Chapter 123 - Chapter 123: Garp Who Loves to Sing, Dance, and Rap

"Worse than Sengoku's by a bit? Hm… fine." Garp did not look too crushed. "So, Amon, what did I actually pull?"

He had seen Sengoku grinning so hard his face nearly split. Whatever Sengoku got was obviously good. Otherwise that old bastard would not have turned into a happy lapdog in a heartbeat.

So if his was only "a bit worse," Garp could live with it.

Amon's grin widened. "No rush. I'll show you."

He reached in and took out the first item, a device that looked like a small projector.

Garp stared at it. "What's that?"

"You'll see," Amon said. Explaining it first would ruin the impact.

He flicked it on.

A figure sprang out in the air, projected clearly in front of them. Then the beat started to build.

At first, both old men just stood there, confused, trying to guess what kind of trick this was.

Then the intro ended.

The moment the singing hit, both of their bodies stiffened.

A second later, they started moving, dragged along by something they could not stop.

Not only Garp and Sengoku, the Marines watching nearby, Belle-mère, Nojiko, even the bird, all snapped into motion and began dancing along.

The scene was pure chaos.

Only Amon stood still.

Before turning it on, he had plugged his ears, and his soul was strong enough to resist. This was soul-type interference. If your soul was not firm enough, your body would move whether you wanted it to or not.

Garp was singing, dancing, even trying to match the rhythm, and inside he was shaken.

He could feel it clearly.

His body was not listening to him.

He tried to stop, but the beat had a grip on him. He could not break free.

That realization hit hard.

Even someone at their level could be forced into this.

The only flaw was obvious. It was a wide-area effect, friend and foe together. A weapon that hit everyone in range.

Still, if you could resist it while the enemy could not, it would be devastating on a battlefield.

No wonder Amon said his item was not far behind Sengoku's.

And that raised a nasty question.

If this was already this absurd, what kind of monster items had Sengoku pulled?

Truthfully, Amon had only said "worse" because Sengoku's items fit Sengoku perfectly, but Garp pulled random items.

Now that he had seen it, he understood. This thing's value was not lower than Sengoku's haul at all.

Sengoku was stunned too.

When Amon first said Garp's was worse, Sengoku had felt smug for half a second. Then the music took him apart. Being unable to control his own body was humiliating.

At least it hit everyone. If it could target only one person, that would be terrifying.

The projected dancer finally stopped.

The music cut off.

Only then did everyone regain control of their bodies, and the sudden stillness left a cold aftertaste in the air.

Amon looked at the two old men and smiled, putting on a calm, mysterious face.

"Well? Still think it's ordinary?"

He was acting composed, but this was the first time he had realized how vicious the effect really was. Some things did not need explaining.

There were limits, though.

It needed an intro, and the intro was long enough that someone could flee the area if they reacted fast. It also had a cooldown. Amon had already checked. Once used, it could not be activated again for twenty-four hours.

Sengoku nodded with lingering caution. "I've never seen a soul attack this strong. Compared to this, Charlotte Linlin's soul tricks feel like a child's game."

Garp, on the other hand, was grinning like he had just found a new toy.

"Hahahaha! Amon, you didn't let me down. I actually got something this ridiculous!"

He leaned closer. "What was it called again?"

"Pedro BGM," Amon said.

"Right, right, Pedro BGM." Garp nodded hard. "Now tell me how to use it. What should I watch out for? And how do I keep myself from getting dragged in too?"

Amon pointed at the device. "Simple. Press the switch. Once the music and the image come out, most people won't be able to resist."

He paused, then added, "Most, not all. Blind people and deaf people might be affected less."

It traveled through sound and sight. If someone lacked one of those, the effect could drop sharply.

Amon's mind drifted for a second.

Fujitora was probably the natural counter to this thing.
