In the living room, Sharon Sterling hid behind Joy Dalton, still sobbing.
"What are you crying for? You still have the nerve to cry?! After doing something so awful, you deserve to be thrown out of the Sterling Family. What a complete disgrace! You'll be the death of me!" Joy Dalton's scolding rang throughout the living room.
Mrs. Sterling's face was grim. The sounds of Sharon Sterling's crying and Joy Dalton's shouting were giving her a splitting headache. "If you're going to scold her, then go do it in your room! Don't put on an act out here. Who do you think you're performing for?!"
Joy Dalton froze, then tears of indignation streamed down her face. "Mother, I'm not putting on an act, I truly… This child, she has wronged Aurora… I've failed my sister, and I've failed the trust you and Timothy placed in me…"
