"You dare curse me! I think you've got a death wish!"
Sophia Zobel angrily raised her hand, but Renee Jennings grabbed it. Glaring daggers at her, Renee gave a hard shove and sent Sophia toppling to the ground. "When will you ever stop? Do you have to come and provoke me when I'm already on edge?! I only put up with you before for Nathaniel's sake!"
"Ouch…" Sophia Zobel groaned as she lay on the floor.
SLAP! Nathaniel Lynch struck Renee Jennings across the face. His own face was flushed red, his lips trembling.
"Renee Jennings, you're getting more and more out of line! How dare you hit my mother? Who gave you the nerve?!"
The force of the slap snapped Renee Jennings's head to the side. Her hair in disarray, she stared at Nathaniel Lynch in disbelief as tears streamed down her face. "You hit me? You hit me for having a mistress on the side! And now that your mom is bullying me, you hit me again!"
