Chapter 50 - Changing the Past

When Mifuyu Yukino stepped into the "door without a room," she immediately realized that this was the same person who had disturbed her throughout the night.

"Huh? What did you say?" Kazuma asked, confused.

"It's nothing," she replied, shooting him a resentful glance as she stepped into the unfamiliar yet oddly familiar space. "Is this some kind of secret realm? How did you manage it?"

"Secret."

"You know me, yet I know nothing about you. That's unfair."

"Actually, I don't know much about you either. I only know that you're a snow woman," Kazuma shook his head. "Miss Snow Woman, since you came, does that mean you've agreed?"

"I only came to talk," she said honestly. It was the first time she had met such a strange human—someone who appeared ordinary yet possessed unusual abilities. And for some reason, there was something about him that felt slightly out of place.

Of course, the earlier incident also played a part.

That moment seemed to have left a mark on her heart.

"Since you know I'm a snow woman, are you asking for my help because you want to borrow my power?"

"Miss Snow Maiden really is perceptive," Kazuma said, openly praising her. "Beautiful, intelligent, and strong. Truly a perfect woman."

"Even if you flatter me, I'll still set conditions," she said, though a bright smile bloomed across Mifuyu Yukino's face, clearly revealing her pleasure. After all, who doesn't enjoy being complimented? "Mr. Kazuma, you said yourself that you could agree to any conditions."

"As long as they're not too outrageous," Kazuma replied generously.

"And what counts as outrageous? Would wanting to get revenge on you be considered too much?"

Facing Mifuyu Yukino's teasing gaze, Kazuma looked genuinely surprised. "Revenge on me? That can't be your real intention, can it?"

"No, it is my real intention. You did something quite outrageous to me—wouldn't it be only fair for me to get revenge?" Mifuyu Yukino curled her lips slightly. This little scoundrel's constant calm, as if everything were always under his control, was truly irritating. Seeing his surprised expression now made her feel extremely satisfied.

"Mr. Kazuma, are you scared?" she giggled.

"As you wish."

"Then it's settled." Mifuyu Yukino lightly licked her lips, a strange glimmer flashing in her eyes. "Mr. Kazuma, you agreed to this yourself, so don't go back on your word later."

Wait, the revenge you're talking about, it wouldn't be *that* kind of revenge, would it?

When Kazuma left the apartment, a beautiful woman walked beside him. Dressed elegantly, Mifuyu Yukino exuded a mature and refined charm, her presence comparable to Mira Tsubakihara's. Yet at this moment, she followed quietly at his side, almost like a capable secretary.

Along the way, passersby couldn't help but stare at the beautiful snow-woman, while the looks directed at Kazuma were filled with envy and jealousy.

The two soon arrived at the entrance of the Tosaka Family residence and rang the doorbell.

"Coming! May I ask who it is?"

Kazuma smiled at the butler who opened the door. "We're here to see Mr. Tosaka. Is he home?"

After a brief exchange, they were allowed inside the Tosaka residence and soon disappeared from view. Not long after, Tosaka Fuyuka slowly flew over, a bamboo-copter spinning atop her head. "Is Kazuma planning to pay Father an official visit? Hmm, that works too. But the woman beside him is so beautiful—she must be the helper he mentioned."

Just as Tosaka Fuyuka was about to sneak in and eavesdrop, her communication card suddenly began to glow. Startled, she quickly took it out, sensing something unusual from it. Her face immediately brightened with joy. "Does this mean the future has already changed?"

Inside the Tosaka residence, Kazuma was unaware of Fuyuka's excitement. He and the snow-woman sat across from the head of the Tosaka Family at a low table in the reception room. Kazuma observed him quietly for a moment; the man truly gave off the impression of being kind and upright.

"My name is Kazuma. Mr. Tosaka, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Do we know each other?"

The head of the Tosaka Family felt the young man's gaze was somewhat unusual and couldn't help asking.

"This is our first meeting, Mr. Tosaka," Kazuma replied with a smile. "However, I've heard of you before. People say you're a very good person."

"Oh? From where? Are you here because you need my help with something?"

"Quite the opposite—we're here to help you," Kazuma said directly, smiling faintly at the man's surprised expression. "Haven't you noticed suspicious people lingering around your house these past few days?"

Judging by his astonishment, it was clear he hadn't noticed anything.

Mifuyu Yukino cast Kazuma a strange glance. Speaking of suspicious, you're the most suspicious one here.

"Such claims are difficult for me to believe based on your word alone."

"You only need to be aware of it, Mr. Tosaka. Whether you believe me or not, you'll still be more cautious, won't you?" Whether it was an accident or a deliberate conspiracy, knowing beforehand reduced the danger and allowed precautions to be taken.

