It was late June in Kingsford, the beginning of summer, and the sound of cicadas already filled the air.
Sunlight filtered through the lush leaves, forming countless small, irregular circles of light.
Beneath the trees, a few little girls were hopping between these spots of light, as if trying to stomp them out.
Their cheerful laughter was enough to lift anyone's spirits.
On a bench not far away sat a strange figure wearing a mask and a hat.
Their clothes were also long-sleeved, seemingly covering them from head to toe.
"Senior Sister, here's your ID!"
Just then, a girl in a tracksuit hurried over, sweat still glistening on her forehead.
Dawn Miles took the ID and looked at it carefully. It had her photo, name, address, and a long string of numbers.
"Senior Sister, with this, you can go in and register for the competition."
Dawn Miles nodded, stood up, and with her hands in her pockets, strolled casually toward the convention center next to them.
