Martin had obtained a Spirit Pet. He was eager to go show off to his girlfriend. Martin was in a hurry, but so was Rorschach.
"Don't leave. Where do you think you're going? We're not done yet." Rorschach used Mage's Hand to hold down Martin, who was trying to slip away. "We're here to test if you can cast Magic."
"Oh, right, right. Sorry."
The small dog leaped nimbly onto Martin's shoulder, baring its fangs at the villain who was restricting its master's freedom.
Enraged, Rorschach shot the little beast a fierce glare, scaring it so badly that it immediately scrambled into Martin's embrace, tail tucked and trembling violently.
'Cowardly mutt…' Rorschach scoffed. He first taught Martin the syllable for "contract" in the Yabu Language.
After learning it, Martin recited the syllable silently in his mind. From Rorschach's perspective, a silken thread indeed appeared, connecting the pet to its master.
