[Joker]

Hey, shithead motherfucker, where the fuck are you on that Velvet Room shit?

[Seeker]

Fuck off and come to my apartment.

Ren laughed as he closed the messenger app.

Morgana was confused. "What did that mean? Are we allowed to go, or did he say to fuck off?"

Ren just laughed harder.

He got up from the station bench where he had been sitting after the run-in with Kawakami.

'I should have stayed in the area. Yu's apartment was nearby,' he mentally complained.

"You're coming too, Morgana. We need to find out more about you and your memories, right?"

Morgana was silent for a moment. He was afraid to find out about his memories, but this was the closest chance he'd gotten. Mementos was large, after all.

"Okay. If I'm really like that Teddie guy, I'll ask to talk to him." Morgana steeled himself.

"There is another woman we are meeting, remember? Her name is Margaret. Yu said she was from the Velvet Room. Or at least implied it... She might know too," Ren said awkwardly, walking down the road into the residential area.

Suddenly, Ren stopped and turned around sharply. His eyes narrowed, slightly slit and bright gold.

"A cat?" he asked himself as he saw a black cat run across the road.

'I thought we were being followed. Is the Third Eye really so good? Or am I being paranoid?' he wondered.

He was lost in thought as he went to Yu's apartment.

Knock knock knock.

"Morgana, don't be too formal with Yu, but Margaret is worthy of being polite with. Yu is just a dumbass nice guy. I want to see him mad," Ren said to Morgana.

"Thank you, Trickster! But you shouldn't be too rude to my guest!"

A white-haired young woman appeared. She looked roughly in her mid-twenties, yet youthful and radiant. She looked at the two with a kind, motherly smile. She blinked when she saw Morgana, and her smile widened.

"You... look the same as when I was a kid," Ren said quietly.

"Come in, everyone. Don't annoy the other tenants!" Yu called from inside.

Entering the apartment, Margaret took a turn in front of them, picking up a large book.

Or rather, a tome?

Ren recognized it as similar to the one the twins had in the Velvet Room. But this book was much larger. It felt sacred, like he shouldn't touch it unless explicitly allowed to.

"Yo." Yu cut off Ren's thoughts, calling out while he was dicing vegetables.

"Almost done. But let's get down to business. Margaret?"

Taking a polite curtsy, Margaret looked kindly at Ren, but her eyes were also firm with trust.

"Greetings, Trickster. My name is Margaret. I served as the attendant for Yu in the Velvet Room. I have broken my contract with the Room, but it is a pleasure to see you again nonetheless."

"Uh... you don't have to be polite like that," Ren awkwardly said, looking to Yu in confusion.

He simply shook his head and motioned for Ren to continue listening.

"As a guest of the Velvet Room, you are owed the respect of a guest as well. Not everyone is blessed with its doors," she said respectfully, yet seemingly with a searching gaze.

"...Blessing?" Ren muttered. "That place is terrifying."

Sighing, Margaret pulled him into a hug.

"I'm sorry, dear guest. It is as I've feared. Please. Sit. Hear. Listen. Feel. Think," she kindly whispered.

Ren felt scared.

But also at peace.
