"Mr. Amon, is the last item really that amazing?"
Koby was already getting carried away just listening to him.
Anything that could help him become a Marine officer was enough to stir his heart. After all, his dream was to become a Marine Admiral.
In terms of sheer longing, it was no less than Luffy's desire to become Pirate King.
Amon smiled.
"Of course. The last item is actually a support item. You could also call it a token."
"By itself, it doesn't have any real value. But if it's paired with a certain specific item, it can produce a surprisingly strong enhancement effect."
"A support item?"
Koby felt confused.
"That's right. It's a support item, and also a kind of prop. Its purpose is to strengthen one of the items in Garp's hands. If you can deliver it to him and mention my name, I'm sure Garp will be very pleased. When that happens, there's even a chance he'll personally take you in and train you himself."
Judging by Garp's personality, there was a good chance Koby would become his personal disciple. In the original story, Garp had always liked Koby's nature.
And now that Amon was involved as well, there was even less reason for Garp not to give him face.
"K-Karp... Mr. Amon, the Garp you mean, that's the legendary Marine hero Garp, right?"
Koby's voice was already trembling.
Amon laughed and nodded.
"You guessed right. That very same old man."
"It really is Grandpa Garp… Mr. Amon, are you close with him?"
"We're on decent terms. I just met him a few days ago. Don't worry. As long as you're willing to hand this token over to him and attach the instructions I give you, he'll definitely take you under his command."
Koby nodded hard.
"Yes, yes. I'm absolutely willing to give it to Grandpa Garp!"
This thing was useless to him anyway. Of course he was willing to offer it to Garp.
"Good. Then I'll call him and have him come to Loguetown."
Amon was very happy to play the middleman here. It benefited all three sides.
Garp would get an item that enhanced the power of his prop.
Koby would get Garp's personal guidance and might even become his chosen successor within the Marines in the future.
As for Amon, he would gain the goodwill of both of them. If he ever needed their help someday, they likely would not refuse.
It was a three-way win.
With that thought, Amon pulled out the Den Den Mushi Garp had left him and contacted him directly.
"Oi, brat Amon, what do you want from me?"
At Marine Headquarters, Garp was currently mooching food in Sengoku's office.
When he received Amon's call, he was slightly surprised. He assumed Amon must have run into trouble and needed his help.
"Hahaha, don't tell me you already ran into a problem and need me to step in. Come on, say it. I've been itching for a fight lately."
Amon was rather pleased with that attitude.
"Heh, I haven't run into any problems. I'm calling because I've got something good for you."
"Oh? Since when did you get so kind to me?"
The moment he heard Amon say it was not a request for help but a good thing instead, Garp immediately became cautious.
In his memory, every time he dealt with Amon, he was the one getting tricked.
The first time they met, Amon had promised him a discount, and yet a jar worth a hundred thousand berries somehow ended up being sold to him for a hundred million.
The second time was even worse. Not only had the price doubled, Amon had also squeezed a favor out of him.
After getting fleeced by Amon so many times, Garp had developed a reflexive sense of alarm.
Amon could not help laughing at that suspicious tone.
"What kind of attitude is that? I really am bringing you good news this time. If you don't want it, forget it."
As he spoke, he deliberately pretended he was about to hang up.
"Is it really something good?"
Garp was still suspicious.
"Of course. I've already told you it's a good thing. Take it or leave it. If you don't want it, I'm hanging up."
"No, no, no, don't hang up! I will trust you one more time!"
Amon chuckled.
"That's more like it. Actually, it's about an item that can improve the power of your Pedro BGM..."
He then briefly explained the situation on his side, and also introduced the last item Koby had opened.
"If you want it, come to Loguetown. I'll probably be staying here a few more days."
"Alright, I will leave soon!"
"Good. Just call me on the Den Den Mushi when you arrive. Oh, right, I've got another big gift for you too."
Amon glanced at Koby beside him and grinned.
"There's another big gift? Hahaha, You better not trick me this time!"
Two gifts from a selfish merchant raised doubts in Garp.
"That's right. I'm sure you'll like it. Alright, that's enough for now."
With that, Amon hung up the Den Den Mushi before Garp could even reply.
Koby stood there in complete shock.
He didn't expect Amon to be this formidable.
Not only did he have Garp's personal contact, but from the tone of the conversation, it even sounded as though Garp treated him with considerable respect.
What really is the identity of this guy?
No matter how he looked at it, this was not something an ordinary merchant could possibly do.
