Mrs. Dalton really had some nerve. Joy Dalton was the one who had seduced her own sister's husband, yet here her mother was, accusing Timothy Sterling of loving and leaving her daughter. It was the absolute height of shamelessness.
However, Mrs. Sterling frowned upon hearing Mrs. Dalton's words. "When did I ever say I wouldn't allow Joy into the family? And when did I ever say I wanted Timothy to marry some young, beautiful woman to give me a grandson? I, Gloria Grant, have never said any of those things. Stop spouting nonsense!"
"Hmph, stop pretending. You won't even admit your own words! What? Are you too embarrassed to admit your filthy intentions in front of all the Sterling family's relatives?" Clearly, Mrs. Dalton believed Mrs. Sterling was just making excuses.
Mrs. Sterling's expression darkened. "Why should I admit to something I never said? If I truly thought that way, what reason would I have to deny it?"
