After 3 days.
Three days had passed since the night Xichen went with Yuechan to visit Guan Qinghan, and things went as Xichen had expected. Jun Wuyi and Jun Zhantian had agreed to his proposal. For people who cared about their families, that was both their strength and their weakness, and this allowed Xichen to control them easily.
Although Xichen had intended to send Jun Wuyi to the Divine Phoenix Empire to treat the poison in his body, he ultimately decided against it and instead gave him a Detoxification Pill, as his condition was not too severe.
With the Detoxification Pill, Jun Wuyi had gone into seclusion for the past three days. As for the old man, Jun Zhantian, it seemed he had encountered a fortunate opportunity after that banquet where they first met. He had broken through to the Emperor Profound Realm and was now half a step into the Tyrant Profound Realm. His appearance was no longer that of an old man at the end of his life; instead, he had regained his youth and resembled Jun Wuyi so much that one would mistake them for brothers rather than father and son.
Apart from this one noteworthy thing, Guan Qinghan was not legally a daughter of the Jun family, but she had become Jun Wuyi's adopted daughter. It seemed that the adoptive father felt he had wronged the girl greatly in her life and wanted her to live as she wished, without being bound to her role as a widow.
"My Lord... My Lord!!... An imperial decree has arrived from His Imperial Majesty!" – a servant exclaimed as he reached the back garden where Xichen was drinking wine with Old Man Jun.
Xichen calmly turned his head toward the voice, holding a cup made of blue jade, filled with aged red wine that exuded the fragrance of wildflowers. He raised an eyebrow slightly, then placed the cup on the small wooden table beside him.
"An imperial decree?" – he murmured in a faint tone, as if not very concerned, then turned to Jun Zhantian, who was laughing while pouring himself another cup.
"Has it not been a long time since your family last received a decree bearing the golden seal?"
The old man chuckled and shook his head:
"Indeed, it seems the winds are beginning to change... but I don't think this kind of decree brings anything but a headache."
The servant entered, carrying a small box covered with purple fabric embroidered with the imperial dragon, then bowed deeply and presented the box to Xichen with both hands.
Old Man Jun took the box lightly, then slowly removed the fabric, as if opening a book whose ending he already knew. Indeed, inside was a golden scroll tied with a crimson ribbon.
He opened the scroll with his calm eyes and read the words written in meticulous imperial calligraphy.
"That bastard..." – Old Man Jun muttered, and a powerful aura filled with anger and killing intent burst forth from him.
"Calm down, old man," – Xichen said calmly and waved his hand lightly, whereupon Old Man Jun's pressure disappeared – "What makes you so angry?"
"That accursed emperor. He is going to send the army to suppress the beast waves from the Tian Fa Forest. It seems the lord of the forest is angry because one of its cores was stolen. They have attacked Xue Hun Manor, and the Second Great Master Li Juetian is holding them off, but he is requesting support," – Jun Zhantian said with undisguised contempt, anger showing in his eyes – "And command of the army has been delegated to Wuyi."
"I see. This is the perfect opportunity to get rid of people and blame the Profound Beasts," – Xichen smiled contemptuously, for that cowardly emperor's plan was clear even to the blind.
"Yes. It seems that bastard has run out of patience and wants to finish off the Jun family," – Old Man Jun muttered, the veins on his forehead clearly bulging.
"No need to worry, Father," – a new, deep, manly voice full of heroism rang out, and the owner of the voice appeared before him – "Even if he wants to get rid of me, it will not be easy. I was not given the title of Blood General for nothing."
The person who spoke was none other than Jun Wuyi, who had already recovered. The paleness and weakness of his body had disappeared, and he was now walking on his own two feet, his back straight, his gaze sharp, and his powerful aura radiating naturally from his body.
Boom!
"Your unworthy son, Jun Wuyi, greets his father," – Jun Wuyi said respectfully, and all the majesty he had been radiating disappeared. He knelt before his father with complete filial piety and sincerity. No matter who he was outside, at home he was Jun Zhantian's son, and he had to show proper respect to the man who allowed him to be born into this world.
Jun Zhantian smiled a profound smile, his eyes gleaming with pride and affection as he patted his son's shoulder firmly:
"Stand up, my son. You are no longer that weak young man who sought power in the shadows. Today, you are the commander who will restore our family's glory."
Jun Wuyi stood firmly, and that sparkle which had only appeared a few days ago returned to him, surrounded by a mysterious aura of power reinforced by his intense seclusion training.
"Your Highness, will you allow me to participate in this war?" – Wuyi asked respectfully and continued – "Although I hate that emperor who caused the death of my brothers and their children, if the Profound Beasts manage to breach the defensive line, many common people will die. I do not wish to see those for whom my brothers sacrificed their lives to protect die in this manner."
"Of course. And remember, I will accompany you as well," – Xichen smiled lightly – "For I am also curious about the Tian Fa Forest, which is controlled by powerful Profound Beasts in the Sovereign Profound Realm, who can even transform into human forms."
Although it was known that a Profound Beast in the Sovereign Profound Realm could transform into a human form, it was rare for a beast in the Sovereign Profound Realm to do so. In the past 1,000 years, no case of finding a Profound Beast in human form had been recorded, as they despised this act. However, the Tian Fa Forest was an exception, as it had existed for nearly 2,000 years, and no one had dared to engage them in all-out war because they did not kill indiscriminately, and besides, people were afraid of the idea of millions of Profound Beasts attacking them all at once.
For this reason, Xichen was very curious about this place, and even if this matter had not come up, he had been thinking of visiting it later.
