By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the National Emergencies Act and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, it is hereby ordered as follows:
**Section 1. Purpose.** In light of the catastrophic events transpiring in the Capital of the nation, Washington DC on April 24, 2014, involving the use of unidentified high-yield weaponry and the subversion of national security assets, the United States Government requires immediate clarity regarding the capabilities and intentions of the individual known as **Ethan Park**.
**Section 2. Mandate of Appearance.** Ethan Park is hereby compelled and commanded to appear before a Joint Extraordinary Session of the Senate and House Committees on Intelligence and Armed Services.
**Location:** United States Capitol, Senate Chamber.
**Date/Time:** May 4, 2014; 09:00 EST.
**Section 3. Scope of Inquiry.** The subject shall provide sworn testimony regarding:
(a) His role in the destabilization of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.);
(b) The origin and nature of the localized seismic and thermal anomalies colloquially termed "The Falling Star";
(c) Allegations of unrecorded high-grade incidents involving phenomenas dating back upto 2001.
**Section 4. Enforcement.** Failure to comply with this order in person and in a timely manner will result in the immediate classification of Ethan Park as an **Unlawful Combatant** and an **Imminent Threat to National Security**. Under such designation, the Department of Defense is authorized to utilize all necessary means, including the mobilization of specialized tactical assets, to ensure the safety of the Republic.
**Section 5. General Provisions.** This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States.

Mazikeen paced the living room, her movements predatory. In a flash of fury, she hurled a shuriken; it embedded itself in the screen, instantly killing the broadcast.
"Forget the news. All of that is far beyond us," Maze spat. She looked softly toward Eve, who was still wearing yesterday's pajamas, clutching a tissue box used to wipe away a constant stream of snot and tears. Seeing Eve's state, a look of unadulterated rage crossed Maze's face.
"I am going to kill Lucifer," she told the sobbing woman. "I mean it."
"No... you can't hurt him... because I love him," Eve replied, dabbing at her eyes.
The breakup had happened only yesterday, following an epiphany by the Lord of the Underworld: he had realized he hated himself.
"I want him back. I just don't understand why he would say he doesn't love himself when he's with me," Eve sniffled. "What does that even mean?"
Maze looked at Eve with a hidden longing before composing herself and sitting beside her. "It means he's an idiot, which is typical for Lucifer. He doesn't realize how lucky he is."
"Thanks," Eve said, turning to her. "But how do I get him back?"
Maze sighed. "Lucifer is like any other man. He wants what he can't have."
"Okay... I can do that. I just... I need to show him that I'm fine. That I'm fine without him," Eve answered with a choked gasp as she stood up. "I can do that," she choked out again. "Okay, maybe I can't. Not unless you help me... please."
"In the old days, I could just possess your body and help you," Maze said without thinking. Seeing the shock on Eve's face, she quickly clarified. "Demons used to be able to possess humans—but only those who had just died. Then Lucifer forbade it."
"Why?" Eve asked.
"Above my paygrade. It must have pissed off someone in the Silver City," Maze replied. "So, we have to do this the old-fashioned way."
"And what's that?" Eve asked between sniffs.
"You're going to get your shit together," Maze clarified, "and then you're going to rub it in Lucifer's face just how much you don't need him." At those words, Eve's lips finally curved into a small, determined smile.
