T-Rex, Usopp realized Nami, who had been with him, was gone! When he tried to go back and find her, he ran into several large saber-toothed tigers. Chased and running blindly, he eventually stumbled upon Tom and Vivi and told them Nami was dead, shocking Tom speechless.

After Tom dealt with the saber-tooths chasing Usopp and heard Nami had been eaten by a dinosaur, he was stunned. "A dinosaur dared to eat such a terrifying woman? What was it thinking?"

Just what does this guy think Nami is? Vivi glanced at Tom, about to speak, when he suddenly took off running, calling back over his shoulder, "You and Usopp go find Luffy! Tell him this island has a few... minor complications!"

"What's he doing? How can he be so careless about Nami's life?!" Usopp exclaimed, shocked that Tom had vanished after just a few words.

"No, I think it's because he's so worried about her that he's acting like this," Vivi guessed. Since Tom had already encountered Mr. 3 and the others, it wasn't strange for him to suspect Baroque Works had captured Nami. That's why he rushed off.

"What did he mean by 'minor complications'? Never mind, forget him. I'm glad you're here. Let's go find Luffy quickly. You'll be okay if we run into dinosaurs, right?" Usopp said, relieved he wouldn't have to traverse the jungle alone.

Vivi wanted to tell Usopp their pursuers were on the island, but decided to wait until they found Luffy.

Vivi guessed correctly. Tom suspected Nami had been captured by Mr. 3 and his crew, which is why he hurried off to find the Baroque Works agents. He found it more believable that Nami had run into the elite agents than that she'd been eaten by a dinosaur, since Usopp's claim was just a guess. Whether she was alive or dead wasn't something Tom had the leisure to ponder now. Finding her came first.

Actually, after separating from Usopp, Nami, wandering alone through the jungle and feeling scared, saw Luffy standing not far away. As she ran toward him, she noticed someone else nearby. Looking closer, it was Tom! But he was covered in wounds, lying on the ground, looking near death.

Nami's heart lurched. Before she could cry out, a massive foot came down, crushing Tom's body to pieces. Seeing Tom shattered under the foot of a T-Rex, her mind went blank, her vision darkened, and she fainted.

She was then captured by Mr. 3. The "Luffy" and "Tom" she had seen were incredibly lifelike wax figures made by Mr. 3. Still nursing a grudge from his earlier losses to Tom—though he believed Tom had been eaten by the giant goldfish—Mr. 3 had made a wax statue of Tom, making it as gruesome as possible to vent his hatred. While it didn't soothe his anger much, it certainly succeeded in scaring Nami into unconsciousness.

Tom ran swiftly through the jungle but found no trace of Mr. 3 or the others. Growing more anxious, he realized the island was huge; searching randomly was like looking for a needle in a haystack. So, he simply found a large Pteranodon to ride. The aerial view would make spotting people much easier.

Meanwhile, after many hardships and narrowly escaping numerous beasts, Vivi and Usopp finally found Luffy. However, the Straw Hat captain was pinned under a massive boulder, angrily pounding the ground with his fists.

"Luffy! It's terrible! Nami was eaten by a dinosaur!" Usopp cried out excitedly the moment he saw Luffy, not watching his step. He tripped, fell flat on his face, and got a bloody nose.

"What?! Is that true?!" Luffy's shocked expression mirrored Tom's.

"We were running through the jungle to escape dinosaurs, and she suddenly vanished!" Usopp said, panicked and tearful. "What do we do? I actually abandoned a crewmate!"

Seeing Usopp so distraught, Vivi told him to calm down and asked if he had confirmed it.

"Confirm? How could I possibly confirm something so horrible?!" Usopp said bluntly, giving Vivi a look as if she were an idiot. "If Nami wasn't eaten by a dinosaur, then she was eaten by some other beast. What else could it be?!"

"There's something you should know," Vivi told Usopp. "Baroque Works agents have pursued us here. It's only natural Nami would be targeted. I think she was likely captured by them. You weren't on their hit list, which is why you managed to escape unscathed." Indeed, the appearances of Luffy, Zoro, Tom, and Nami were known to Baroque Works, which led Vivi to this conclusion.

"So that's it! Then the bomb in the liquor must have been planted by those people too!" Luffy said, finally understanding why the liquor in Dorry's stomach had exploded now that he knew Baroque Works was here.

Vivi and Usopp didn't know about the ambush on Dorry, so Luffy gave them a quick summary.

