Susan Sterling's sneer didn't falter even when everyone turned to look at her. She just kept smiling.
"Susan, what are you laughing at?" Mrs. Sterling asked, displeased.
"I'm laughing at how you spoil Aurora, Grandma. You'd better be careful, or you'll spoil her rotten." Susan Sterling didn't bother to hide it, then turned to Aurora. "Aurora, you're 20 this year, aren't you? Other people are already in college at 20, but you?"
At the mention of Aurora Sterling's education, not a single member of the Sterling family looked pleased. This was especially true for Mrs. Sterling; it was practically her greatest shame.
Although Mrs. Sterling was also very unhappy, it was a fact that Aurora Sterling had dropped out before finishing her senior year of high school. In this regard, there was no way she could compare to the other grandchildren in the family.
