Jia Shidao and Song Zhong had quite a bit in common. Their resource-based Sub-Halls, despite possessing abundant assets, always seemed to lack that final push to become truly dominant. No matter who held the resources, they were never content to be subordinate to others. This was true for both the Beast Hall and the Fire Cloud Hall.
To increase their Sub-Halls' strength, they had almost simultaneously shed their bad habit of jealously hoarding their own treasures. In the past, the Beast Hall and the Fire Cloud Hall would rather let their abundant resources rot within their own walls than trade them away. Thus, while they were "wealthy," it was all for show.
