Cecilia Adler said bluntly, "...The vegetables are ours. You're trading eggs for them, so how do they become yours? 'Is she just going to be unreasonable?'"
"I bought the vegetables, and the eggs are mine, too."
"If you're going to insist on that, then please leave."
Seeing that Cecilia wasn't playing ball, Mrs. Cheng chuckled. "I was just joking with you. I'll go home and get the eggs right now."
Cecilia said, "Fine. And I'll ask Mr. Lewis from the end of the street to come over and be a witness, just so anyone who doesn't know what's going on won't see you trading eggs for cabbage and think we're running some kind of improper business."
Mrs. Cheng's expression froze. "We're just trading some vegetables. Do you really need to be so serious about it?"
"It's better for everyone if we have a witness."
"Fine." Mrs. Cheng left.
Cecilia watched her leave before turning to go back inside, only to meet Lucas Lee's gaze.
'What are you looking at?'
