Mr. Grant sat there, simply watching, not saying a word.
Nora Ainsworth also slowly stood up. "Let her go? That depends on whether my sons and I agree!"
Mrs. Grant was furious. "Nora Ainsworth, don't push your luck! I still haven't approved your marriage to my son."
"Whether you approve or not is irrelevant, because I'm not marrying you. Mother-in-law, you really shouldn't worry yourself over it."
Mrs. Grant was livid. She felt that she and Nora Ainsworth were naturally incompatible.
She stepped forward to grab Quentin Grant, but he shook her off. "Catherine Callahan, you've repeatedly taken advantage of my guilt toward you and refused to change your ways. I will do everything in my power to contact my godparents and have a DNA test done with you. If you are their daughter, then get the hell out. If you're not... I imagine your life will be worse than death."
