As the Demon Sect and Buddhist Sect disciples stacked stones ever higher in the examination area, a wave of cheers erupted from the surrounding candidates.

Watching the boisterous crowd from his seat of honor at the head of the examination grounds, a middle-aged official frowned, clearly displeased.
But he said nothing.
Instead, he turned to a refined-looking young man behind him and whispered, "Sir, these people are getting completely out of hand. Should I intervene?"
The young man he addressed as 'Sir' had rounded, slanted phoenix eyes.