"I finally meet such amazing warriors, and this happens..." Luffy gritted his teeth, on the verge of furious rage, pounding the ground repeatedly. He felt such indignation for the giant he'd just met, never thinking of him as a villain with a 30,000,000 Berry bounty.

Vivi watched Luffy, still pinned under the huge rock, his face filled with fury. From their conversation, she'd grasped the basics about the giants. She still didn't fully understand Luffy's actions.

"So, after the liquor exploded in his stomach, he went to duel anyway?" Usopp asked, growing angrier as he learned the truth. "Those two have fought with all their might for a hundred years, always ending in a draw! This might be the most honorable battle in the whole world! How can they decide it with such a despicable method?!" Usopp shouted angrily. He had witnessed Brogy defeat Dorry in their second duel. At the moment of victory, Brogy, a giant who had lived over 150 years, had been moved to tears, which deeply shook Usopp.

But Brogy didn't know his hard-won victory wasn't due to the favor of the God of Elbaf he worshipped. He had merely been tricked by some cowardly people. What a tragedy for someone who had fought steadfastly for a century.

"Where are those people?! Get out here!" Luffy roared, having also seen Dorry defeated by Brogy. Remembering Dorry's earlier words fueled his rage. He headbutted the ground repeatedly, his furious roar echoing deep into the distant jungle.

"Mr. 3, did you hear something?"

"How strange. To hear the barking of a cur even in the depths of the jungle..."

Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 3 were in a hidden spot in the forest. Mr. 3 spoke while smugly sipping black tea. His plan today had been largely successful. Aside from being discovered by Tom at the start, everything else had gone according to plan. No wonder he was a bit smug. He had played the two giants, "Red-Haired" Brogy and "Blue-Haired" Dorry, both with 100,000,000 Berry bounties, like fiddles.

Furthermore, Mr. 3 had taken advantage of Brogy's post-victory euphoria to secretly immobilize his feet with candle wax, capturing the giant who had just defeated Dorry.

"To cry from happiness after winning... simple-minded people really have it easy," Mr. 3 said, leaning against a tree with a steaming teacup, sneering at the tear-streaked Brogy. "You've really worked hard."

"Cry from happiness? You don't know a damn thing! Who are you?!" Brogy roared upon seeing the man with a '3'-shaped haircut. After fighting Dorry for a century to finally reach a conclusion, he couldn't stand someone talking nonsense. The myriad of emotions that surged within him when he struck Dorry down were probably impossible even for him to articulate, let alone for an outsider.

"I can only tell you my codename. I am Mr. 3, a sculptural artist."

"And this is my assistant," he introduced the little girl with twin braids. "Miss Goldenweek. A realist painter."

"Furthermore," Mr. 3 said darkly to Brogy, "you are already my captive."

Only then did Brogy realize his feet were stuck fast to the ground by sticky candle wax.

Meanwhile, Usopp was seething with righteous anger. "Those Baroque Works scum are too despicable! I'm going to go take care of such rotten people!"

"I'll come with you," Vivi said, feeling responsible for the crew getting involved and obligated to fight.

"Of course! Please, by all means, come with me! That makes me feel much better." Though Usopp had spoken with determination moments before, his legs were now trembling. Hearing Vivi would accompany him eased his mind.

Just as Usopp and Vivi prepared to move, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine appeared, dragging a badly beaten Karoo with them.

Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine had heard Luffy's angry roars from afar. Having suffered at Luffy's hands in Whisky Peak, they dared not get close. But when they saw Vivi and Usopp head toward Luffy, they were shocked. In their eyes, Vivi should have been eaten by the terrifying giant goldfish along with Tom. How was she alive and well?

After much hesitation, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine decided to watch from hiding, waiting for a chance to capture Vivi and complete their mission. Then they spotted Karoo running toward Vivi from another direction. They had a bright idea: capture Vivi's "steed," force it to cry out, and lure Vivi over. That way, they wouldn't risk getting close enough for Luffy to notice them.

But to their extreme annoyance, Karoo, the stubborn yellow duck, refused to cooperate. No matter how they threatened it, it wouldn't make a sound to attract Vivi. So, Karoo was tragically beaten half to death.

Then, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine made a fortunate discovery: Luffy was pinned under a huge rock and couldn't move. Emboldened, they revealed themselves.

"We were afraid of that Straw Hat man, but he can't move now. So, no one can protect you anymore, can they, Princess Vivi?" Mr. 5 said, having suffered at Luffy's hands in Whisky Peak and recently being thrashed by Tom. He finally had a clearer understanding of his own strength: he really was no match for Luffy or Tom. Now, with Luffy immobilized, Tom absent, and the threatening Zoro already captured, only a long-nosed weakling remained. His arrogance swelled. "Well? Do you still intend to resist, Miss Wednesday?"