After all, the head of the Tosaka Family was far from incompetent.

Hearing this, the man seemed slightly convinced. Still, compared to the supposed danger, something else concerned him more. "Why go out of your way to warn me? Since we don't know each other, why help me?"

Kazuma blinked, then sighed softly, a trace of melancholy in his voice. "Perhaps because I don't want to see a certain girl cry again."

Part of it was for the wish list, but even more than that, he simply didn't want to see Fuyuka in tears.

When he first arrived in this world, all he cared about was completing the wish list and growing stronger. Nothing else mattered. But before he realized it, he had formed genuine bonds with the people around him, and his way of thinking had slowly changed.

Kazuma felt a faint sense of nostalgia.

"Oh, and Mr. Tosaka—if you ever encounter a problem you can't resolve, you may seek help from Mira Tsubakihara. You can try mentioning my name. I don't know if it will help, but it's worth a try."

With that, Kazuma left with Mifuyu Yukino, leaving the head of the Tosaka Family sitting in silence, deep in thought. After a long while, he returned to his room, still unsettled, and made a phone call.

The mysterious young man had been right. Whether he believed it or not, he had become more vigilant.

However, after investigating for two days, he found nothing unusual. Everything seemed like baseless nonsense. It should have been reassuring, yet an inexplicable unease lingered in his heart. Seeing his troubled expression, the driver couldn't help but speak.

"Mr. Tosaka, I don't think anything dangerous will happen. It was probably just a prank."

"A prank, huh…"

Just as he was about to respond, his pupils suddenly shrank. A large truck roared toward them from straight ahead, closing the distance in an instant. Fear seized him immediately. "Look out——!"

The driver slammed on the brakes.

Boom!

Everyone in the car thought death was inevitable. But when they opened their eyes, they were met with a shocking sight—the truck had crashed into the roadside barrier and slammed into a building wall instead. Aside from minor bumps, they were completely unharmed.

People nearby screamed and scattered in panic.

"Mr. Tosaka, this…"

The driver was completely stunned.

Outside, Kazuma put away his Reflection Cloak, once again marveling at its power. "Forget trucks—it can even stop a locomotive."

At that critical moment, he had used the Reflection Cloak to deflect the oncoming truck. Yet he felt no relief, because he had already realized that the truck had been waiting by the roadside, deliberately choosing that exact moment to strike.

Bang, bang!

Kazuma immediately raised the Reflection Cloak again, turning toward the direction the bullets came from. So they're not even trying to hide it anymore?

"Kazuma!!"

Hearing the gunshots, the surrounding crowd fled even faster. Fuyuka rushed to his side, anxiously checking him over. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. I expected something like this, so I was prepared. Where's the snow-woman?"

"Miss Yukino already went after them," Tosaka Fuyuka said, letting out a relieved sigh as the gunshots suddenly stopped. "She must have taken care of them. Who would target the Tosaka Family like this? I wonder if we'll be able to find the mastermind."

"I told her to leave them alive so your father can investigate," Kazuma said calmly. He felt his part here was finished. Looking at the girl's wish list, he saw that it had been completed, and the communication card had also reacted.

Kazuma understood that this meant history had successfully changed.

Fuyuka's father, who was originally meant to die in a car accident today, now sat safely in the car—shaken, but alive. The attackers nearby had also been captured by the snow-woman.

Everything had been resolved perfectly, yet—

"Fuyuka?"

For some reason, Tosaka Fuyuka's expression was slightly pale. She felt that something was wrong with her; a large number of memories were fading, especially those related to Kazuma.

"No, don't!"

Panicking, the girl clutched her head and rushed forward. How could this be? She absolutely did not want to forget Kazuma!

Whoosh—

She lunged into empty air. When the young girl opened her eyes again, she found herself standing inside the school's club building, surrounded by the noisy chatter of students.

Her arm was still outstretched, but standing in front of her was a girl dressed in Kendo Club attire.

"Tosaka-senpai? What's wrong?"

"Eh?"

Tosaka Fuyuka froze. She looked down at her own Kendo Club uniform, then at the surrounding members of the club. The confusion in her eyes flashed briefly before disappearing. She shook her head. "It's nothing. I was just distracted for a moment. Has Sakura not arrived yet?"

"The president seems to be on duty, so she might be late. Tosaka-senpai, would you practice with me?"

"Alright, I'll leave it to you then."

Tosaka Fuyuka smiled, but her gaze drifted unconsciously toward the window. Outside, a small black cat sat quietly on the ground, as if waiting for someone. Suddenly, her heart felt empty.

As if she had lost something important.
