With Susan Sterling and her family gone, the university acceptance party ended abruptly, and most of the guests had left.
Her great-uncle's family and Mrs. Sterling also saw no reason to stay, so they too departed.
As Aurora Sterling walked out with her arm linked through Mrs. Sterling's, her grandmother suddenly let out a long sigh.
"Grandma, what's wrong?" Aurora asked.
Mrs. Sterling turned to look deeply at Aurora. "Aurora, dear, I was the one who decided on your university major. I never even asked what you wanted. After what just happened with Simone Holt, I've been reflecting on my actions. Was I being too selfish? All I could think about was regaining our family's pride, so your great-uncle and third great-uncle's families couldn't look down on us. That's why I chose Westgate Medical University for you, without ever asking if you even like medicine or want to be a doctor."
