Cushing's syndrome, also known as hypercortisolism, is a disease caused by excessive secretion of glucocorticoids from the adrenal cortex.

It is a rather rare condition, with an average incidence of two to three cases per million people.

Among those affected, the ratio of women to men is three to one.

Its symptoms are varied, with the main ones being centripetal obesity, a moon-shaped face, weight gain, purple stretch marks on the skin, hypertension, and abnormal sex hormone levels, among others.

In Xia Min's case, now that the cause was found, treatment would be much simpler.

First, a laparoscopic resection of the left adrenal tumor would be performed. With subsequent medication and physical therapy, it was estimated that Xia Min's figure would return to normal within two to three months.
