"Mr. Lynch, does your wife always enjoy mocking others like this?" Naomi Kenway said with a smile, not seeming angry at all.
Renee Jennings froze. "Nathaniel, I..."
Nathaniel had also noticed Renee's passive-aggressive digs. 'They're supposed to be friends,' he thought. 'Renee can't just treat people so rudely.'
"Renee can be a bit blunt sometimes. I apologize on her behalf," Nathaniel said. He looked at Naomi across from them and felt a strange sense of familiarity, though he couldn't quite place where he'd seen her before.
"Renee has never been the most eloquent. I don't mind," Naomi said with a smile before turning and walking away.
Nathaniel frowned, wondering how Renee could even have a friend like that.
Once Naomi was out of earshot, Renee threw a fit. "Naomi has bullied me so many times! I can't stand the sight of her, so why are you taking her side? Don't talk to me about being courteous or polite! She's about to walk all over me, and you're telling *me* to be polite?"
