They'd been on the road all night and had woken up early. After finding her bunk, Cecilia Adler lay down to rest. "Ian, aren't you going to get some sleep?"
"I'm not tired yet." Ian Quincy had no desire to sleep.
'Today is the twenty-ninth. In just one more day, that impostor is going to show up and torment my wife again.'
'I have to come up with a plan.'
The old woman's bunk was opposite Ian Quincy and Cecilia Adler's. She happened to see his expression and felt a flicker of unease. 'That boy is wonderful in every way,' she thought, 'but he can be so gloomy, with such a murderous air about him.'
'Cecilia is certainly brave.'
'Isn't she scared?'
.....
When Cecilia Adler woke up, there was a young woman in their compartment. She was in the bunk above the old lady, holding a book, but her eyes kept glancing across to the opposite side.
'Is she sneaking peeks at Ian?'
