Chapter 215 - Chapter 215: SAM-20 Air Defense Missile Destroys Gulfstream G200 Private Jet

Just as Adams was thinking about this, he suddenly heard the distinct "thud-thud-thud" sound of helicopter rotors in the distance. Not long after, a Mi-28 attack helicopter made a dramatic appearance over the yacht.

The powerful rotor wash blew fiercely against the Russian soldiers standing on the deck, as well as President Adams and the others, making their clothes billow in the wind. The force of the wind also caused the surrounding seawater to ripple outward.

The Mi-28 attack helicopter, codenamed "Havoc," stood out among armed helicopters due to its superior performance and striking design.

As they watched the helicopter steadily descend, drawing closer to the yacht, Adams and the others couldn't help but break into a cold sweat. They were wondering—was this attack helicopter about to land on the yacht? Did the yacht even have a helipad?

Their limited imagination couldn't keep up with the reality before them. Mavi's modified military yacht indeed had a helipad on the aft deck, making boarding the vessel easy and eliminating the need for a cumbersome transfer via speedboat.

When the Mi-28 attack helicopter smoothly landed at the rear of the yacht, Ubisoft's President Adams, along with R&D Director Jones and the others, were once again left in awe of their boss's sheer prowess.

Even though they still hadn't seen what their CEO, Mavi, looked like, after witnessing this series of events, Adams and the rest could only think of one word—"respect."

As Mavi stepped out of the attack helicopter, dressed in casual civilian attire, Adams and Jones quickly approached to greet him.

"Chairman Mavi, hello! I'm Adams from Ubisoft. It's a pleasure to meet you!" Adams said warmly.

"Hello, President Adams. I hope the journey wasn't too tiring," Mavi responded with his usual humility and politeness. No matter his background or status, he always maintained his traditional virtues.

"Not at all! Not at all! Chairman Mavi, the journey wasn't tiring in the slightest," Adams replied with a smile as he shook hands with Mavi. During the handshake, he was surprised to realize just how young the chairman was—he looked to be only in his early twenties.

Compared to himself, a man in his forties, Adams couldn't help but feel a pang of envy.

"If you're not too tired, let's head to the front deck. We'll be starting the development of a new game shortly," Mavi said, motioning for the group to follow him. What was about to unfold would be a truly spectacular "game development session."

Hearing Mavi's words, Adams and Jones were filled with confusion. "Heading to the front deck... to develop a game? What does that even mean?"

Having worked in the gaming industry for years, none of them had ever developed a game on a yacht deck before, so they were understandably puzzled.

When they followed Mavi to the yacht's front deck, they were shocked to find that, aside from a few Russian soldiers standing guard, there were no computers or any other game development equipment in sight.

It was completely empty.

"Chairman Mavi, did you bring us here... to develop a game?" Adams asked hesitantly. Given the vast difference in status between them, Adams wasn't about to act like some arrogant villain from a novel and mock his own boss—that would be the epitome of stupidity.

"That's right. Just be patient for a moment; we'll be starting soon," Mavi said as he gazed up at the sky, as if waiting for something.

About two minutes later, a pure white Gulfstream G200 private jet appeared, flying in from the right side of the yacht.

That aircraft had once been Mavi's personal jet, but since he had replaced it with a new one, it was now obsolete. Rather than letting it go to waste, he decided to use it for a promotional shoot for the new game Counter-Strike: Battleground.

The plan was to film a scene in which the plane was shot down over an island by an air defense missile. A scene like that would be incredibly shocking and would undoubtedly cause a major stir in the gaming industry.

Just as the Gulfstream G200 appeared, two missile launch vehicles and a phased-array radar vehicle suddenly arrived from the coastline. These vehicles were part of Russia's SAM-series air defense missile system.

The missile launchers were loaded with three SAM-20 air defense missiles, each measuring 7.5 meters in length, 0.51 meters in diameter, and weighing 1,800 kilograms. With a range of 75 to 150 kilometers, these missiles were even capable of intercepting other missiles.

Seeing the missile launchers rolling in, Adams and Jones began to panic. They had no idea what these vehicles were doing here or how they related to the development of a new game.

"Chairman Mavi… those missile launchers… don't tell me… you arranged for them to be here?" Adams asked cautiously. It was his first time seeing these kinds of missiles up close.

"More or less," Mavi replied casually. "But don't worry, there's no danger."

The game Mavi was developing, Counter-Strike: Battleground, was based on the map of Sakhalin Island—the very island they were currently on.

As for the Gulfstream G200 (which was being flown remotely), Mavi had already envisioned its role in the game's storyline: a private jet belonging to a wealthy tycoon would be shot down by a mysterious force, leaving the tycoon's private island abandoned.

Then, mercenaries who had once been employed by the tycoon—i.e., the game's players—would hear the news and parachute onto the island from military transport planes to battle for gold. The game would feature solo mode, duo mode, and squad mode.

Of course, Adams and the others had no idea about Mavi's grand plan. The only thing they knew at that moment was that the two missile launchers were locking onto the Gulfstream G200 in the sky.

From the looks of it, they were about to shoot it down.

"Ch-Chairman Mavi… you're not actually going to… blow up that plane, are you?" Adams stammered, his voice trembling.

He had never imagined that things would take this kind of turn. Weren't they supposed to be developing a new game?! Why was it turning into something so terrifying?

"Pretty much," Mavi said with a smile. "The footage will be used as a promotional video for the new game. Plus, when the game is fully developed, we can include it as a cinematic cutscene in the storyline to enhance player immersion."

As for safety concerns, there was no need to worry. The Gulfstream G200's flight path had been carefully programmed to ensure that it would crash far away from the yacht, minimizing any risk to those on board.
