"Yeah, you're right," Naruto said. "But you called me here, so are you going to tell me why?"
"Yeah," Kurama began. "Forget all three of those ideas you were thinking about. You already gave yourself the reasons why you can't go to Jiraiya or the Toads. And right now, your body can't handle my chakra, so don't even think about ripping the seal. You will die."
"My advice is that you focus on exactly what you are doing right now," the giant fox continued. "That means training your taijutsu, chakra control, kunai combat, shurikenjutsu, sword techniques, the Rasengan, your wind chakra, and eventually the Rasenshuriken."
"You should try to master all of that before we return to Konoha."
Naruto sat there, processing what Kurama had just told him. Now that he thought about it, mastering all of that would easily cover everything he needed for the first few arcs. If he compared that level of power to the rest of his generation—Team 10, Team 8, Team Guy, plus Sakura—he would have a massive advantage. He could probably take on all of them at once and still win.
This thought irked him. Back when he watched the anime, he couldn't stand the fact that everyone else in his generation was promoted, while Naruto was left behind. He had beaten Neji, the so-called genius of the Hyuga clan, and then single-handedly took down Gaara when he was fully transformed into the One-Tails!
Even after all of that, Shikamaru was the only one promoted. Naruto wasn't even considered. Then, during the three-year time skip, all the others were promoted, leaving behind Naruto, who was easily the strongest in their generation alongside Rock Lee.
Now that he really thought about it, there was a hundred percent chance that nepotism played a role. The parents of the other genin were clan heads and high-ranking Jonin; of course, they pulled strings to get their kids promoted. Because in reality, half of them weren't even powerful enough to be considered true Chunin or Jonin.
And Sakura was definitely only promoted because Tsunade couldn't stand the embarrassment of having her personal apprentice stuck at the Genin rank while everyone else moved up.
That was the only logical reason they were promoted, because he couldn't think of any other justification. Now that he actually had the memories of the real Naruto and had seen their true skills before leaving the village, he was severely unimpressed.
"So, brat, what do you say?" Kurama asked, breaking the silence.
Naruto snapped out of his inner rant and looked back up at the massive fox.
"Yeah, you're completely right," Naruto agreed, standing up. "Alright, I'll talk to you later, Kurama."
With a blink, Naruto was back in reality, sitting in his rented room. He checked the time and realized the sun was already going down; it was almost time for dinner.
He stood up from his bed, did a few quick stretches, and left the room to get something to eat.