"Yahahahaha! You don't actually think you can defeat us elite agents, do you?" Miss Valentine, like Mr. 5, became frivolous again, seeing no one present who could beat them.

Though they had participated in capturing the giants under Mr. 3's coercion and persuasion, they wanted to capture Vivi themselves to complete their assigned mission and prove their competence.

Vivi's face darkened as she saw Karoo, beaten nearly to death.

"So, you're the ones who put the bomb in the liquor?" Usopp stepped forward, pointing at Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine.

"That's right."

"And who are you?"

Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine had never seen Usopp before. He wasn't on their hit list, but since he was with the Straw Hats, they decided to take him out too.

"It was you who interfered with the giants' duel!" Luffy struggled to free himself from under the boulder, glaring at Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine. "I'LL PUNCH YOU BOTH INTO NEXT WEEK!!!!"

"Punch us? You should worry about saving your own skin first."

"Yahahahaha! Let's finish them quickly!"

Seeing Luffy couldn't escape the rock, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine grew more brazen.

"The ones who'll be finished are you!"

"You go to hell!"

Vivi drew her Peacock Slashers, and together with Usopp, launched the first attack against the approaching Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine.

Meanwhile, Tom, riding the Pteranodon, hadn't been circling the island's sky for long when he spotted a massive candle structure on a distant clearing. He immediately steered the flying reptile toward it.

From above the candle platform, Tom saw familiar figures below: Zoro, Nami, the flaming-haired Mr. 3, Miss Goldenweek, and a giant lying on the ground, its limbs immobilized by wax. Just as Tom considered using his fishing rod to pull Nami and Zoro onto the Pteranodon's back, another, larger Pteranodon swooped in from the side, clearly viewing Tom's mount as prey. To Tom's dismay, it wasn't alone—a whole flock of them attacked.

Tom knew some Pteranodons hunted in packs, but he never expected them to target his ride at such a critical moment. Probably seeing his Pteranodon alone made it a target.

Seeing the aggressive flock approaching in large numbers, Tom prepared to jump off. But the attacking Pteranodons all opened their mouths simultaneously, emitting a deafening, piercing shriek. Tom's ears rang. Worse, the Pteranodon he was riding was stunned by the high-frequency sound waves. It wobbled unsteadily in the air for a couple of loops before plummeting to the ground.

"Behold the extra-large service candle banquet I've prepared just for you!" Mr. 3 said, standing before the candle-shackled Zoro and Nami and pointing at a massive, ornate candle tower he had just created nearby, topped with a wax Halloween pumpkin.

"What is that?"

"Whatever it is, it can't be good for us," Nami and Zoro muttered, looking at the tower.

"No need to fear. It's a place to display my art," Mr. 3 said. Nami's tense expression relaxed slightly. Then Mr. 3 continued with a sinister smile, "I'm going to turn you both into perfect candle dolls."

A chill ran down Nami's spine at his words. But before she could speak, a thunderous BOOM echoed as the Pteranodon carrying Tom crashed down from the sky, utterly demolishing Mr. 3's candle banquet platform.

"My masterpiece! I just finished it!" Mr. 3 shrieked, his jaw dropping as his creation was reduced to splinters.

"Cough, cough... So unlucky, falling out of the sky like that," Tom said, climbing out of the pile of wax rubble and dusting himself off.

"What are you doing here?!" Zoro and Nami exclaimed in unison, shocked to see Tom crash down with a Pteranodon.

"I'm surprised you're still alive. Most unexpected," Mr. 3 said coldly, his face darkening. He had been sure Tom was fish food.

"You capturing Zoro is what's unexpected to me. What underhanded trick did you use?" Tom retorted, glancing at Mr. 3 before looking at Nami. Seeing she and Zoro were unharmed set his mind at ease. Thinking it best to end this quickly, he drew the fishing rod from the sheath on his left arm with his good hand.

"You broke Mr. 3's things. He's very angry. Let me deal with you instead," Miss Goldenweek said, stepping toward Tom, her red cap perched on her head.

"Don't think being a kid means I won't do anything," Tom said sternly, moving closer to Zoro and Nami while keeping an eye on Mr. 3 and observing the dazed, cute little girl. "Misbehaving children need a spanking. Want to try it?"
