Hazard was also facing away from the direction of attack. He immediately knocked the ball back to Wang Shuo, forming a one-two passing combination. Tottenham center-back Caboul quickly rushed out, but he didn't lose his cool, keeping manager Redknapp's instructions firmly in mind. In the area just outside the penalty box, he needed to minimize fouls and deny Wang Shuo any chance for a direct free kick! Therefore, his goal was simply to block him.
But right after receiving Hazard's backpass, Wang Shuo didn't wait for Caboul to close in. After adjusting his footing with a series of quick, small steps, he suddenly played a lateral pass to De Bruyne, who was catching up through the middle. The young Belgium talent quickly played a diagonal pass behind the defense, while Wang Shuo sprinted past Caboul at top speed.
