Sharon Sterling didn't believe a word Sean Carter said. Or rather, subconsciously, she refused to believe him. 'This was the perfect opportunity to make Grandma and Dad completely give up on Aurora. Why did Damien Valerius have to show up now of all times?'
Sean Carter looked at Sharon Sterling. "Are you questioning what I'm saying, Miss?"
Sharon Sterling nodded. "It's common knowledge that Damien Valerius has always lived abroad. If he's returned, why hasn't there been any news? Besides, even though he's my sister's fiancé, they've never met. How would he even recognize her? You say your boss is Damien Valerius, but what proof do you have?"
As she spoke, she grabbed Timothy Sterling's arm, her expression full of worry. "Dad, I don't mean to cause trouble. I just don't want our family and my sister to be deceived. Who knows if this man is telling the truth? My sister is so naive. What if she's being scammed…? If word of this gets out, it won't do our family any good."
