Chapter 54 - Devouring and Crows

Watching Yuki close the door.

Hayashi's gaze returned to the ten blood-red stick figures he had created.

This is some of his development and applications regarding perfect-level cell manipulation.

It's a bit rough around the edges, even though Hayashi's physical strength is ten times that of an ordinary person.

But the stick figure he had created with his blood, while stronger than an ordinary person, wasn't by much.

It can move things, but it's a bit weak...

Just as Hayashi was thinking this.

Suddenly…

"Caw caw—"

A crow cawed, and Hayashi suddenly saw a multicolored black crow land on a tree not far away.

Looking at the crow, an idea suddenly popped into Hayashi's mind.

With a wave of his hand, he extinguished the ten stick figures he had summoned.

Time stop! 3 seconds.

The crow, which was gracefully preening its feathers, suddenly found itself in the hands of a terrifying human in the blink of an eye.

"Relax, take a deep breath; headaches are normal."

Hayashi spoke to the crow with a kind expression.

"Gah—!"

The crow, unable to understand, immediately prepared to flap its wings and struggle, but the next moment, it felt something bloody pierce its head, and then... it knew nothing more.

"It seems possible..."

Staring at the crow before him, Hayashi felt his cells invade, devour, and analyze it.

Soon, in Hayashi's hands, even the crow's bones were devoured.

Hayashi withdrew his hand, closed his eyes to savor his gains, and then reached out his hand again.

Blood gushed from the palm of his hand again.

This time, however, instead of slender stick figures, elegant crows with colorful black feathers, just like before, gracefully flew out.

They surrounded Hayashi, their eyes as lively as a human's.

"The natural structures of animals are far superior to the stick figures you can just assemble yourself!"

Hayashi touched a crow that had landed on his right shoulder, feeling as if he were touching his own fingers, and said with some delight.

He could even clearly feel that, in terms of physical structure, it was ten times more fit than the average person.

If we consider the size of the crows, these crows are far stronger than human bodies.

Its bone strength may be close to or even exceed that of titanium alloys, and its muscle fibers are like high-strength carbon nanotubes.

Its feathers are as hard as composite armor, and its skin is as tough as carbon fiber.

The crow on his shoulder flapped its wings slightly and disappeared in the blink of an eye from Hayashi's sight, like a small-to-medium caliber cannonball.

"If we add the support of the [Gambling Authority]..."

Looking at this scene and then thinking about the numerical increase of [Gambling Authority], it's pure numerical beauty!

And it's not just crows, peregrine falcons, swifts, frigate birds, cats, tigers, dogs, swordfish, octopuses...

Thinking about all this, Hayashi's smile widened.

As for the only drawback of this ability...

That's because, unlike Tomie, each of the proliferating individuals is conscious.

Hayashi has only one reason: with his current mental strength, he can only control a few thousand crows at a time.

It's not that he can't create more crows.

But those crows...

When consciousness is withdrawn from a certain crow, the light in its eyes vanishes instantly, leaving only its genetic instincts, giving off a faint sense of death...

Like a puppet that imitates a living thing...

If the previous crow Hayashi felt like touching your own fingers, then this one... feels like touching hair and nails.

"Not bad."

Hayashi was quite satisfied with this, since insufficient mental strength was nothing to him; he could just give himself a few shots when needed!

Not to mention mental strength—all attributes have been improved.

Thinking of this, Hayashi had an idea.

Instead of using his own blood to create more crows, he let them fall to the ground.

Veins, like fungal carpets, extend from the crows' bodies, sinking into the earth like tree roots.

Then, the soil and stones were swallowed up, and elegant crows were replicated, circling around Hayashi.

Hayashi quickly gathered a thousand crows.

As soon as he had the thought, the crows silently scattered and flew off to all parts of the city.

The appearance of one Tomie means there is more than one Tomie in this world. To prevent them from causing chaos, let's contain them all for now.

And coincidentally, these crows were like his fingers, perfectly suited for doing these things.

As for Tomie's location, the crows don't need to look for him; don't forget, Tomie's memories are shared.

Hayashi happened to have a subdued Tomie in his possession.

...

"Hey, Hayashi, has your yard been burgled?"

After Yuki finished packing her things and changed into a traditional black and white maid dress that covered her body completely, she came out.

She looked at the uneven yard in front of Hayashi with some surprise and exclaimed.

"I only plan to grow watermelons!"

Hayashi answered casually. Faced with her questions, Hayashi simply glanced at her and said.

"Also maid Yuki~, please address me by my title!"

"Yes, Master!"

Yuki replied dismissively, her sweetness completely gone from when she called him "master onii-chan" just moments before.

Hayashi didn't pursue the matter further; after all, there was still a long time to go.

"Wow, what a handsome crow!"

Suddenly, Yuki noticed a crow peeking out from behind Hayashi and exclaimed in surprise.

She really liked crows.

Crows are divine, sacred messengers.

It is the sun's bird ("Yatagarasu").

Although modern times have been influenced by certain foreign cultures and works, crows have become associated with disaster, war, or death.

Because it has an ominous appearance.

But in Japan, crows are considered sacred birds, and Yuki, a self-proclaimed otaku, is particularly fond of them.

Because it's cool! Because its blackness is multicolored!

"Is this your pet, master?!"

Yuki looked at Hayashi with shining eyes and asked because the crow in Hayashi's hand looked incredibly agile, more handsome, and more elegant than any crow she had ever seen.

Hayashi patted the crow's head and nodded.

"Can I touch it?"

Yuki said expectantly.
