"What...?" Nanny Vaughn felt as if her head had just exploded. She was usually so arrogant that she didn't have to lift a finger; if she wanted something, she just ordered another servant to do it. She lived a comfortable life, so why would she have ever paid attention to the butler's day off?
Hearing the butler's words, she immediately understood she had been set up.
Nanny Vaughn's eyes scanned the hall viciously, finally locking onto Mary. Filled with rage, she rushed forward and slapped her across the face. "You little bitch! You set me up!"
Mary's eyes instantly welled with tears from the force of the slap and the injustice of it all. She took a step back. "Nanny Vaughn, what are you talking about? Why would I try to set you up? How did I set you up?"
