Saphira Sutton's breath caught. Her eyes flew wide, and she grabbed his hand with both of hers, desperately trying to loosen his grip.
"If you didn't do it, then who did?"
"I… I don't know…" Saphira Sutton's eyes were wide with panic. "It just wasn't me…"
Toby Dalton's hand tightened, and her breathing became faint and shallow.
"Don't…"
Toby Dalton's hand gradually loosened. He wanted to strangle her right then and there.
But when he thought about the days he had been crazy about her, Toby Dalton couldn't bring himself to do it.
"Stop the car."
The car screeched to a halt. His expression was unreadable as he ordered, "Get out now. Get the hell away from me. The farther, the better. Otherwise, I'll make sure you die a little faster."
Saphira Sutton didn't dare stay in the car a second longer. She immediately shoved the door open and scrambled out.
The moment her feet touched the ground, her legs nearly gave out.
The ordeal had scared her half to death.
