After dinner with Silas Linton, Damien Valerius didn't take Aurora Sterling straight back to the hotel. Instead, he took her for a drive around Portcove. Leaving the hustle and bustle of the city's nightlife far behind, Damien brought Aurora to the seaside.
The sea before them was pitch-black. Aside from the feel of the sea breeze and the spray from the crashing waves, there was almost nothing to see.
Suddenly, Aurora recalled the starry sky from the night she'd spent with Damien in the glass room atop the Global Commerce building. But tonight, the sky was just as dark and hung oppressively low, devoid of any stars or moon.
The two sat on the sand, listening in silence for a while to the waves crashing against the shore.
"You still haven't answered my question," Aurora asked. "Why did you fight in those underground matches?"
