"Well, that's it for today. I'm heading home now. Thanks for dinner," Lin Li said to Liu Jialin.
"I'm going to be pretty busy for a while. Once I have some free time, I'll treat you to another meal..." Liu Jialin said with a smile.
"Uh..." He'd been treated to two meals in a row now. Even though it was because he'd done her a huge favor, Lin Li felt it would be a bit much to let her pay a third time. Feeling a little embarrassed, he said,
"You keep treating me to meals. I'd feel too embarrassed to come out again. Next time you're free, let me treat you instead!"
"That works too!" Liu Jialin readily agreed. She then said goodbye to Lin Li and turned to walk toward her car.
Lin Li watched Liu Jialin's departing figure—her long, wavy hair, her white camisole, and her blue skirt.
His few interactions with Liu Jialin had completely shattered his stereotype of Investigators being stern and humorless.
