Su Ze could only rely on the Magic Cube to avoid being detected by the Beast King Sponge. If he left the ship, even extending a mere wisp of Spiritual Power or a single Perception Tentacle, there would be no escaping the god-level beast's senses.
Moreover, the Magic Cube itself possessed no offensive capabilities. The weapons it carried were later additions.
Therefore, Su Ze couldn't use the Magic Cube to fight the Sponge Beast, nor could he leave the ship to steal the Sands of Time from beneath the Great Sea Shell.
The best way was to wait for the Nian Race and the Sponge Beast to start fighting. He could then use the Magic Cube to sneak in and steal the Sands of Time.
